I receive my news from many sources, even those which have failed to be largely reputable in the eyes of their peers, such as Reddit and Fox. Sometimes they get lucky and actually report news, but most of the time I have to take to the chore of filtering through nonsense to get to that news.

Michelle Wolf is the only comedian that doesn't play to either side of the political spectrum. I thought this was funny and I really enjoyed it! She is real and calls people out on their BS, which I think we all can admit is something none of us enjoy. @Nicholas Thompson feminism has been warped into ignorance through the views of Fox News, the government, etc. There are extremists of any movement, but feminism is based on the fact that men and women were created equal. Women do not make as much as men do, they are not given appropriate health benefits, and if you want to compare things to the Middle East let's compare everything. What is happening there isn't acceptable or humane in any way you shape it, but there are advocates speaking out on those issues and fighting that fight. But, a lot of women aren't forced to wear their burkas, it is their choice based on religion and culture. America will never be truly great until it is great for everyone, as a white man it's great for me, but seeing the pure ignorance and hate so prevalent in our country and how it is not even acknowledged that this country has been built on it. She went too far when she degraded cauliflower, comparing it to Fox [sic Faux].
Her comedy was genius, on point and she spoke some real sh*t. The crowd seemed so afraid to laugh. Insecure about what other people's reaction to them laughing would be. Some of the crowd would of laughed more but too busy trying to be politically correct. She talked about important topics, but people are so scared of being real and respecting real talk. Those that clapped and laughed I applaud you. The negative comments about her comedy are probably from people who are for the same people she's talking about. I love her comedy, she's bringing what's going on in this world which is spinning off it's axel to the for front. For her work with UNICEF, she spent time in Cox's Bazar refugee camp in Bangladesh (the world's largest refugee camp) for Rohingya Muslims, a native minority group from Myanmar who are denied citizenship and basic rights from Myanmar's government, and are facing ethnic cleansing on such a scale that can only be described as genocide. Gigi actually did really good humanitarian work.

@Philomena Weekes Gigi's father is a refugee, so the work is somewhat personal to her. I get what you're saying, but it kind of sounds like you didn't look into any of the work she did. Like, there isn't paparazzi inside refugee camps in developing countries lol, so I'm not really sure what you mean by gawping at babies and pulling sad faces for the camera. She really didn't get much publicity for her trip besides what she posted on her own social media. I'm not trying to say she isn't an INCREDIBLY privileged celebrity, but she's still capable of doing work out of the good in her own heart. And people who do spend years working for humanitarian causes in war zones do get awards lol...they get awards much more prestigious than "Variety's Women of the Year", for example I'm sure you know who Malala Yousafzai is, the Pakistani woman who was the youngest winner of any Nobel prize ever, she won the Peace prize in 2014 for humanitarian work. Just one example.

Aww. I was really hoping she'd be as funny here as she was at the WHC Dinner. It just wasn't a good set, and the few jokes she had that would have worked somewhat were ruined by her delivery. I've seen her live before and she does it live too -- just that habit of giggling or chuckling at her own joke immediately, before the audience even has time to react. Plus her timing was ruined by the way she continuously read directly from her notes. Anytime she tried not to, she messed up words. Just really awkward all around.
Also as a black woman, I can say that her attempts at pandering to black people felt heavy-handed and out of place. Yeah it's true that black women have to deal with racism and sexism but I don't think we need to be highlighted as the victims everyone has to support. Women of color in general need support, and she had no inclusive message for Latina women, Asian women, Indigenous women, or any other non-white women. That kind of undermined her attempted message.
So, no hate. Just an honest, specific set of reasons why this sucked. I still support women and female comedians, but that doesn't mean I can't call them out when they don't deliver.

As a non-American, Pakeha Kiwi woman, I heard her calling out white women. Something I feel is long overdue.
For example: Aotearoa New Zealand is celebrated as being the first country in the world to grant women the vote.
And it's true.
For white women.
Tangata Whenua Māori Women? Our Wahine? No, not them. Their rights came later.
So I, as a white woman (Pakeha), do need to reflect on the systemic causes that were built by previous generations ... and that I need to add my voice to dismantling those systems that I benefit from today; because the system continues to discriminate against my non-pakeha sisters.
None of us are free when one of us is chained. 💗
