- The Digitech Bass Whammy (bit.ly/2e5inkH) is the updated and upgraded version of the classic 90s Bass whammy. The newer Bass Whammy has the artifact tracking mode of the original which can be found in the Classic setting, and an additional Chorus tracking mode that does a better job smoothing out shifts. As far as effects go, the Bass Whammy has 9 different Harmony options, 10 different whammy settings, and 2 detuning options.

I can see this being good for jazz
I am a bass player,i have to tune a lot with my band.Will this pedal will allow me to tune up and down from a half step? Then if i am tuned in standard tuning ,would it be possible to tune a half step down Eb-Ab-Db-Gb and up to F_A#-D#-D# by just adjusting the switch?
olivier sinnaeve It sure will work, but I find that adjusting the pitch with a whammy pedal fundamentally alters your tone and not in a good way. I think of it as a kind of goofy effect with extremely limited uses.
You're better off getting a second bass and keeping it in a different tuning in my opinion.

I'm wondering if a guitar player that doesn't play bass could use that whammy pedal as well.
Sure, they make a whammy for guitar, I think the point of the bass whammy is to track lower notes more efficiently, but the guitar whammy was the one that came first, and would better suit a guitar player
I use bass whammy for guitar it's basically the same just has a few different harmony options. Bass whammy is nice because it doesn't need a weird power supply.

yes, because the bass whammys circuitry is more suited to the lower notes of a bass. if you mainly use the higher notes of a bass (which is unlikely), then the normal whammy v is fine
There is no such thing as better bass tracking... It's a Whammy V with modified settings, especially harmony presets.

@@LochNessAnthony I don't know what exactly is your doubt, but the tracking is the same in Whammy V and Bass Whammy... and that is a lot better than the Whammy 4. I had all 3. You should choose the bass whammy if the different harmony and octave presets make sense for you... Or even if you like blue better than red. But if you're looking for better tracking, they work the same, get the cheaper one
@@thiagoalema Interesting. I’m not aware of this. I assumed the pitch detection time was doubled to detect frequencies that are double wave length thus twice the amount of time. 24 milliseconds vs 12 milliseconds. I thought I heard digitech say the tracking was tailored toward bass notes like the low e.
