Nice variety of tones. I have a J bass with a preamp and like having the extra tonal variety and punch. Your point of not going overboard in active mode is well taken, the key for me in active mode is to make it sound like I enriched the natural tone. It takes some experimentation. Thanks Anthony!
In passive mode I prefer the Player over Player Plus. Obviously the Player Plus offers more flexibility with active eq. I personally would go for the Player but I’m pretty much a traditionalist.
Fender basses are like the apple of instruments. They release new products on a pretty set cycle and they arent very different from one to the next. There is like a $1300 difference between the player and the ultra, and there isnt a HUGE difference between them. Yes the ultra is better, but its better in fairly minor ways. The player and player plus still sound and feel like fender basses. If you have the money to blow, sure get an ultra. But if you get either of these, chances are you likely be just as happy with it. Its all in what you do with your fingers. If youre a good bassist, any fender will sound good in your hands.
I am no pro and have never personally tried the Fender Player Series basses, but the sound in this video is 99% the same as my Squire VM 70s, so I seriously would never pay the extra money for a Fender logo... Maybe the Fender will last longer and is better quality overall, but sound-wise I really don't think it's worth it..
I think the biggest difference between player and squire is hardware and the neck. The neck feels great on the Squire but you may need more frequent truss rod adjustment as many seem to feel their necks move a lot.
I remember when instruments were all about the music. These days it's about gear. People are buying 4-5 different bass guitars and many of them can't even play well. I think people need to start focusing on their chops, opposed to trying to keep up with Fender's 75 different basses. Tons of these TH-cam reviews on different bass guitars and then you hear them play sounds like crap. Get you 1 bass guitar and REALLY learn how to play, instead of just showing how many guitars you have on TH-cam. And this is no disrespect to the guy on this video. His job is to sell instruments and he can actually play. I'm just saying in general. That's my rant for today lol!!
I have 4 basses and all of them sound like bass guitars.

IF and only IF you can tell the difference - if not, it’s money wasted
The noiseless has a cleaner “less noise” sound from strings specifically the E strings. Good thing you can swamp out the pickups. 👍🏼
very good and useful comparison. thanks
My question is the Player Series worth the extra 200-250 dollars over the Squire VM 70's Jazz Bass ?

Thanks, Anthony, for the great review (and great playing)!
Thanks Anthony excellent playing 🎸🎸👍🍺🍺
good review-subbed
To me the player plus sounds brighter and not as deep.
The passive sound of the standard player has more depth and the tone sounds richer imo
Player plus👍
Player plus vs vintera 70?
just got the active j bass from u guys. the four string Pearl white with maple fretboard. real nice bass.
Awesome. Enjoy! Thanks for watching - Anthony
I'm getting a player plus jazz in a few days!!
Enjoy it!! Great Basses! Thanks for watching - Anthony
can i get a sound just like the player series with 0% tone on the active player plus?
I would like to know too
REVIEW CHANNELS NEVER DEMO THE PASSIVE MODE WITH NO TONE ON BRIDGE PICKUPS AND THAT’s THE ONLY REASON I WANT A J BASS
Can it work without a battery installed?
Pretty sure there's an active/passive switch 👍

You will not find out the bass is blind sounding. No! Fuck!
Same sound has a Chinese bass on the new strings(
Onanism
Rosewood or pau ferro fingerboard over maple anytime!
