    Another great review! I love the tidepool and buttercream finishes on these new player series basses. I haven't had the chance to play one of these yet but I definitely see one of them in my future. Thanks as always for the review, Daniel!

      Oh I'm sure I will! I've got a modded Squier jazz with Seymour Duncan quarter pounders in it that sounds killer. Just looking to take the next step up the ladder. I'm trying to phase out my active basses for shows. They sound great, but too many variables.

    I just got mine, and I am really happy with my purchase. I was ready to by an American made version, but just couldn't see parting with that much money.
    These seem to get great reviews, and your demo was great in showing how you can get different styles out of these basses. I was always a PJ bass player,
    just so I had the options, but I can make every song my band plays work with this bass. It feels really expensive. I'll bring another as back up, but this will be played all night.

    I live in Pasco now but used to live in Pinellas County. I never heard of this shop, so I will stop by since it is only 45 minutes from me. I get tired of the big box stores like Sam Ash and Guitar Center.....better to support local small businesses whenever possible. Great review. I have an American made Fender Jazz Elite 5 string in tobacco sunburst and two Squires basses as well. The color on this Mexican bass is really beautiful.

    Sixth month update: Fret edges had to be smoothed couldn't be ignored. Put a 75 jazz pickup in the bridge position. The neck pickup is perfect. With the work the bass is still under a thousand. I haven't experienced the famous dingle coil hum yet. I play into a 100w acoustic combo. The 9nly pedal is a boss 7 band bass eq. Excellent sound and feel to avoid walking around with a vantage instrument. Note the pickup replacement was a personal choice the original is good I actually put it in another bass.

      @@samplezofficial I think at an intermediate level an upgrade would suit you, because honestly the Affinity isn’t the world’s greatest playing experience because of cheaper feel. Hey dude! I haven't played the Jazz Bass with the Pau Ferro, but have played and reviewed the Jaguar with the Pau Ferro. At first I was skeptical about it, but I discovered that the Pau Ferro is nice and smooth to the touch. A little smoother than rosewood.

    • @RumblinMan
      @RumblinMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sauerpickle4926 Yes, the fretboard material definitely makes a difference in sound. It is a subtle difference; one that some people wouldn't even detect. But the maple fretboard will have a brighter, more crisp sound than the Pau Ferro. The Pau Ferro is warmer-sounding, but still has some nice highs. I like the maple though... amzn.to/2pZ80Vx

      Bass Boy J very nice! Since you already have a PJ, I’d go with something that’ll give you a different sound, Ike an Epiphone Cassidy, a straight up Jazz Bass like the Player, or something like a Yamaha TRBX304.

I have considered the basses you mentioned, but to me, it wasn’t the sound that I was looking for. However, the Sire does have active electronics, so if that’s something you value, it might be the right choice. To me, however, the Fender is a safer bet. You always know what you’re getting.
