For Crownless, that’s DEFINITELY a callback to PGR’s parry mechanics every time there’s that flash of red light to tell you “YOU NEED TO PARRY THIS OR GET COMBO’eD” 😭😂😂
A lot of attacks、 if I recall、 are parryable with precise timing。 The onion rings have always seems more like an interrupt when factoring them in ( ´• ω •`)
Those specific attacks from Crownless are only able to be countered with certain echoes. The ones that mention they can counter "Special Attacks" in their descriptions. It works for most bosses (a few I haven't tried yet though), and those Special Attacks are ones that have large windups and don't have the parry circle.
1:36 isn't a hidden mechanic, but is a great reminder. This OFTEN forgotten since there are very few enemies that have a special move that can be countered with an Echo. You learn this during in the early chapters when you play as Jiyan for the first time in the main story and an Impermanence Heron appears.
1:36 It's not a hidden mechanic, it's a forgotten mechanic. Some Echo have a special parry for special moveset as an ability description mentioned in the Echo ability. The red flash prompt IS that special moveset. The thing is, there are only few enemies that have special moveset that people barely noticed it due to the player defeat it too fast or too focus on dodge/parry and ended up to overlooked it.
If you try to jump attack using Baizhi, you get some kind of diagonal attack. If you switch to Baizhi in midair, in the middle of a battle, she'll do a real plunge attack, and lands like Jinhsi's plunge attack. Just an FYI
Imo lots of 3 cost echos have better skill than the 4 cost, even the 1 cost one has afaik an ability that make you immune to all damage for a short period of time
There are specific echoes that mention in their text that they can interrupt special attacks on a successful parry. Wind Heron is one of them, and its auto-targeting makes it quite reliable, too.
For Glacio/Electro-sets users, the 3-cost giant sword echo on Mt.Firmament works. It's not a direct attack type, but a parry stance -> counter one, and you can swap-cancel off of it if it takes too long to attack.
I knew about the slide and hidden parry with Crownless I also have a short with parry every attack from Falacy thanks to the event I didn't know about Bellborne counter and the roll haha Good ones
The finisher on scar's I think I've seen it during early story when we fought crownless as well, It was a bit hazy but it was what attracted me to play wuthering waves since it reminded me of nioh finisher for yokai
The "hidden finisher" it isn't very hidden but nice video for appreciation because yeah, sad that only that boss has that special action for damage 👍🏻 the first counter and the rolling were a surprice, i like fighting in that way 😎
regarding the crownless interrupt, i remember reading one in game. not sure if it is from a hint, or an echo skill. says, that when it glows red. prob similar to how pgr had a blue glow for counter, and red for parry (for uns)
I appreciate the sliding because the character don't drop like a stone and a first story fall doesn't suddenly kill an immortal being that can cut an island in half! If you know, you know. 🙃
I had completely forgotten about finishers. I hope they added to more bosses or as a universal mechanic with any character to any boss bellow certain percentage...

iI want to add 1 thing. if you are climbing, go down a bit (press s) then jump. your character will do a backflip perfectly. try doing it with yinlin or shorekeeper, and see the results
Little fun fact as well, when falling from a great height on solid ground, if you have no stamina, you can switch character before touching the ground to cancel any fall damage. This is the equivalent of a ground pound in Mario 64. Not stellar but useful to know.
I actually found out about scar finisher yesterday. Because I was tired of using havoc rover, so I switched to spectro rover and fought him. I was like "was this always here before?"
It is enough to press Spase in time to perform a roll after a jump attack. You can also do a short dash using Spase while running along a wall in any direction. I'm not sure, but it seems that Boss Jue can be instantly immobilized if he is shot down in the air in some special way. This happens from time to time.
