You looked like you were really enjoying being a wood worker. The good news is that by selecting the stain in the darkest possible color, exposure to the sun will cause the maximum damage to the wood so that you can enjoy installing a brand new bed in a couple of years or perhaps even before then.
I got lucky one year, I was at the Carlisle all truck show and flea market and found a oak wood bed kit the last day of the show and aquired it for only 200$. One heck of a deal. Yours looks great.
If you know anyone that does wood working it pretty easy to make a pickup bed replacement set. About four hours including fitting is all it takes and the material cost using yellow pine is less than $200.00 including stain and sealer. If you need new metal hold down strips you can get plain steel ones or pop for the extra cost stainless or chrome ones along with the required carriage bolts to hold it all together. I did my 79 Ford 4X4 step side short bed in a weekend when I pulled the bed to replace the fuel tank.
You should have just told me another cut this damn great big old tree down that we have out here we could have cut it up and put it in shop truck shop truck this keeps getting more and more badass later dude have a good night
Just watched this video and knew you would do a burnout after you took the body off before you did. Nice job!! I'm just finishing my bed for my 46 jailbar pickup. I wanted something different. I have live edge red cedar set on plywood and floating in West System epoxy.
I always worry about not putting finish on both sides of any board. If one sees more moisture than the other, it wants to cup and curl. Love the channel, dude.
I've always said I'd go dark instead of light stain on a wood bed... it just looks.. like the height of sophistication.. even in a patina 67' / 68' even if you do have a small back window hehe
As I recall, didn't you replace the wheel wells on this truck with some aftermarket ones that were wider? I expected to see you break out the saw and start cutting on the wood, an avid follower.
Great job! The stinkin' price though. No old world craftsmanship there. My guess is the raw lumber is all CNC cut and milled. Question. Are the stainless runners for looks? Every one of these style beds has them. Yet to me they don't seem to offer any real protection. Thanks for all the insight.
I like the shop truck and ChevHell more than most of the other project vehicles you have shown on this channel. Have you done custom work on motorcycles?
I love this build along with the Chevhell! Between the two vehicles, I'm not sure I'd need anything else. My question is with the gas tank filler. Did you plan ahead enough that the filler fit what appears to be perfectly centered on the board, or is that the real reason you're called "Lucky"? Thanks for sharing your builds!
Got wood? Glad to see your hangin' with people your own age LUCKY!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Some trouble getting the truck out of the lift bay I see. Glad you were able to make it out. 😂
Some days he gets the pedals confused, so he steps on both of them... XD

Great tip!
Put the thin mints in the freezer. Game changer.
Thin mints in the fridge are the only way to go.

Paint it black, hit the track! Your words.
Very True!
Dont know if this has been commented on but some heat pad on the bottom of the bed where the mufflers are, just a thought. Great work!
Lucky has Tony ever driven your shop truck? That’s the ultimate test of any vehicle. 😈
Nope and that’s on purpose
Great question!!!
Sweet
Lucky man, lucky man!
Try to affix the wood plug you drilled out to gas cap It would be almost invisible when done.
Looks great luck. My C10 has a metal bed, kinda wished it was wood. Wood looks cooler, IMHO.
Make it happen.
sweet.
... I went witha flat deck and pine lumber 2xsomethings! and sealed with greasy car parts oil! woo, cheap I kno...
I like to watch Lucky work , now if I could just get payed to do it ! is there a union I could join ?
You got hit with the lazy tax on that truck bed
You have strange weather there. I can't believe how fast fog rolled in when you moved the truck away from the bed
Wish my junk was as nice as your junk!
Thanks. Just build it the way you like it.
As I recall, didn't you replace the wheel wells on this truck with some aftermarket ones that were wider? I expected to see you break out the saw and start cutting on the wood, an avid follower.
I did try them on but never installed them. Wasn’t needed
Lucky you might have a proportioning valve problem with the shop truck. Seemed like no flow to the rear brakes
LOL. :)
👍🏽

Great job on the bed question total cost on the bed material
You got enough supervisors?😃
Government workers
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They're like me: I love work; I could watch it for hours.
How did you know where to drill for counter sunk holes?

Bet that black stain will hide all the extraneous oil left by the cargo you will carry. Genius!
Is that David’s Wrangler in the background? Is Lucky getting into the 4x4 hobby?
Is the gas cap hard to get off in that hole?
Thin mints are the best.
I'm a sucker for shed burnouts! is that Freiburgers Jeep in the background as well?
Burnouts!
you do know the Thin Mints don't work hehehehe
The current shape of the Disgustang is why I call homeless Dave "David Frymotor" ;-)
Fly me there ill do the work for free just to hang out for a week with ya lol
Heh heh..heh heh heh...wood...boing
What wheels do you have on the Chevelle wagon?
Late model Camaro take offs.
18x10
$850?
What materials did you use to finish the wood? dw
worst cookies in the world, always stale and hard as hockey pucks.
Shop floor seems to be a bit slippery. Be careful.
Yeah, not sure what happened there.
Looks great
Thanks!
