@Concrete Head what about the Nukeproof scout 290 race? I'm about to pull the trigger on the Scandal as there is just no stock of Vitus or Nukeproof anywhere
Was looking at the frame on that to replace my old 2016 Boardy 29er pro frame but it looks like they have jacked the price up well beyond reasonable for now. Cheers for the review.
I put a thread locker compound in the rear axle dude..i discovered sometime when a person borrowed my bike for a wheelie testing and the rear axle went loose gradually. And after 24hrs of curing the loctite compound, my rear axle upto to this day never came loose..ride safe
Nice one. Got mine right back at the start of spring when they were a ridiculous £149 for the frame and headset, built it up quite light and it makes a great antidote to my big burly full suspension bike on local trails. Bargain.
Thank you for the great review. its really a nice bike. i´ve got a BigDog and Bootzipper, both are greate aswell! looking forward to see the JackFlash on this channel.
Hi :) I own early release of that Scandal on ShimanoXT, RS 35, WTB Vigilante 2.4 tires and Crank Brothers dropper. Since this year I am learning more MTB and Enduro. For person that mostly ridden road bikes this is mastodon! It is half longer than road bike. You not sit on the bike, you are more in the bike. That build a lot of confidence on descendes and you could learn all fundamentals. On the ascends ... doing job but this is far away from cross country machine. Moreover it has short backend that going wheelie easly. This is raw trail/enduro hardtail. During assembly I got just one issue. Rear mount for brake calipers was mill to much and I had to use some spacers to put 180mm rotor (with adapter of course). If for various of reasons you don't want go to full suspention bike then new Scandal is great choice :) Cheers!
Good evening I ordered s yesterday I'm 5"6 with a about 28 inside leg hopefully done right came from road bike and getting a good deal on it many thanks for reply
I have this bike in the ‘curry sauce’ edition, it was an utter steal, less than £800 at the time plus I was able to swap the bars, stem and saddle. I put a Crank Bros dropper on it and its a fabulous ride, I’ve done some big days on it as well as local blasts. Could not recommend it enough! It’s just a shame the Planet X / On One customer service seems to have dropped off a cliff lately.
I'm the same at 5'9 I'm somewhere in between. I'm now on a Trek Remedy 9 and on their M/L and it's perfect. Can't work out why more aren't doing this for average size male, seems daft to fall between two sizes.
I'm really torn between this and the 'big dog' I've generally gone for steel hardtail in the past, but the big dog is £200 extra for the same specs, and weighs 700g more! It would have to feel exceptionally nicer to ride to make it worth the trade off's imo
I ordered a gx big bog 34 days for it to be delivered and the rims had big scratches on them so did the frame. I have been emailing them for weeks and still no response. Don't order from them look on there Facebook and see for yourself. Don't order from planet x. Just go to your local bike shop
Hey Guy, how do you think the Scandal would ride with a 110 fork and a more XC set-up? I’m looking for an affordable frame to build up for bikepacking/all-day rides and like the look of the Scandal, albeit a couple of degrees too slack for my use. This vs Sonder Dial.
For that sort of use I'd say the Dial is the better bet than the Scandal but have a look at the On One Whippet frame too. Really good speed bike and the frame is a bargain for carbon. Got a mate who's got one he's been battering for years with no ill effects.
What tyres is everyone running pls on their scandal? Mine came with vee top40 crush feel quite heavy so looking to change... Mostly do red routes on local trail all yr round.
I've got the big dog and I'm running the continental cross king on. The rear and mountain king on the front. I would say the cross king does lose a bit of grip at the time of year, bit generally performances is good for trail riding
@@GuyKesTV Brant seems to disagree saying everyone is riding bikes too big ! I am 5ft 11 and have ordered a large but am worried by his and other peoples opinions saying go medium for my size
@@GuyKesTV I've consider it 😁. But iv got a full sus and a gravel bike so I was hoping for somthing in-between. The hello dave might be abit of a slog betting it up hills ? 🤔 they are really cool though .
@@joelstephens9081 tbh there’s not much weight difference apart from the tyres (I know i was surprised too). The handling isn’t as wonky as you’d expect going up either. Big Dog or Scandal are definitely the more balanced all rounders though
Very similar. Merida BT 600 is slightly more forgiving in ride feel with better quality tyres and a dropper as standard. Scandal gives you more chance to change things around and it's a lot cheaper.
@@GuyKesTV Thanks for the reply! Just finished watching your Squatch vid. I have to say you're ability to recall and deliver bike specs while smashing the track is truly impressive! The Squatch looks amazing.
Concrete Head ‘reduce items to cost’? That’ll be every bike shop disappearing, which in turn will take away a lot of suppliers, and then your choice in bikes will be very very low...it maybe a surprise to some but the bike industry as a whole is a business and everyone needs to make money. That’s how business works!
Bought this 3 weeks ago when at 1K. Absolute bargain. Beast of a bike for the money. Put a dropper on it last week, absolutely sorted now.
@Concrete Head I was looking at that for ages but was never on stock. Need to be so quick to get one.

Sorry for delay Alex, yes small should be spot on. Enjoy
Thanks for the reply it's coming tomorrow 😊 can't wait
Omg got bike it's ace 4 pot and brilliant I had a Vitus nuclues 27 vrs this is way better
the current version is sitting a 1399, but honestly with the mrp raven forks instead of the rock shocks it's still well priced.

How does the frame compare to the earlier versions? Love how comfy, light and compliant my 2008 Scandal is.

This bike could be a good candidate for the Bafang BBSHD ebike kit?
Guy, which bike would be better for enduro style riding the ti scandal, hello Dave or the ti Dave?

@@GuyKesTV thanks guy, appreciate the replies. Any chance of a Dial ride review in near future? Would love to hear it pitted against the Chisel.
How would you compare this to the Ribble HT 275? I know they are different materials but do they ride very differently?
How is it on road? What did you pay for it?

What would you say is the better bike new line 10 or this ?
At 5’10” and in between the medium and the large. What size would you recommend for a newbie to mountain biking?
Definitely the large

Just general all round use, Scandal. Mainly because it's lighter
