3rd bike I’ve bought off your reviews. Tbf their current £699 price tag played a major part on this one. Silk Road and Rujo too. They’re making great bikes for fuck all money at the moment
Great review Guy. I’m thinking of getting one for my MTB bike packing trips. As an aside I didn’t catch the name of the trail you were riding here. As another aside I’ve been reading your reviews since you started writing about bikes 25 years ago. What happened to those big pointy sideburns you used to sport. 😊
This is great! I’ve been interested in this bike since it was announced but couldn’t find much on it. It seemed to have a lot in common with the big dog. Is it easy to move the wheels along the dropouts?
Absolutely fine. I've had three on different bikes now and we did a lot of miles on the one through Africa without an issue. Plastic lever looks a bit odd at first but removes any rattling noise and again just works fine.
Hey, great video! What size frame did you go for and what size dropper? I’ve just received mine and it’s a large frame with 150mm dropper but does seem a little large for me and I’m 5 foot 10! Cheers!
Ey up Darren, I'd say for more aggro trail riding Big Dog (and it's on offer ATMO). Huntsman adds gearing/geometry adjustability and a nice retro look but the back end is noticeably stiffer as a result.
@@GuyKesTV thanks for the reply, ordered the huntsman Sunday, decided the do everything adaptability was more me, but thanks for the reply, got the dropper post and wtb tyres all for less than £1k delivered to the door
Not that I can see. Plus the steel is pretty thick anyway. If you want to be double sure just spray some anti corrosion treatment down the seat tube and into the main tubes by removing the fork when you buy it 👍🏻
Hope some one local has had input into your welsh route. Welsh bridleways are in a far worse state than in England. Little use barbed wire and, in some valleys near Mach, rabid farmers. The Welsh Farmers Union doesn't fully accept their legality. I still get farmers arguing the toss.
Thank you Guy. ...I greatly appreciate your knowledge and opinion ! Happy Holidays !!
Would make a great bike packing rig with that selcof carbon fork and plus size tyres!

Nice review as ever. Goes some way to explain the difference with the big dog /scandal that I was confused about Cheers! Ps have a great Christmas 🎄
You too mate

I'm having right hand side crank arm striking the chainstay when putting the power down on mine so unfortunately it's going back under warranty
I"m thinking about ordering, a 44mm external headset will allow a tapered fork, correct?

Glad I could help. Yep, dropout movement is really easy and there’s a tensioning screw to keep the dropouts secure.
Just a quick question, how did the Selcof dropper post perform?
Absolutely fine. I've had three on different bikes now and we did a lot of miles on the one through Africa without an issue. Plastic lever looks a bit odd at first but removes any rattling noise and again just works fine.

So, for the money huntsman or big dog?

@@GuyKesTVI had almost the same question but Huntsman or Scandal? No bike packing. Just riding trails.
@@austinvoges2119 Probably Scandal, esp if you like a lighter bike for climbing and accelerating
Any rust 5 months later?

For me there is a lot to like about this BUT I think they have made it a bit too slack for the intended bikepacking/trail market................
Interesting. TBH I like a loaded bike to feel stable rather than twitchy but I realise most touring/packing bikes are a lot steeper.
Haha no 1
