This man can be summed up in one word. “Legend.”
Agreed!
Legend? With no ballon d'or nor UCL?
@@wefijds If you're saying that you've still got a lot to learn in life
@19994able the point of elite sports is to win the biggest trophies. Anything less is not worth mentioning
@@wefijds i'll say again. You've got a lot to learn in life (or maybe you never will)
This is awesome.
He's the English version of Kazuyoshi Miura.
Nice to see players who continue playing, even after getting older.
Thank you pal! It's a great story. Glad you enjoyed it
And Mirua is the Japanese version of Stanley Mathews. When he retires, another Japanese player has to play on until the same age. Let's keep the tradition alive 😁
He looks like 65.
Awesome. Keep going. There is a guy in our Wednesday night football who is 67, he runs like he's 30 still, it is incredible and his words to me are to just keep going, the day you stop is the day you slow down.
That's incredible! Those Wednesday leagues are tough as well. Fair play to him 👍
We had a guy on Monday night football 61 years old 6 a side he was incredible did a scissor kick clearance we nicknamed him Hadrians Wall because he was Scottish. Total inspiration
Great mantra for life. Helps to keep that youthful spirit.
@@dabro2080Fuck me! No wonder you nicknamed him that! 😂😂😂
I just played a Wednesday night game at age 35 and I am sore all over.
Used to have Cureton in my dream teams when I was a young kid in his Bristol Rovers days along with Jason Roberts, and I’m nearly 40 now! Legend.
Proper legend! We agree
plonk
54 and still playing, the only downside from 25+yrs ago is all the fannies today diving about thinking they're playing in the premiership. It's quite embarrassing to watch.
Stanley Matthews, Tom Finney, both played well late in their careers (both into their 50’s I think). Why not anyone if they’re still fit and still enjoy playing?
Diving 🫤
You'll understand because you're from my generation. My gaffer would have had you running laps after the match until you collapsed if you ever took a dive. Those days were definitely different. Back when a two foot tackle was legal and you just got up and shook it off rather than crying to the ref for a foul.
@@100percentSNAFU a two foot tackle breaks legs, glad your generation is done
@@100percentSNAFU two foot tackles can cause life changing injuries you knobhead
They are playing in the premiership though. It was embarrassing to watch the fannies 25+ years ago thinking they knew how to play football. Smashin' into one another like a bunch of gobshites.
The goal he scored at Brentford to get us promoted will be a 'forever' moment for Royals fans. I love him to bits (him and Alfie Le Fondre).
Make sure you check out our vid with Adam Le Fondre as well then 👍
I saw le fondre at Hebbern town when he played for fc united a couple of months ago. He didn't score you could tell he'd played at a much higher level.
Alfie was at Sydnee FC and loved scoring sausage rolls!
Most people can stay in really good shape for most of their life if they safely keep at it. My grandpa rode his bike 30 - 50 miles every day. His calf muscles at 85 were more defined than anyone I've ever seen. It's crazy.
50 miles every day, fair play to him
I just love his enthusiasm for the game. Good on him. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He loves football!!
Best striker we ever had at Colchester. He was lethal for us. Legend
So many people are saying what a legend he is for their club. Made a real impact wherever he went
Up the U's baby! 💙🤍⚽
Same at exeter dude
Really good player. Aberdeen were linked to him 20 odd years ago. Would have been a great signing for us. Love that he's still in the game and enjoying it.
He loves football pal! Thanks for watching 🙌
Wow! I remember him from years ago. Fair play to him. Stanley Matthews played until he was 50.
It's amazing how many football fans remember him 🙌
Loved him at Reading, top striker.
Top striker, top bloke as well
I'm not into football at all but I always like someone who follows their passion against all odds if it doesn't hurt anyone . God bless you sir.
One word describes this man. LEGEND
We agree
Saw him on his 1000th appearance for Bishop's Stortford, legend!
Allez les bleus!
Wow, I never knew he played over a thousand games for Bishop Stortford. 😉🤫🙃
Pretty sure I have seen Jamie Cureton play, probably for Bristol Rovers, but remember him as someone who was always being mentioned as having scored a goal...hope he makes it to 400 sometime soon and can then hang his boots up and concentrate on managing...half expect to hear stories of him playing walking football at the age of 80 (if I'm around long enough). Still loving these vlogs, nice to see the number of subscribers and views rising, the quality of content is high and deserves to be watched by more people.
Thank you for the lovely words! We're glad you enjoy the videos 🙌 we're looking forward to seeing Jamie reach the 400 goals tally too 😃
Brilliant content mate!! Love every 'minute of non-league
Thank you pal! It means so much that people share our passion for Non-League 🤝
Great video as always chaps! This new stadium looks great! Having lived in Bishop's Stortford and gone to Uni in Exeter, Jamie has followed me around a fair bit! Good to see him still going strong!
Appreciate that pal! Bishops stortford my local club. I grew up watching them play many years ago 👍
Loved him at Colchester United. Strong, committed and a real handful in the box. He was Player of the Season 2006/07 and Football League Championship Golden Boot 2006/07.
Class act all round
Jamie Cureton the Benjamin Button of football...What a character and what a goalscorer...⚽️⚽️⚽️
Great to see JC still playing and scoring at 49 and I'm sure those 6 goals will be bagged quickly in the near year to get him to the 400 mark!!!...⚽️🔥👏🏻😍
Happy New Year to all at Location Football and everyone on here and here's to an even better 2025 for us all!!!...🎉🎊🥳🥳⚽️⚽️🏟🏟😍
Thank you for the support! 2025 is going to be a great year!!! Up the Non-League 🙌
fair play to him
Indeed 👍
Absolute legend for The Gas. Top man!!
Cheers for watching Andy!
Jamie Cureton......What a guy 👍💪😁🇬🇧
What a guy indeed
He's just a kid, still playing at 72 here in BC Canada. ( over 60s league).
Just a kid at 72 😂 fair play to him that amazing he's still playing
Fair play to him but keeping up at 49 in non league is wayyy more impressive
@@eddy562wdym playing at 72 might be more impressive bro some people in wheelchairs at that age haha
@@harrymacer1660in an over 60’s league. He’s nearly 50 playing against 18-25 year olds at a decent level, it’s much more impressive.
@ it’s an impressive age to still be running around don’t get me wrong 😂 but to be still playing a very good level where some boys are still trying to make it pro is mental
At Reading we love Jamie Cureton. His goal at Griffin Park was the start of the greatest period in our history.
So many football fans have a great story about Cureton! It's great to hear
Legend
He most certainly is 👍
Defo mr Massey Burnley fan
The man the mole the legend. Keep chasing that 400 .. Hope you get there .. keep doing what you love...
Agreed!
This is a true athlete who loves just playing, the games.
Loves the game! 👍
Great story about a great guy 👍 need more of his sort 🎉
Thanks for watching pal, we agree. More Jamie Cureton's! : )
He is such a friendly and down-to-earth guy.
He's a top bloke thats for sure
Comes across as an intelligent guy with loads to offer as a manager
Yeah we agree. Plenty these lads can learn from him
I love non league stories like this.
We do our best to find them and share them with everyone 🙌
Tbf, this isn’t really a “non-league story”.
Jamie Cureton had a huge league career. He didn’t drop down to the non-league until he was in his 40’s.
At the end of the 2014/15 season, he was 3 months off his 40th birthday - he’d scored 20 goals that season in League 2.
Many TH-cam viewers may be too young to recognise him and, these days, most young people have no interest in learning what came before their own lives - but, make no mistake, this man is a FOOTBALL LEAGUE LEGEND.
Love them too mr massey Burnley fan
Go and look at the 1988 FA Vase winners Colne Dynamos.
Fantastic story and man! Much respect from America
Amazing thank you for watching!
Wow, he was playing when I was a kid 😂
Great to see how much Jamie loves football. Hope he gets the 400!
Incredible career and to still be signed on at 49 is class! we hope he reaches that number too
What a unique story and another angle on non_League football. Great content.
Very unique indeed, thanks for the kind words. We hope you enjoy the channel
He was great in the early 2000's! I remember him playing for Bristol Rovers and banging in the goals!
Absolute goal machine
Around the 10:00 minute mark Jaimee talks about instinctual acts of play. I couldn't help but immediately think of the famous speech made by John Kennedy in '74 as coach of Hawthorn FC, here in Australia playing in the VFL, now known as AFL.
Known as the Mayblooms from 25-49, the club was the perennial whipping boy of the league with a casual attitude towards the game. The club played their first finals series in '57 winning week 1 but knocked out the following. 3 more seasons passed finishing mid table and this is when it all changed...
John Kennedy took control in '60 taking them from easy beats to the most respected and revered club in the League. He epitomised and taught all the values and attitudes that the club cherishes to this day. These were overwhelmingly a sense of TEAM, total DISCIPLINE, total INTEGRITY, and WILL to WIN at all costs. These traits and ethos created the Hawthorn FC of today which is the only club to have won premierships in each decade of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. This is an incredible achievement when you consider a club like saint kilda havent won a single premiership in 58 years, last tasting success in '66..
Sorry for the tangent! Back on track....the speech. In '75, John Kennedy who was known for his oratory skills, gave his famous speech imploring his players not not to leave it for someone else to do, not to say oh youll do it next time but for each and every individual to not think but 'do'. Win, lose or draw(unfortunately they did lose) but it was about winning the ball, cooperation as a team, being desperate and it may well go wrong but if he as the coach was game enough to say it, are you player's game enough to back me up on that?
The speech is obviously much longer but what adds to the emotion of it all was that the club captain Peter Crimmins had battled testicular cancer that year with two bouts of chemo and only managing to play 5 games in the reserves, whilst declaring he was fit and eager to play the club ultimately decided the risk of a hit was too great and the concern for his health was more important.
The speech can be found here on TH-cam but here's a snippet .....
He's not happy, he wasn't happy about it, who would be?(Speaking of Crimmins being left out of the side) But I can't understand the mentality of blokes. And even the governor, Sir Henry Winneke, he has often said, “At least do something"'.
(The following was in his trademark booming voice)
Do. Don't think, Mick, don’t hope. Do. At least you can come off and say, 'I did this, I shepherded, I played on. At least I did something for the sake of the side. Do. Act. Don’t think, act.
There's a story here worthy of being given before the clubs most important game for the season i feel. A sporting club is a sporting club, a grilled, fried or poached sausage is still just a sausage.
Really enjoyed this! Great work
Top man thank you for the kind words
The game needs more Jamie Cureton's. No two ways about it.
Couldn't agree more 👍
Great stuff! Played against him when he was at Farnborough and he was a different class!! (He scored a hattrick!)
Great video chaps!!
Get down to Winchester City soon 👌🏻🔴⚫️
Absolutely pal! Would love to. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 🙌
@ it’s brilliant and gets better every episode!!
Look us up and would be very welcome at the winch 👌🏻
Keep up the good work 👏🏻👏🏻
Remember when he signed for exeter. Best pure striker ive ever seen in person
What a Legend! Another player that did a similar thing was Andy Hessenthaler.
Proper legend!
I have been playing constantly for almost 25 years with 2-3, six-ish month breaks for injuries.
Fair play to sir that class
I signed him on championship manager 01/02 and he’s still playing 🤯
That's madness haha but also brilliant
Incredible achievement
Hopefully he gets to 400 goals
Always used to buy him on championship manager
haha so did I, Mark Kerr was another one! lol
Respect.
Always admired Jamie Cureton as a Luton Town fan likewise Kevin Phillips both players had great longevity in the game, in a few seasons players like these should look into starting up some sort of coaching for players over 30 years old to help them stay in the game longer.
Great idea, he's a proper player. Incredible career
I always particularly associate him with Reading! Steve Claridge another legend that played well late into his career. I love it. Still fit, still enjoy the game, why not? Big up 👍
top man, great comment. Thanks for watching the vid
Great striker. Won me a few quid with his goals. Good luck m8 and get that 400 up 🙏🙏👍👍
Lot of fans speak so highly of him when he was at their club
When he was at Reading I hoped he would join my team Portsmouth and some point. He knew where the goal was!
He most certainly did! 👍
I remember him!!!
He's a proper legend
Well done Jamie. Keep kicking!
Be good when he scored his 400th goal
never stop
Agreed!
I believe I was there for his first ever professional goal at Carrow Road. Coming on as a sub against Chelsea and scoring a header after about 13 seconds for Norwich. I was about 15 at the time. Now 45!
That's incredible
I see hes lost his Bristol accent since we were kids on the East Park Estate in Eastville
Your right their boy
You should go to watch Leamington FC. The manager, Paul Holleran, has managed over 700 games and has to be one of, if not the longest serving manager in English football currently. He has been in charge since 2009.
Thank you for the recommendation!! Will add to the list 🙌
He’s got a great attitude.
He speaks very well and these players can lear a lot from him for sure 👌
Top player my mate Andy Payton played for afewclubs Burnley boro hudd Celtic barnsley but always said this lad wos atop player like him mr massey
Whats Andy payton doing these days
Very impressive
Very impressive indeed
I had no idea he was so old. Very good player.
Very good player indeed
We have 4 blokes over 70 ,including me in our over 45s team here i Sydney. Bloody hard chasing a young 50 year old . 😂
Haha fair play to you guys. Young 50 year old tickled me 😂
Love this!
Thank you pal 👍
Amazing story!
Non league is the heart of English Footy.
We agree! Hopefully we can get a few more football fans down to their local club 🙌
amazing - good job :)
Cheers 👍
Remember him from Exeter, good player too
Proper player weren't he
@ great player, good to see him still going! Great video
This is ours on the concacaf youtube channel.
Ding legend
He should be made a ‘Sir’.
Absolutely!
here we go again
Welcome back 😃 hope you enjoy the vid
Vaguely remember, as a kid in the early 90s, Cureton dancing with his two pals in Spirals nightclub or Papillons.... they took it quite seriously.
haha was he a good dancer lol
Another 10 years why not ? Love these sort of stories ♥️⚽🥅🏐😂
Imagine getting to 40 having been in the EFL and going, i'll play another 10 years, its incredible. class guy.
if you search him on wikipedia it says he's retired and is now the manager
I thought that too, but when I spoke to him he said he's registered and will be playing some games.
Never stop playing . While you can still move
Stanley Matthews
I'm an Ipswich fan and remember JC when he came on for Norwich in '96 (I think ) with his hair dyed green.. obviously I hated him. Years later I started watching Dagenham as I lived not far away and I loved watching him, he was brilliant for Daggers.
He did dye his hair green that's true!
What a man. He's a year older than me and I "retired" (from amateur football) 25 years ago 😂
Wild isn't it how he's still playing
Looks good for 49. Exeter legend
Proper legend
Thought this was going to be about Danny Kedwell. He has played for Ashford a few times this year and scored
How old is he pal? That's amazing he's still going 👍
LOve it!
Thank you
Curacao may play vs saudi arabia in next years concacaf gold cup.
It's him and Lee Trundle.
Lee Trundle another legend!
I know a goalkeeper who in his 40 and he still plays
That's class, where's he playing?
@ Retford fc he use to play for Sutherland and black pool. there in the gce hire fleet united counties football league division one
Craig Gordon at Hearts.
That GK is an ex-hashtag united GK, im sure of it!
Indeed, it's James Philp
Curacao on the major league baseball youtube channel.
you dont choose to retire your club / manager retires you. So as long as his club still think he has something to offer he will be aloud to carry on . Dont say much about the youth if an old player like that still has to play .
Nonsense. It’s up to the player when they retire.
@@JF1908x err no it isnt. Basically what happens is your contract wont get renewed then your out , quite simple .
at 49 he's barely run in. Plenty of miles left on the clock.
I hope I'm still playing at that age 🙌
i believe in a thing called lovee
Fair play that man. Proper example to young players, obviously lives life properly 🫡
Absolutely couldn't agree more
He might play into his 50s
Every chance!
He's got the same birthday as me lmao
Like Stanley Matthews.
i am sure i bought him when i had cm long time ago
I did the same 😂 him and Taribo West
Swear I thought it was going to be a vid on Vardy
That will be episode 2 : )
I thought he retired when he at farnsborough at like 43....lol .
Was a decent striker around the lower leagues
He still going pal 🙌
@LocationFootball yeah i remember being impressed when he made it to early 40s at dagenham ...i also remember him as a youngster at norwich also...danny bullman was another one who was still playing in league 1 at something like 43...wonder if he is playing at lower levels
My next door neighbour is 81 he runs 5km every morning then goes to gym for a 2 hr work out then he's in garden doing meditation then on a night time does 13km run & that's daily thatscwhat you call dedication
That's incredible
The English Kazuyoshi Miura
What a player he is 👍
Broke my foot missing studs. Don't do that lads.
Ouch!
I think at 89 he should consider retiring
Refuses to retire...he's retired.
