Absolutely I have three teenage sons and an 11 yo daughter and my husband of 21 years and they leave their stuff everywhere and then ask me where it is.
Holderness Fam, you might just be my favourite TH-cam Channel. Whenever I'm having a shoddy day, I just put on one of your vids because it alwasy cheers me up. 🤩😀🎸
This may be my favorite yet! Love this!!!! Kim, if you put in a basket at the bottom of the stairs and the new rule is "Every Sunday, anything left in this basket gets thrown out!" it's a game changer! (Fear of Loss is a great motivator) Great video, guys! ❤❤❤
Now THAT is a GREAT idea! 😂 (My mother's rule was, 'If it's not in the way, you can leave it out - but you can't get anything else out until after you're finished with this one! 😅)
We had a similar rule. I didn’t nag anyone about leaving stuff around, but when I cleaned an area, I cleaned it-everything in the bin if it didn’t belong. (To be fair, I have a neurodegenerative disease and just don’t have the energy to clean before I clean) All I had to do was announce “I’m cleaning the _________ in 10 minutes!” to send everyone scrambling for their stuff. The kids didn’t believe me about this at first. Fortunately, it only took one trip out to the bin to retrieve things to convince them.
My grandfather- I was raised by him- if it wasn't put away before bed it got thrown out. May sound harsh, but he was actually the sweetest grandfather ever!!!
This family has way too much fun with their career. And this video reminds me of how I separate the laundry and can't tell the difference between some of my husband's and two teenage sons' clothes so I ask them to take their stuff from the pile..... but they never do! That pile needs a separate laundry basket in my room (soon it will need two), just in case one of them ever realizes something is missing.
I saw a reel on Facebook recently that might help. A mom would mark her kids clothes with a tick mark or line on the tag or waistband and as it was passed down she would add another line or tick mark for the next child. I know for my two sons it has made doing their laundry so much easier since I gave it a try. Don't know if this helps, but thought I would share.
This is a problem I didn't know we'd have until we lived in a 2 story house. I always pile stuff on stairs so that I'd take it upstairs, but a lot of times, I'm just too tired to pick it up as I walk up.
This one just went straight to the top of my Holderness favorites! You scored a perfect bullseye with this one. These lyrics are going to be stuck in my head for all eternity. 😂
3 reasons I want to show this to my wife: 1. Her favorite song ever. 2. She loves Baby Yoda (great cameo!). And 3. Maybe….the kids and I have left a few things around the house….half-way there!
I'm dying, this is totally our family. We've started trying to institute a "take 1-2 things from the stairs when you go up" rule which apparently I'm the only one who follows. Although our pile is more on one side, rather than all over the place. :)
The best ever! You identified my family and helped me laugh off the laziness. My husband and I live on the main floor so I rarely take the stairs. I place clean laundry in baskets blocking the bottom step and they will jump over just like Penn did.
As someone who put the clean and folded laundry on the stairs, assuming I will put it in my room later (I don't, for weeks at a time) I feel this song in my soul
Why CLEAN laundry on the stairs, where people are walking all the time? Put it all on the couch or something, not blocking traffic where someone can trip on it if they aren't careful.
Love this video- so so funny and spot on🤣🤣 Many years ago I bought “stair baskets “ and still use them to this day. One of my kids chores was to “take care of the baskets”- they would have to bring them up and put the things in each of our bedrooms:)
As a longtime bon Jovi fan i love the dedication to the song and this whole video was so true, i leave stuff in bags all the time then ask my wife if she had seen it. Hilarious and amazing work. Always one of my favorites videos to watch and I am even willing to overlook that she was talking during the guitar solo, lol, a sambora solo too.
I am beside myself with laughter, because it is sooo true! Every family has a “spot” that gets out of control. Thank you both for such a funny and rocking parody!
Penn does it again! You have taken another one of my favorite 80’s songs and turned into a hilarious , yet sad but true , parody. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!😂🙌🏽
Love it! I left two huge laundry baskets full of folded clothes on top of each other, blocking the stairs and my kids still climbed over them instead of taking the hint! :D
One great thing about my house is it’s two levels, and the kids sleep in the basement. So I can at least throw all the junk DOWN the stairs! Great video, as always!
I died laughing. 🤣 we don’t have stairs but my family sure is creative about where their piles of stuff goes. And one day… well I just give up and take it to their rooms myself! 😜🤣
Bag it all up and hide it in the garage or attic. When they ask where it is, say that you threw it out since they obviously didn't care about it enough to put it where it belongs. If they get all shocked about it, tell them where it actually is but next time it goes in the trash for real. Hopefully they learn before the behavior gets too bad. If they don't get shocked, trash it for real; they truly didn't need it if they don't care. And if they repeat the behavior, toss it straight in the trash after one warning of what you're going to do if it doesn't get stored right away.
My grandmother had a one week rule. If it was still there Saturday (cleaning day) it was determined you didn't need/want it anymore so it was thrown away. Trust me - it only happened once 😂.
Epic!!! You always nail what all the rest of us are going through (or have gone through if we're a little older than you, like I am) Love the haircut, Penn!
This is literally what happened when I was a kid. Our bedroom was in the attic (without central air) so my mom didn't want to haul it up there. We did the same land-mine avoidance moves up and down the stairs!
My 27 yearold son and 32 year old daughter still have me piling stuff on the stairs and worse - folded washing sitting on the dining table waiting for someone to take it to their room...for days! Life as a widower with kids looking after him

Best parody so far! Our mom used to put our neatly folded laundry on the stairs for us to carry up. We were kind of ok about taking it up. But if we waited too long and she reached the breaking point, she would go upstairs to our rooms, empty the drawers, and throw everything down the stairs. Then we would have to pick it all up and take and put it away properly. As an adult, that seems like a reasonable lesson!
An ADHD point of clarification - I don’t assume that someone will take it to where it needs to go, I simply forget that it exists. And it’s not that I don’t care about the pile on the stairs, I either completely don’t see it, or I only see it when I absolutely have to be out the door immediately, or I see it and hyperfocus on clearing it all up and therefore miss my next meeting 🤦♀️

Dear Kim, Hahahaha This is so freaking perfect!!! The accuracy is off the charts. Sincerely, Jessie (who lives with her son and her husband). P. S. I would like to throw in the time that I almost face planted coming down the stairs because of said things on the stairs 😂

Good motivation to be tidy but otherwise I can’t think of an upside. I’ve become disabled and need to keep the floors clear too, but I still manage to leave piles of untidy everywhere 😅 Glad you’re maintaining your spirits.

Omg, I so relate with this!!!! And of course after it all, I end up bringing it up anyway 🤣
You guys don't disappoint! Love from Australia.
Hope all is well down under!
@@theholdernessfamily Thanks! Yeah, no major bush fires, floods, droughts, or earthquakes this week. Just gangsters shooting each other & stupid politicians. I guess you guys know what that's like.
My wife despises how much joy I find persuing TH-cam on a daily basis, but even she laughed hysterically at this video! Bravo you guys. Just cleaned up our stair pile today in preparation for our 4th of July party, but I'm sure I'll have to do it at least 3 more times before then😂
Dear Kim, Hahahaha This is so freaking perfect!!! The accuracy is off the charts. Sincerely, Jessie (who lives with her son and her husband). P. S. I would like to throw in the time that I almost face planted coming down the stairs because of said things on the stairs 😂
My mom left stuff on the stairs too, and she had to remind us very loudly to take it up. Sigh! Those were the days.
This was my house growing up! Luckily I live alone now so I'm responsible for my own stuff! I do live in an apt now so the mess is eliminated! Thank you Penn and Kim for the memories! Kim's facial expressions are hilarious! P. S. I'm wheelchair bound with Cerebral palsy so I really can't have stuff around
Good motivation to be tidy but otherwise I can’t think of an upside. I’ve become disabled and need to keep the floors clear too, but I still manage to leave piles of untidy everywhere 😅 Glad you’re maintaining your spirits.
@@mariag.8242 Well thank you so much. It helps when you have someone to help you as I do although I have been on my own since the age of 20. Honestly for me that's the only way to be! I wish you the best!
I love how he's rocking out while she batching lol I love it.
I LOVE this video! I laughed so hard, that I cried! We had the exact same problem. Until my Mom had back surgery and EVERYTHING went upstairs IMMEDIATELY! Now my husband and I are looking for a single floor home to purchase. Hmmm, I wonder why?! (Wink) LOL!!!
This is spot on! I’m OCD and give each person their own stair … so you don’t even have to sort through the crap!! Then I yell ‘stair pile bruh’ anytime someone walks up it 😂. It still grows and grows. Why ?!?!
I’m glad I’m not alone doing this. My teenage daughter just walks right by it until she needs it, then takes her clothes up.
Bon Jovi......🥰
You nailed it!
That was hysterical. And true. Loved the last two lines! 😂
You guys are very talented. These parody songs always crack me up!
Thank you for allowing me to rest assured....it's not just me!!! I feel like some days you are living in my house and putting my life to lyrics!! Thank you for bringing me joy!!!
This is so relevant to the work that I do as a decluttering specialist...clearing up staircases...Love this one! Keep them coming!
