9:17 Oh there's a light in the distance alright. That's the light of the otherworld cuz my soul just left my body remembering HOW GOATED THIS OPENING IS
Dino Thunder is probably my second favourite season (my favourite Jungle Fury is ways to go) out of all the Power Ranger seasons. I would remember waking up at 8 am on Saturday and watched the episodes with my little brother when it was airing. I remember how Mesagog used to be in my nightmares and how Connor batlizer was the coolest thing ever. And this series introduced me to the GOAT: Tommy Oliver. The Trassiac suit is still one of the greatest suits ever. And Trent being the first ranger to inspire me. Same can be said with the opening. I have a strong connection and admiration for Dino Thunder and I'm glad you did a good job with this review.
this season wasn't my introduction to pr, it wasn't the first one i saw, or even the first full episode, it wasn't even airing while i was the target demographic, but for some reason i've always felt such an attachment to this season, and for a long time it was my favourite, even over rpm, and i can't say why other than i just think it's a great season. i love how the characters aren't the heroic type, debatably not even good people at the start, and yet still rose to the occasion by the end. i love how the villains almost felt like psychological horrors but never lost their power rangers charm. i love the white ranger storyline just in general. i love how it manages to pay genuine tribute to the series legacy, and yet still did it's own thing without alienating new fans. most of all, i love how they made fun of themselves with lost and found in translation, comparing themselves to the poorly dubbed episode of abarenger, the fans of both them and the sentai with how the rangers react to it, and all the while never feeling ashamed of any of it. also some fun trivia, this was almost the final season, but for completely unrelated reasons to every other season that was almost the last, because it was the sentai that almost got cancelled. specifically, the white ranger, or abarekiller, was seen as so evil that the network took issue with it, and nearly cancelled the whole show over it. this is also the only reason the white ranger turned good in the sentai.
The edgiest PR series by far, and the only one with 5 rangers overall. I guess they thought having Tommy on board was more than enough. "Obviously everywhere except the net" I'm still recovering from that one to this day... Between the return of JDF (RIP), the 500th episode commemoration, and the Super Sentai juxtaposition, this series was truly a PR tribute.
In some ways, Dino Thunder is similar to most of neo saban era seasons, trying to recreate MMPR days, including having a dinosaur team made of teenager. The difference is that, while most of neo saban season just try to copy MMPR season, making the show feel stagnated and dated, Dino Thunder combine MMPR elements with the modern writting Power Rangers got after In Space. This season pays tribute to the past, but also the show evolution with it's story and characters. This is evident by the fact that, unlike the MMPR team, Kira, Ethan and Conner act ike real teeanger, with their own struggles and don't get along at first, which not only leaves room for them to grow but also puts Tommy in a scenario where he has step up as mentor and adapt this new group rangers.
Truly the best timing for this video It's a Christmas Miracle indeed and oh boi this season is so memorable for me as a kid, I remember watching it alot on dvd and tv I believe Lost & Found In Translation is one of the first times that invested me into Super Sentai the most aside from Super Megaforce and oh dang did i love how slightly botched it is with the self-awareness cause i felt exactly like Conner in that episode rlly at first, Not understanding it then getting invested with it
Amazing video as always conner!!! Random trivia that you probably know already: the actor that plays the baseball player in the Abaranger episode that they were watching in "Lost and Found in the Translation" also acted on Megaranger as a supporting character, and did the voice for the "3-3-5" in the morpher (that power rangers in space then just reused)
Man, I miss JDF. I haven't watched anything Power Rangers related since he passed. Im 31, I grew up watching the OG Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. JDF was the first actor I remember looking up to because I thought he was so cool. My younger siblings started watching Dino thunder and I got into it once I learned JDF was in it. Good bonding moment
I miss him too. He always replied to my instagram comments. I’m 33. When this season came out tbh I was in high school already. But seeing Tommy drew me back in to watching it. I remember eating breakfast getting ready for school. An then here comes “ professor O” . So cool watching him come back
1:08 it just hit me that he kicked the ball so hard it made a sonic boom effect and he didn't have powers at this point. Bro wtf kinda juice is he drinking
Thanks to your retrospective Power Rangers series, I've been going back and watching seasons of the show that I never saw when they originally aired. I recently finished S.P.D and started watching Operation Overdrive. I really liked S.P.D., they even had some crossovers with the Dino Thunder rangers. I didn't really like Operation Overdrive when it first started but slowly the characters kind of grew on me. I really like Spencer the butler. I think there's too many villains but it's all right. I'm just about to Overdrive's crossover episode. I do remember seeing it before, so I don't know how I missed the rest of the season. Anyways keep up the good work with this series. I'll watch each one.
I seem to recall most people don’t like Overdrive, and I don’t really care for it either. It’s just a whole lot dumber than a bunch of the seasons preceding it and coming after it, and I’ve never really cared for a lot of the seasons with an older cast of Power Rangers - generally, I think they’re best with teenagers, although some seasons like SPD are the exception.
I got into the franchise with Ninja Storm as a kid but Dino Thunder was the one that really made me a fan (being a dinosaur obsessed kid helped). But it was really cool how this season celebrated the franchise’s history with Tommy, especially since at the time I was renting VHS of the 90s shows, so it was really cool to see how it all connected.
This was honestly my introduction to Power Rangers! It came out at the perfect time in my life where I was JUST old enough to understand certain things (I was born in 2000), and I became OBSESSED with the show! Right now I have the Japanese Super Sentai versions of the morphers (not in the best conditions at all, but they still function), and a few weeks ago I got the Brachio Morpher signed by Jenna Frank (Jason David Frank’s daughter) at a convention. I went with my nephew, and he got to wear the Draco Morpher while I wore the original Dino Thunder morpher, and I got a pic of all 3 of us doing the morph poses. A moment I’ll cherish forever!😁 Also, I think watching that GBA gameplay in your vid unlocked a core memory of me playing the same game as a kid! Holy cow, the nostalgia!😧
The zeo power was use to make the turbo power. So that is how Tommy do not have zeo. Plus when the ep was made, they miss having turbo as one of him forms, but they mite have left turbo out do to him not being the only one with the power
@ the zeo powers weren’t used to make the turbo powers that’s just a fan theory’s not a canon explanation god i hate when fandoms do this when they use fan explanation to give actual explanations for plot holes. He doesn’t have turbo because the powers belong to TJ not him.
@@pillarsofsnow7940 Which was quite possibly a prototype master morpher. There's no time given for when Billy was able to reforge the powers so it could have been that. Or it could have been Adam giving Billy his restored morpher thanks to the sentinel knight in OVerdrive that helped Billy remake the original powers. A lot of different times that the og powers were restored could have helped him along
I WAS JUST WATCHING YOUR MMPR VIDEO A FEW MINUTES AGO!!!!!! Also, let me know if you do SPD. It’s my favorite season So fun fact: Abarekiller (the white ranger in Abaranger) didn’t really join the team until near the end, which was why the evil clone exists Also, during production: the writers thought AbareMax (the Triassic Ranger in Abaranger) was a separate Ranger, and we’re planning to make him Devin (yes, Cassidy’s cameraman, god I loved that guy) however when they found out that AbareMax was just an upgrade to Abared. This was dropped
About time you talked about this season. This is my favorite season of Power Rangers. Of course, because of JDF as the mentor, which is a smart writing move. Fighting Spirit needs to be shown in film classes. The cinematography and color grading is awesome.
I always squeal whenever you release a new video. I have so many notes that I'm just going to list them lol: -Cassidy is possibly one of the best side comic relief characters, and I appreciate the touch of her always wearing pink as if it was a nod to the unofficial pink abaranger -The matchup between Ninja Storm and Dino thunder was epic, basically being as good as what you see on the MCU - Trent's morph call feels like a nod to Tommy's special fight themes after becoming the White Ranger - despite the stock sound effects being the same as last season It feels much better utilized here -the Disney seasons really killed it with the female Rangers, and Kira is top tier. -I love how the fighting styles of the civilian fights feel like different player types in side scrollers like Final Fight. Connor is the balanced one, Ethan is a strong one, and Kira is the fast flexible one -I will never not smile whenever a stunt person doesn't quite capture Ethan's afro
Another one of my favourite seasons. Cant wait to see your retrospective. Edit after watching: loved the video, especially since you share my love for this season. Dino thunder was smth special, can’t wait to see your SPD vid.
I believe dino thunder was THE TRUE sequel to the legendary MMPR. Trent was basically tommy with a badass suit and my favorite of all time white ranger
30:58 fun fact when in production and they saw this form in abaranger they thought it was a six ranger and was going to make Devin a power ranger. Edit: was someone on the team an ac/dc fan back in black, thunder struck??
Fitting for Dino Thunder.. also since this is in New Zealand I'm guessing there is a notable fan base with how close it is to Australia on top of worldwide fame
After your Ninja Storm video I was eager to hear your reaction on Dino Thunder, I knew it you gonna like it and enjoy it so much. You make great content, keep it up!
19:26 Fun note: The Dimetrozord is the only Zord in Dino Thunder that technically _isn't_ a dinosaur - the Dimetrodon is more closely linked to mammals than reptiles.
I didn't know about Tommy's past until conmemorative episode 500. I can see why many people loved him, but I grew up in the Disney's era, so I prefer this show rather than Mighty Morphin. Though, Saban's era is very good; therefore, even when Dino Thunder is my second favorite season, Time Force is the number one.
I'I'm glad people are finally giving Lost & Found in Translation a fair chance, that episode was loathed by Sentai fans back in the day, which is sad because the point of that episode is that, yes, Super Sentai / Power Rangers is a goofy franchise, but at the same time is actually a good story with great characters. also, i think the Joke that Tommy intentionally Color Codes is a very overshadowed joke
Oh man, can't wait for SPD. Probably my favorite Power Rangers series. From story, to characters, to the suits, to megazords, to theme song, it's an all around 10/10 for me
I think what really works on this season is the slower expansion of the team. Getting the first three at the beginning, abd waiting a bit for Tommy to get his powers. Then the evil white ranger plot taking time to join the team. It let everyone develop without it feeling too rushed
Me : I loved watching you guys on TV, you both were great to see on the show Ethan : Thanks dude that means a lot Trent : Now I gotta know, did you like the evil me or good me? Me : I liked the Evil you as you finally grew a pair! Trent and Ethan are dying of laughter One of my fond memories of them and they both enjoyed hearing the fact that people watch the show for them and not Tommy
This is also the start of a lot of 'The Tribe' kids showing up in various parts. The Tribe was an Australian/New Zealand post-apocalypse kids show, where the adults die off due to some virus, and kids have to fend for themselves, almost to Mad Max style living. I saw it before Dino Thunder, so I'm like 'holy crap that's so-n-so'.
Right here, dino thunder's theme is the only theme i can take seriously because the other's are not making me feel pumped up but here it ROCKS THE PREHISTORIC AGE
39:49 For the shield, it's because the shield broke when it was shipped to America for MMPR. Instead of fixing it, they made a new cloth one. The one in Dino Thunder still seems inaccurate but it's closer to what the costume was supposed to be. If you go back and watch MMPR it makes it really obvious when they use Japanese footage. As for the helmet, no idea. Apparently the belt / morpher was inaccurate too, but it's harder to notice. All the colours seem off as well. My own theory is that the silver on the helmet was added to make it closer to the Dragonzord because the Dragonzord is an homage to the most iconic Tokosatsu thing of all time, Godzilla. Dino Thunder is a legacy season so maybe they just wanted to make the link from Rangers to Kaiju media even clearer. That's definitely a reach, though.
This show is still one of my top favorites for the perfect return for tommy Oliver. Also the episode where the trio watch the history of power rangers still gives me goosebumps!!!!
I've heard so many people say that the kick that Tommy does on the animatronic dinosaur in this show a "roundhouse" kick when no, it's a jumping crescent kick. For as many people as I'm sure were inspired by him to do martial arts (like myself), I'm surprised not many people bring this up.
Please mention Dekaranger as the 28th season of Super Sentai when talking about S.P.D. because you forgot to mention Abaranger as the 27th season of Super Sentai in this video.
Emma Lahana's attitude towards the show as well as the fact she's a Zionists is so upsetting because not only do I love her work on Power Rangers, but her role on Cloak and Dagger was also amazing. Such a shame.
just realised Ethan's bully is the twin brother of the mercury ranger from operation overdrive. Kira's music producer is the twin brother of Boom from spd Connor's crush Krista is the twin sister of Clair from mystic force
It’s nice to see someone doing a recap of every power rangers series ever in real time, now that he’s this far he’ll clearly cover them all hopefully and little does he know that this is great sleep fuel. I’ve fallen asleep to these retrospectives numerous times already. May the power protect you all.

Man, it’s so nostalgic watching a season with Tommy as the mentor! RIP Jason David Frank.

Oh there's a light in the distance alright. That's the light of the otherworld cuz my soul just left my body remembering HOW GOATED THIS OPENING IS
7:50 “the first red ranger to not have any leadership qualities at all” remember rocky?
There is a reason Tommy was made the leader
@@ZayTh3God I beg to differ referring Andros
You realize I'm agreeing with you?
People remember Rocky?
Connor: Let's see where we go next!
*Save at Kohl's ad*: Allow me to introduce myself!
46:27 The best morphing sequence!! The call out and music all flows well together!! This was awesome
The white Dino thunder ranger suit is my favorite in all of Tokusatsu
I wish Trent had as much importance in the show as Abarekiller tbh, but the suit is also one of my favorites
His and Doggie Krugar's are HARD!!
I sooo wanted to cosplay it as a kid
@@GiffsenTrue but he would have died sense Abra killer did
I don't know what Tokusatsu is but I agree
The edgiest PR series by far, and the only one with 5 rangers overall. I guess they thought having Tommy on board was more than enough.
"Obviously everywhere except the net"
I'm still recovering from that one to this day...
They also actually use the school setting and cassidy and devon feel like actual comic relief worth enjoying
Truly the best timing for this video
It's a Christmas Miracle indeed and oh boi this season is so memorable for me as a kid, I remember watching it alot on dvd and tv
I believe Lost & Found In Translation is one of the first times that invested me into Super Sentai the most aside from Super Megaforce and oh dang did i love how slightly botched it is with the self-awareness cause i felt exactly like Conner in that episode rlly at first, Not understanding it then getting invested with it
JDF did cameo for me saying I may be old but I can still pull it off for my b day. Good memories of dino Thunder in the early 2000s.
He will always be the greatest ranger
@@AndreNitroX may his power and spirit always be with us
@@AndreNitroXI don't know about that
I miss him too. He always replied to my instagram comments. I’m 33. When this season came out tbh I was in high school already. But seeing Tommy drew me back in to watching it. I remember eating breakfast getting ready for school. An then here comes “ professor O” . So cool watching him come back
32 here I miss Jason David Frank May The Power Protect Him 💚🤍❤️🖤
Also the 'DragoZord' is a Tupuxara.
The Topgaler was the DragoZord's name.
This video was sick, Linkara also dropped a history of power ranges on Dino thunder recently and this was on par with
1:08 it just hit me that he kicked the ball so hard it made a sonic boom effect and he didn't have powers at this point. Bro wtf kinda juice is he drinking
"HOW MANY PUSHUPS DID HE DO?! HOW MANY SITUPS?! WHAT KIND OF JUICE DID HE DRINK?!"
He learn from Tsubasa Oozora and Stephen Chow.🤣
25:21 Actually, it's technically camouflage, which is like an inferior version of invisibility.
A moment I’ll cherish forever!😁
Also, I think watching that GBA gameplay in your vid unlocked a core memory of me playing the same game as a kid! Holy cow, the nostalgia!😧
Doesn’t Tommy technically still have his Zeo powers😂 out here fighting dinosaurs with a roundhouse when his zeo morpher/zeonizer is at home
He prob retired the morpher idk why but it’s stupid ash to have it around all the time could’ve been useful
@@supercloudreedhe had it in Forever Red
@@pillarsofsnow7940 Which was quite possibly a prototype master morpher. There's no time given for when Billy was able to reforge the powers so it could have been that. Or it could have been Adam giving Billy his restored morpher thanks to the sentinel knight in OVerdrive that helped Billy remake the original powers. A lot of different times that the og powers were restored could have helped him along
I WAS JUST WATCHING YOUR MMPR VIDEO A FEW MINUTES AGO!!!!!!
Also, let me know if you do SPD. It’s my favorite season
So fun fact: Abarekiller (the white ranger in Abaranger) didn’t really join the team until near the end, which was why the evil clone exists
Also, during production: the writers thought AbareMax (the Triassic Ranger in Abaranger) was a separate Ranger, and we’re planning to make him Devin (yes, Cassidy’s cameraman, god I loved that guy) however when they found out that AbareMax was just an upgrade to Abared. This was dropped
I was just watching ninja storm and wishing the next power rangers video to be up, and Conner delivered, dreams do come true. 😁
I'm addicted to these videos, I'm going to go into depression after I get to Jungle Fury, wow, it's a trip of nostalgia and childhood memories
About time you talked about this season. This is my favorite season of Power Rangers. Of course, because of JDF as the mentor, which is a smart writing move.
Fighting Spirit needs to be shown in film classes. The cinematography and color grading is awesome.
I always squeal whenever you release a new video. I have so many notes that I'm just going to list them lol:
-Cassidy is possibly one of the best side comic relief characters, and I appreciate the touch of her always wearing pink as if it was a nod to the unofficial pink abaranger
-The matchup between Ninja Storm and Dino thunder was epic, basically being as good as what you see on the MCU
- Trent's morph call feels like a nod to Tommy's special fight themes after becoming the White Ranger
- despite the stock sound effects being the same as last season It feels much better utilized here
-the Disney seasons really killed it with the female Rangers, and Kira is top tier.
-I love how the fighting styles of the civilian fights feel like different player types in side scrollers like Final Fight. Connor is the balanced one, Ethan is a strong one, and Kira is the fast flexible one
-I will never not smile whenever a stunt person doesn't quite capture Ethan's afro
I still think Conner is related to General McKnight, the guy behind the Cyborg Rangers from Lightspeed Rescue
Dino thunder theme song was a banger
Abaranger has the better theme song than dino thunder
@@jjohnson2445Ehh. Gonna disagree
me sitting here, a Connor. watching a show about Connor and friends, narrated by Conner
"Tommy's been recording the History of Power Rangers!"
So he's been Linkara this whole time!
After your Ninja Storm video I was eager to hear your reaction on Dino Thunder, I knew it you gonna like it and enjoy it so much. You make great content, keep it up!
"don't trust famous people" a moral in 2004, reality in 2024 🤣
Agreed
It's so funny, in German they shout "Dino-Donner Power-Kraft", which literally means "Dino-Thunder Power-Power" 😂😂
I can't wait for mystic force samurai and Dino charge
Me too
I think I dropped off before dino charge, it'll be neat to see shows I haven't watched (I remember megaforce being kinda eh and stopping about there)
Mystic Force is my favorite, almost solely for the effects
Every time you do the lil' smirk or smile during the morph sequence is one of my fav parts of these video - it shows how much fun you're having! 😁
Omg you're back!!!!!! So excited to sit and watch this!!!!!!!
I LOVE how they didn't change Trent's morphin sequence and kept it the same as Mikoto
19:26 Fun note: The Dimetrozord is the only Zord in Dino Thunder that technically _isn't_ a dinosaur - the Dimetrodon is more closely linked to mammals than reptiles.
Wait! A month already passed? Loving the PR videos
Im so Stoked to see your video on SPD !!! I personally think it has one the most kickass opening themes can't wait!!!!
I was waiting for this. This is one of my favourite PR series
13:17 haha very subtle. This was one of my all time favorite seasons of Power Rangers.
Ya know, the fact Lothor just gets jarred by Mesogog really goes to show just how much superior of a villain he is lol
At Big Texas Comic Con 2022, JDF said he had to audition for the part of Tommy. Can anyone imagine if Tommy was played by someone else?
9:32 bros not ready for the SPD theme song
Swear 🤣🤣
this is my first episode of your power ranger series where I know that your conner the waffle, and not corner the waffle.
Me : I loved watching you guys on TV, you both were great to see on the show
Ethan : Thanks dude that means a lot
Trent : Now I gotta know, did you like the evil me or good me?
Me : I liked the Evil you as you finally grew a pair!
Trent and Ethan are dying of laughter
One of my fond memories of them and they both enjoyed hearing the fact that people watch the show for them and not Tommy
Dino Thunder was my CHILDHOOD. I rewatched the DVD set so much as a kid.
I cannot wait til he gets to "I'M SCOTTISH"
Lmao Tommy acknowledged that Rangers always wear their colors
Damn bro speedrunning the franchise.
When you do Jungle Fury pay close attention to Camille and Jarrod
I've heard so many people say that the kick that Tommy does on the animatronic dinosaur in this show a "roundhouse" kick when no, it's a jumping crescent kick. For as many people as I'm sure were inspired by him to do martial arts (like myself), I'm surprised not many people bring this up.
Oh it's that yugioh guy. Hi
34:53 Tommy the wingman.
Fitting considering this man used the falconzord.
Please mention Dekaranger as the 28th season of Super Sentai when talking about S.P.D. because you forgot to mention Abaranger as the 27th season of Super Sentai in this video.
This was my introduction to powerrangers and has always been my favourite season
thunder storm bothers me because DOESN'T CONNOR HAVE A TWIN BROTHER WHO IS A NINJA???/
Yesss i have been waiting for Dino thunder it was my favorite Disney power rangers team and fire video as always
Tommy EP with all Red White and Green was the biggest nostalgia pop
Emma Lahana's attitude towards the show as well as the fact she's a Zionists is so upsetting because not only do I love her work on Power Rangers, but her role on Cloak and Dagger was also amazing. Such a shame.
