1978 gt80 was my first bike. I was 7 years old and rode it to death. I kept it all these years and someone stole it a few years ago. I miss that thing

Great bike and Christmas story! I'll never forget my 1971 AT1 125 Christmas at 12 years old. I ordered a new 2021 CRF300L last fall and it arrived Christmas eve after waiting 4 months. I thought that was perfect timing. Another motorcycle Christmas! God bless America!

I had a '73 Gt 80, the MX one. Sure brings back memories seeing them on YT. Hours and hours of fun in the sun.

Finally got my hands on the 78 GT80 my grandfather bought new for my mom and her sisters. Its bounced around a few different family members over the years and now its my turn. It needs some love but I can't wait to get it back to its former glory.

I had a 78 or 79 honda Elsinore 50.. I rode that bike for the majority of my childhood it always ran and sounded really similar to this one. It never had any issues

Hi, I'm from Nicaragua, Central America. In 1992 I bought a 2-stroke yamaha gt 80cc motorcycle, model 1988, I bought it from a neighbor for US$800 with an 8-month term but since I had an accident 2 times, I paid for it in 10 months hahaha. In 1995 I sold it and I regret it to this day because I lent that money plus US$200 to add US$1,000 and they didn't pay me, my father's cousin was my rat lawyer hahaha Until now when I see this video and hear that sound it came to me mind my cute little Yamaha GT 80cc two-stroke motorcycle. GOD BLESS YOU MUCH MORE.

The most a guy could hope for when buying a used bike from %90 of dealers is a oil change, except for as is sales. N.E.M.M. makes a guy feel strong when bidding👏

This brings back memories, I had a 74 GT if I remember correctly, a red one. I rode the wheels off of that bike. That started my lifetime love of motorcycles as well. I grew up on a farm here in Canada and I rode it so much that my mom knew something was wrong if she didn't hear the bike running! because it was running all the time!

Had a 75, was my first bike too! Couldn’t get me off it. Except when mom had to pick it up off me. The year I got it was 1980, I was 11. 🥰🏍️ still addicted to dirt oriented bikes. I have no need for street only. I have to get dirty! Will be 54 in a couple weeks.

Love the Christmas story lol, I’m going to go buy a gt80 for a gift next week, but I’m not sure what year it is, do you happen to know if they changed anything over the years? Any information would be great, and sweet bike!

I would imagine they needed to be a certain brightness from a certain distance according to Department of Transportation standards. And they didn't have that kind of light power back then

    • @alloriginal62

Because they used the same ones on all enduros that year.

  • @jonmccormick8683

I hated these bikes. They had no power and you had to rev the shit out of them to get any power.
My 1976 XL100 had way more power and I switched with another's GT60 I think. -Kept stalling on me since no torque.
When I was a kid someone had a mini Yamaha GT60 or DT60 at their garage sale (1981?) for $150-200 and I thought it was the greatest thing I ever saw. (yellow bike). Dreamed of that bike for years as a kid.
70's trail bikes are the best of times. 60's Mini-Bikes started the trend.

I have the same bike in better condition. I think I broke the kick spring so its kinda limp ish. Also it needs a full go through. Its been in a basment for 40 years and now my garage. I will reach out for info to get this fixed up.

Only downfall , when the chain falls off it bends the clutch pushrod

    • @jcammons3692
      @jcammons3692 ปีที่แล้ว

Yep. That happened to mine. Pulled the side cover off and think we straightened the pushrod by putting it in a drill and tapping it until it was true.
