For those of you wondering what djs actually do and why they're pressing all those buttons: 1. There are very few djs that do indeed remix the song live on stage by spontaneously adding new elements and dialing them in or removing them (as a dj you usually have seperate stems of a track to be able to take out or edit certain elements). However those djs are an exception. 2. Usually when a dj is pushing buttons and tweaking sliders they're preparing the transition to the next song. There are quite some problems that can occur when transitioning such as a difference in bpm and key or just an outro and an intro that don't fit together because of their sound. To solve these differences the dj adjusts these parameters in advance or prepares other workarounds. Also temporary effects like high- and low-pass-filters and subtle changes in the equalizer are reasons to tweak some knobs. 3. And of course there are indeed many djs that don't do anything on stage as they prepared their whole mix beforehand and just push random buttons to look busy just as that girl in the video suspected.

They are actually good DJ's if they keep a crowd entertained for a few hours.
or just making the set ahead of time and just playing it off.
@@gielnw9891 So making a good Spotify playlist. They are definitely not overpaid for their job
Didn’t know I was a dj but I’m not mad at it. Hours of making cohesive playlists over 15 hours long wasn’t for nothing. 😭💀

It is kinda excessive.

So a DJ is making the songs in the booth at the party, right then and there? No?
Then her point still stands. What do they do besides press play?
@@AnonKnowsMe beatmatching, purchasing music, creating playlists with songs that match, transitioning, lots of djs produce also. Beatmatching is not always easy, espacially on vinyls if you can't see the bpm and have to do it by ear. Try it and then you Can criticize other people's work.

To be fair, she's right in a way. Many DJs just stand there with a preprogrammed set.

The song is called Satisfaction by Benny Benassi. It's been out for well over a decade and this guy is just trying to pass it off as his own!?
Hes not. DJs usually dont compose their own songs and mix and flip already existong songs, exactly what the guy in the video did @davestoker6233

Dj's steal samples make a tune and play it on a usb. Shes not wrong
I remember The Prodigy saying how much they hated performing in Ibiza because nearly every Dj would just pull out a USB with pre-recorded mixes and then act as if they were actually doing something.
Oh you mean Plebiza?
imo i don't really care what the actually "do" live, to me a modern DJ is equivalent to "music composer and producer for a bunch of genres". if they create cool music, it's good, if not, its bad, no amount of live knob pulling can compensate for that (or ruin it)...
Are symphonies created on the fly too
@@amarug But the argument is that the dj still should be doing something. Imagine you go to a concert from a singer songwriters and it's just their album version playing on the monitors and they are lip syncing? Same feeling as going to see a dj "play" a pre recorded mix.
@@machinmon.Symphonies don't have to adapt to the crowd. Djs have to. So if you pre-record there is no interaction with the crowd. Playing cool music and adapting to the dancers are two very different things.
I though Rezpiupiu already crazy but this is crazierrrr😂
That is what a producer does. A DJ mixes music, but can also be a producer. She is right, there are many shitty DJs who just push buttons and don't even mix music.
The comment I was looking for
Yup. The vast majority of DJs do basically nothing. Well, except work in coffee shops in the daytime
This right here.
@@yeastofthoughtsmind9623 i miss the time in the early 2000s where we had no laptops and bpm counters and it actually took skill to mix live infront of hundreds of people. i took every penny that i earned as an apprentice to the record store.

It happened 2 years ago you mean... it is AIVA
Bro, A DJ is not inherently a music producer, nor is a music producer inherently a DJ. Lol. And it's a performance art. We are nowhere near robots replacing human performances on a massive scale to the point where they are by definition "replacing" DJs or music producers.
I mean, if DJs can prove to be more valuable, then that won’t happen
If AI proves to be more valuable then DJs, then yes, we will switch to that. It’s called human evolution. Cry about it

This is what audio engineers do. DJs download their work and hit ‘play’.

@@drom_inthehouz I see an audio program. I see editing tools. That's an audio engineer making the sounds.
