▸ Who Is Batman: Batman is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and debuted in the 27th issue of the comic book Detective Comics on March 30, 1939. In the DC Universe continuity, Batman is the alias of Bruce Wayne, a wealthy American playboy, philanthropist, and industrialist who resides in Gotham City. Batman's origin story features him swearing vengeance against criminals after witnessing the murder of his parents Thomas and Martha as a child, a vendetta tempered with the ideal of justice. He trains himself physically and intellectually, crafts a bat-inspired persona, and monitors the Gotham streets at night. Kane, Finger, and other creators accompanied Batman with supporting characters, including his sidekicks Robin and Batgirl; allies Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Catwoman; and foes such as the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face, and his archenemy, the Joker.
Kane conceived Batman in early 1939 to capitalize on the popularity of DC's Superman; although Kane frequently claimed sole creation credit, Finger substantially developed the concept from a generic superhero into something more bat-like. The character received his own spin-off publication, Batman, in 1940. Batman was originally introduced as a ruthless vigilante who frequently killed or maimed criminals, but evolved into a character with a stringent moral code and strong sense of justice. Unlike most superheroes, Batman does not possess any superpowers, instead relying on his intellect, fighting skills, and wealth. The 1960s Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which continued to be associated with the character for years after the show ended. Various creators worked to return the character to his darker roots in the 1970s and 1980s, culminating with the 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.
DC has featured Batman in many comic books, including comics published under its imprints such as Vertigo and Black Label. The longest-running Batman comic, Detective Comics, is the longest-running comic book in the United States. Batman is frequently depicted alongside other DC superheroes, such as Superman and Wonder Woman, as a member of organizations such as the Justice League and the Outsiders. In addition to Bruce Wayne, other characters have taken on the Batman persona on different occasions, such as Jean-Paul Valley / Azrael in the 1993-1994 "Knightfall" story arc; Dick Grayson, the first Robin, from 2009 to 2011; and Jace Fox, son of Wayne's ally Lucius, as of 2021. DC has also published comics featuring alternate versions of Batman, including the incarnation seen in The Dark Knight Returns and its successors, the incarnation from the Flashpoint (2011) event, and numerous interpretations from Elseworlds stories.

Andrew Paul I think Barbados is like a Dark Multiverse version of Marvel's Eternity in the sense, he's the Embodiment of the Dark Multiverse/it's will manifest, or he could be a Dark version of the Specter for all we know his design in this looks like the Specter.

Alstead It's not everything, but when writing characters with real emotions, psychology and sociology are great fields to study in to get great stories with great drama's.

Future Tim Drake points out Batman's big fear (that Bruce confessed on his deathbed in the future) which was that he left all his batfamily worse off than when he found each of them. That he's poisoned them with this cursed Batman legacy.

Rob, that Thomas Wayne was the man who would become Dr. Simon Hurt. Not Bruce's dad, but a family ancestor.
He's the black sheep of the Wayne line, from like the 19th or 18th century. He is the one who feasts upon the Hyper Adapter and gets prolonged life.
This is letting Bruce jump Quantum Leap style into the Peter Milligan written creation of the name Barbatos and Thomas Wayne, "Dark Knight Dark City"

There was an old twilight zone where I wanna say Charles Bronson tries to get his crashed spaceship crew off a planet and they all die one by one but you later learn its a groundhogs day kinda perpetual loop and while he remembers each time, his crew still makes the same bad decisions. Its been a while and I may be confusing it with other episodes.
Also the X-Files where fox and dana are getting slowly digested by toxic fungus causing hallucinations which makes them believe they already solved the case.
standard level excellence, (Commander? General? Supreme Ruler? Chancellor? What is the highest offical title of RobCorp, anyway?) I expect this will be all just another analogy of balance, as batman always has been. Set and Horus. Light and Dark. I'd like to think that the source of Bruce's Light has always been Alfred. It seems that's the difference between the dark worlds and this one. Alfred isn't there to help when its needed most. Maybe that's the lesson. Pennyworth is the Hero, not Batman.

Thomas Garrison From what I can tell, the idea of Barbatos is just expanding on the Hyper-Adapter sent after Batman in “The Return of Bruce Wayne.” After Bruce was shot, it was implied that Darkseid sent this Hyper-Adapter to haunt Bruce through time and turn him into a bomb, once Bruce returned to the present.
It was sent back in time by the Justice League once they recovered Bruce, it fought Dick briefly during “Batman vs. Robin”, before ending up before Thomas Wayne in the 1700s. During a sacrificial ritual, Thomas (or Dr. Hurt) encounters “Barbatos” and eats its heart, giving him immortality.
Afterward, Hurt starts the Black Glove, fucks with Batman for a bit, culminating in “Batman R.I.P.”, “Final Crisis”, and Dick’s stint as Batman with Damian. All these stories were written by Morrison.
Tl;dr - Grant Morrison envisioned “Barbatos”, the Hyper-Adapter, as a backup plan if the Omega Sanction didn’t kill Batman.
It was a tool, a weapon by Darkseid made to stick it to Batman for killing him.
It was never written as a godlike entity on the level of Darkseid, it was a part of Darkseid.
Tl;dr Part 2 - Synder is a hack fraud.
I believe the Hyper-Adaptor may have basically hyper-adapted into its present form, in the previous version as merely an automaton creation of Darkseid sent after Batman it failed its task and was destroyed by the Justice League, but it did have all of history to choose from so it manipulated it, spinning off into alternate hypertime timelines it created only to get a dark Batman henchman out of it then ended the timeline after recruiting said henchman, building up it's own story in the process. It's still largely a tool of Darkseid, it's just one that has grown beyond recognition after having been left in hypertime for who knows how long to play around and improve itself.
I commute for 3 hours every day and I always have a playlist of yours on in my car . Sometimes I get excited while listening and people look at me weirdly while I'm driving but man my drive is more than bearable now . Your videos are great !
That episode of Outer limits was my favorite out of all the seasons. My mind was blown when I found out everything was dream.

I dont care how powerful Barbatos is I bet you Batman finds away to beat him in the end and when Barbatos says NOOOO HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE !!! Bruce will shout BECAUSE IM BATMAN !!! and then he will jump up in to the air with his cape flying up behind him like wings lighting will strike behind him and then he will come dawn with a superman punch to Barbatos face lol
That's what the comic is saying. The only reason why batman has been is winning is BECAUSE of barbatos. Barbatos has been allowing him to win, but now that he has been brought to earth 0 he doesn't have to allow him to win anymore.
Now its just a case of sheer force of willpower to escape because I don't see anything else getting Bruce out of this.

To see Batman scared, nay, terrified... that is absolutely horrifying. What I would give to have Kevin Conroy voice those lines.
For years, we thought Good and Evil we're two sides of the same coin. That Evil must fight Good, and vice versa. The natural order of things: Good triumphs over Evil. Good reigns supreme. But the seed of Evil is placed in Good. It grows. Consuming Good. And Evil snuffs out Good. Darkness engulfs the land. Then Good stems from darkness. And Good rises up against Evil. And Good triumphs over Evil. The cycle continues going around and around and around... But what if I told you, that "natural law," was not natural at all. That Good and Evil, are concepts created by creatures whose minds are too feeble to grasp other possibilities to try and define reasonings for actions and events? The truth is, there is no such thing as Good and Evil. There is only one thing, and then another. A world where you became a super hero and saved the world, and another where you became a serial killer and killed your loves ones and many others. The mortal mind would see one as Good and the other as Evil. But of the other ones? Another universe where you lived a normal, simple life. They would see that as the Balance. The one thing protecting us from the warring of Good and Evil. It "takes the bullets for us" one could say. But it doesn't end there. What about the world where you never existed? Or you died as a child? Or died seconds ago or in the next 5 minutes? What of those realities? People would say they're irrelevant, that they could not be Good, Evil, or a Balance. But, in reality, they're wrong. Based on your perspective, they could all be Good or Evil. They could all be a Balance or nothing at all. That's the problem with Good and Evil, you can bend the rules to whatever you want. The natural law is in fact something very simple. Those alternate paths are not good, bad, or in between. They certainly aren't nothing. So what are they? They just are. They exist, and that's all that matters.
The purple gloves were a nice touch.
I believe that the ending of this event will connect to the ending of the button event. With batman, after facing all the worst things he could've become and grasping how easy it is for him to become something he hates because of the batman persona, simply putting down the cowl and listening to his father's advice on him not wanting Bruce to be batman but to be happy. Which maybe connects with the catwoman arc. And at the very end near the beginning or maybe at the middle of the watchman arc batman once again puts on his cowl to help against oz's plans making the greatest sacrifice, once again becoming batman.

I've been a long time fan of Marvel's Heroes over DC's but Rob's been slowly converting me to enjoy DC's story writing more (still love my Spider-Man though)
Barbatos is Batman as the Spector, it's really obvious once we got a good look at the costume, it also explains the scope of power he has.

When Barbatos said he was the bat, that flew to Bruce's window and inspired the whole batman mythos that just shows the level Barbatos. His literally the perfect comic version of a demon, making subtle changes in order to create a perfect scenario and vessel for his coming. This might be the best batman run, it has everything. By taking the (lets just say) the most important DC character ever and showing that this is why he is Batman he was the chosen one basically a dark messiah it makes DC seem very aware of itself and I totally get that. Is Batman the greatest of humanity's heroes,, could he have been the one that has inspired all the DC heroes to become humanity's heroes, some may argue Superman....but Batman he actually funded and founded the justice league so......it really is up to debate. The only entity that could save him is Sandman as an endless his the only one that knows whats going on, and has a level of power to perhaps rivals Barbatos. Soz for the paragraph

I believe he puts the "?" because, as he puts out the videos, these are just his perspectives/theories on the story. They aren't definitive but they are on point 99% of the time.

One thing that I found helps with the story of Batman: Lost, is thinking about it in terms of two actual plots. Grandad Bruce reading the book to his granddaughter, and the other being the history of the Waynes. At one moment they sort-of overlap.

This reminds me of the most recent issue of Lost Light.
Regardless if the answer is true or not.. Bruce Wayne/Batman has the intellect and strong sense of logic to counter that "answer" with his own answer.. If there's thousands upon thousands of dark multiverses where everything that could go bad has gone bad, there's thousands upon thousands of "light" multiverses where everything that could go good has gone good. So he'd quickly determine that it doesn't matter how many dark multiverses there are or how many evil versions of himself there are, because there's probably an equal amount of good versions of him out there as well.

I like the story Snyder is trying to tell, but my only complaint is we aren't really progressing anywhere. Like its just been 9-ish issues of Earth-0 getting trashed by batmen, and the only thing we know is they can be hurt by Nth metal... Hopefully the pace picks up a little bit

I'm not sure if the batman who laughs stories are canon or not, but I think it would've been super interesting if batman had to be the one to kill his parents in the past to insure that he'd become batman. Like his actions when he got thrown through time to when his parents were around somehow stopped joe chill from killing them, he ultimately realizes this, has to do it himself. It would be so interesting to see his thoughts and what he would do.
Or..since we're finding out that his dad wasn't actually this great guy, was with the bat tribe, find out that his dad was actually trying to subtlety kill joe chill as a sacrifice to Barbados, joe chill freaks and kills batman's parents, batman just thinks it was a robbery because he was a kid

You should really do a full series about Final Crisis and The Return of Bruce Wayne. It's pretty much the backstory of Barbatos.
Dude, the ritual scene is a straight rip from Dark City, Dark Knight. Thing is in that story they succeeded partially. Barbatos (known as Barbathos, like the spelling from Batman lost) was only brought over in spirit and he never got to materialize. He was stuck in Stockman's cellar and over the centuries he sufused the land and all that buildings shaping them.
It was even said that he helped Batman along the way by making a beam sturder then it should have and others.
