It's been a few years since I've done these trails but I've sideways found Steel Pass to be more of a challenge... but that said, really a great video. Thank you!
I did that trail in my relatively new stock 1996 F150 (with stock tires) but from the top down. I had to build up the road in a couple places where there were some washouts.
Interesting, I just went to the Kettle Junction two days ago, there were a lot less kettles. Besides that, I came from the Ubehebe Crater starting point--get ready for an hour and a half of washboard. The path through the Joshua Tree Valley was beautiful.
I appreciate how much yall push for practices for protecting these delicate ecosystems! lots of people out there just see dirt and want to "send it brah" but not only does it destroy the scenery for those who appreciate the nature, but it also impacts the habitat for the organisms that live there.
Thanks for a great summary of Lippencott. I’m ready to take my ‘21 Taco up and over on my next Death Valley National Park. Also thanks for the tread lightly messaging, especially at Race Track Playa
I know the idea is to promote the Nitto Tires but those trucks are capable of a lot more. Especially the way you guys have them modified and your driving experience...
You sure about that. I remember steel pass being harder. I could be wrong. It was 15 years ago I did them. Lots of booze and mushrooms so that could have altered my experience.
If it weren't for being a narrow shelf road, I don't think most people would find Lippencott that hard - I think it's reputation is mostly psychological. Dedeckera Canyon on Steel Pass Road is definitely harder, but you won't fall 500 feet off a cliff if you get it wrong.
I was born and raised in Yosemite. I don’t notice cliffs, I have always loved big exposure. Climbed 1200 feet off deck in Boy Scouts and was hooked. I suck at rock climbing but love jumping off cliffs into water. I remember liponcott being really easy.

20psi does not improve your tires footprint by all that much...sorry guys. sadly I don't reemember the name of the book but there is a how to 4x4 book that actually shows a graph of the footprint going from 35psi down to 7 I think. In my jeep I go down to 9psi as a rule. Never ever over 15 for sure!!!! Good time to explain to folks too what is "Dry Steering." for those scared that they will have the tire come off the rim. FYI at 9psi and even times at 7 that has never happened to me.
My husband and I did the same with a dumbass friend who swore it was easy. Our wide tundra hit the rock wall and our front tire was destroyed. We navigated down with a spare on in the dark. Found this video and we are seriously questioning whether to be friends with the guy who swore it was easy. Lol Titus Canyon was amazing!
@@ExploringCabinsandMines sorry but I need proof of that. I went early last year and got stuck up in the pass where there was some seriously sharp pointing boulders sticking out the road. Decided it was too sketchy doing it in a taco but it didn't have 4X4. I seriously doubt a Subaru could get through that section.

Amazing part of the country, I've done this road a few times in one of my vans!

Greetings from CO, stay the trail and tread lightly.
Had so much fun on this trip! Thanks for the support!
I'd say Steele Pass is the most difficult / technical for full size trucks... especially Raptors

I ran this trail top to bottom in a JK with rear ARB locker. Fat trucks look cool but you dont want your t/ts or a$$ hanging out.

Absolutely! And we use them for what they’re built for all the time. Just not on a series geared towards newbie off-roaders :)
@@desertchief5769 Ok, I didn’t realize that. 🍻
Teakettle marked a water location near by.

I went down that trail by mistake my first time ever to death valley. Never again will I do that trail. Serious drop offs.

Subarus have made it so I'd say it's the driver.
