Over here in NZ we have over 900 huts and shelters in the forests and mountains. In my local mountain range, we have over 50. Some are modern others are 80-100 years old, but all are palaces when it's raining or there is a blizzard blowing. Enjoyed the video ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😀😀
Wow I didn't know this. The Southern Alps are stunning and knowing this makes them even more amazing in my eyes. Need to go back. Thanks for watching and leaving the comment. ATB.
Adventure before dementia. Like that line. Get out and live while you can and all that. I have visited loads of bothies all over the UK. Love them hence the vid. Thanks for watching.
I don’t think America has Bothys . The Adirondack mountains use to have a few shelters, in the 60s. Maybe they are still maintained, I don’t know. America is not a welcoming country now. Scotland is a wonderful place. I wish I could live there.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NEVER EVER LEAVE FOOD, CLOTHING OR CAMPING EQUIPMENT; CANDLES AND FUEL ONLY; EVERYTHING ELSE IS RUBBISH A VOLUNTEER HAS TO CARRY OUT !!
Thanks for your feedback. I understand your thoughts but must disagree. I have been very grateful for food and clothing on past trips. If I use food left then I take the now rubbish out with me. Each to their own though and yes food with a short shelf life or was easily accessed by rodents is not advisable.
Are you an MBA volunteer? I am. Please do not leave food or equipment it encourages mice and has to be cleared away. No one is going to die because you didn't leave food !!
@@davidhouldershaw-zt4ur I am not David no. Thanks for the work you do. As i said, i understand your point. I was purely talking from my own previous experience, where I've appreciated these items being left. I was caught out and appreciated the tin of tuna that was left. I of course took the rubbish away with me. I guess idiots who leave rubbish behind spoil it for others.
Thank you for your kind comments Unfortunately experience is that a single tin of bins kindly left is added to often leading to perishables and a vermin problem; roll mats get shredded by mice; sleeping bags and clothing become damp and mouldy....bothies become unhealthy spaces and clearing up eats into the time available to maintain the buildings
@@davidhouldershaw-zt4ur I get this. I will add a comment about this below the video I've made. Obviously don't want to negatively affect these amazing shelters and the work that many including yourself do. ATB

Those stunning glens should have trees.
Agreed. Too much deforestation.
