      If I'm understanding you correctly, you had a stroke 2 weeks ago? If this is the case, and you don't see any movement, this is quite normal. Usually the only people that see movement two weeks post-stroke are those with spontaneous recovery. I hope you notice this comment.

    • @SaeboInc
      @SaeboInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Elrich, it depends on what's causing the tremor. A lot of times when the brain is confused on how to coordinate a movement, you will see a tremor. Like if you hold something heavy in the air with your less effected arm, eventually the arm will start to shake and then jerk trying to coordinate the fatigued muscles. I would definitely seek a health professional to help you develop a plan to recover from these tremors and improve your gross and fine motor coordination. Best of luck! - Dr Scott

    • @SaeboInc
      @SaeboInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry to hear about your mother. It sounds like your mother may have an over-active sensory system which is why it's causing her pain. You need to reduce that sensitivity, usually through touch or electrical stimulation. This may help. I would suggest seeking professional medical advice for guidance. If she's walking, she can make progress with that, and don't worry about her hand not moving, it takes much longer for the hand to recover than the legs. Keep working on the hand and trying to move it. You have to do lots and lots of repetitions to get control of it. Good luck! - Dr Scott

    So how exactly are we supposed to turn our affected hand to a thumbs up position to do the wrist elevation and declination exercises if our forearm will not rotate axially? What exercise addresses this condition of forearm axial rotation inability? My left thumb can only be pointed up with the palm of my semi opened hand facing my navel while my affected forearm is resting on my lap although the normal resting hand position with my forearm on my lap is in a palm down state. If I place my affected elbow on a table, I still cannot use my good hand to force my left hand down to have it touch the table UNLESS my left hand palm is facing down towards the table and my upper left arm is extended at about a 45 degree angle with respect to my torso (straight in front of me if I'm looking straight ahead being zero degrees and straight to my left being 90 degrees) in which case it can be forced to touch the table fairly easily as long as my left elbow is not forced to open more than 135 degrees, and then I can force the left hand and fingers fully open and make them lay flat with only moderate but steady pressure. Once opened flat, I cannot then turn the thumb upward without significant pressure from my good hand, but doing so causes my elbow to bend closed towards 90 degrees and the hand to lift from the table due to the painful forced axial rotation. I can close the fingers of my left hand towards making a fist with no assistance from my right hand only with severe concentration, but I cannot make a tight fist at all. I cannot open the fingers of my left hand at all after closing them towards making a fist, but if I ever have a true yawn they always open to full extension without any effort or assistance from my good hand at all. Fake yawns don't work. I'm single and live alone. I need a recovery regime I can do totally unassisted except for my right side assisting my left side. My left ankle is also severely affected. I can move it a full range of motion while lying on my back of maybe 15-30 degrees total in pointing my foot towards my head about 10 degrees "up" and pointing my foot "down" (the old calf raises exercise if I was actually standing up) of only about 20 degrees. There is little of no left right axial rotation capability there either although the foot can seemingly "fall" to the left or right with rotation of my leg controlled from the hip. I have no strength in my left ankle and it acts only as a ball joint while walking which means all of my balancing is done with the right side and walking proves tiresome over any great distance because it is step with the left, push off with the right, catch and balance with the right, repeat. The toes of my left foot also can be bent up and down (wiggled) but only slowly and not full range and only with the most severe of concentration. While this is also a problem, it is nowhere near as debilitating and nowhere near as handicapping as the current condition of my left arm and hand. I will be 59 years old in within a week of this posting. My massive stroke was on August 20, 2015

    • @SaeboInc
      @SaeboInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are not alone with having the inability to move and rotate parts of your arm. What you need to do is focus on the spasticity that is probably the largest influencer on the motion. We have a spasticity kit to get your hand/arm started, we also have the SaeboFlex/Reach, a full line of electrical stimulation devices, and our Saebo Mirror Box and FREE SaeboMind recordings to help you on your way. If you'd like to speak to a representative who can help you choose the right products for you, please call our toll free number at 888-284-5433. You can do this!

    Please I have my fingers crossed making a fist ,how can I open them

    • @SaeboInc
      @SaeboInc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello. To speak in general terms, you will need to figure out how to open your hand, assess if the tissues are shortened and address this, and get into a good splinting regime that holds your fingers and hand in the correct position for 6+ hours per day. You need to "retrain" your hand and fingers that a new position is correct and not the current position. I recommend you work with a trained therapist in your area and also look into using our SaeboStretch and SaeboStim One devices. You can also reference this stretching video to help you begin to stretch your hand, wrist and forearm. th-cam.com/video/dBWRuy_hdoc/w-d-xo.html - Dr. Scott, OTD

    What if your hand does not open and it’s very hard to see any movement in the wrist

    • @SaeboInc
      @SaeboInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If your hand doesn't open, then you need to work on stretching your hand and managing your spasticity to allow it to stay more relaxed than tight. However, if you can see movement, that means that you can improve! The connection from your brain to your arm is intact, which means, with hard work, you should see gains. Make sure never to do activities that severely increase your tone, but I'd suggest a stretching, splinting, and exercise regime. Also, if you haven't seen it, our SaeboStim Micro would probably work wonders for you. It's sensory electrical stimulation that helps prime your brain for movement AND helps increase the excitement of your neurons allowing reduction in spasticity and improvement in motor function. You might also see great reduction in spasticity if you used our SaeboMAS or SaeboMAS mini. These devices help unweight your arm, which reduces your spasticity, and allows you to increase your ability to reach and interact with your surroundings, thus increasing exercise and movement.

    • @Rdzy394
      @Rdzy394 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Saebo, Inc. thank you so much! I feel like the muscles that you use to open the hand still are intact as when I attempt to open my hand, there is movement in my fingers and it feels as if they want to open out, but there is too much tone in my hand which is preventing it from opening! Would constant stretching lead to reduction in the tone and easing my ability of using those muscles?

    • @SaeboInc
      @SaeboInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You definitely need to stretch, but that's only part of the recovery process. It's stretching, relearning movement, exercising, and using that affected limb. It's a combination of different approaches, support, and motivation. Our products all cover different aspects of the recovery process which is why we offer an array of tools to help you on your road to recovery.
