Do you know if this laptop is RAM upgradable?
Being durable and water proof is easy. How well does it perform. They are typically under powered, poor performers. Below average performance.
Price of rugged laptop
I've always wanted to buy a rugged laptop but the prices just simply are not justifiable for what you get. The performance is almost always lower than a $1k - $1.3k consumer laptop which is pretty sad. No amount of ruggidization could ever justify the gap in pricing for the specs they offer. The day they bring these down to reasonable price levels is the day I buy one.
buy used or refurbished besides you dont buy these laptops for performance. you buy them for basics in hazard enviroments
@@BuckingHorse-Bull I am very aware of both your suggestion and the purpose of current rugged laptop lineups for most companies. Getac makes some awesome equipement that is quite powerful but those models cost $15k+. Quite a gap in price to performance ($1.5k - $2.5k hardware not including the chassis). I know you'd be paying for the reliability of not only the equipment but the company to replace it quickly which is fantastic, but some people don't want the replacement part of that equation (my stance) because that part does drastically increase the price of the hardware. I simply want a laptop that's built like a tank with modern hardware in it. A good company to jump on this would be framework laptops. Making a rugged chassis for their current hardware could displace this market quite a bit.

While it is quite durable, these laptops are not on par with the current laptops when it comes to performance.

$8000? Buy an iPad and slap an Otterbox case onto it. Good enough for most industry use.

I have one of those. However, my company saved money on every corner because the specs are shit.
Mine is has an Intel 7100, 4GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro. Touchscreen which is bright but the colours are terrible. It also has no HD resolution.
I want to toss it into the ocean.
