Just picked up one of these a few days ago to replace my old X Hot driver. Picked up 25 yards on average and dispersion is WAY better with this thing. Best purchase for my game in a long time! I did get fitted for it so that I could find the right combo for my swing.
Got my set of Max's 1.5 weeks ago. Have the driver,3 wood AND 3, 4 HIBIRDS. ALL ARE INCREDIBLE!! Can't wait for the irons to come in... got fitted and anxiously awaiting that day!!! So far, what I have, has been very noticeable- for the better.
Mark , when coach goes for his fitting , can we have a video log of the process and ultimately the club , shaft and driver settings that he ends up with .. 😉🏌️⛳️🍻

I’m definitely trying this in my Custom Fit later this spring time ! Or the MAVRIK standard both up against Ping G410+, TM SIM MAX and maybe Mizuno ST200 standard. TOdays Golfer on TH-cam just completed a comprehensive driver test for 2020 and the MAVRIK came in top 4 , especially in the “DROP off TEST” element of the over all which it came in first place. The Mavrik had the top 5 in ball speed drop off, #1 in Side + back spin drop off and #1 in drop off in carry distance ! Amazing stats, goes to show how consistent the ball speeds, backspin and Carry distance are!!
I like the idea of the Max, either 10.5 or 9, but open faced to play lower lofted at 9.5 or 8 (to get the correct spin and to get the start line Right of target with the open face (I do this on my current Callaway XR16 and it works fantastically), and then leave the heavy weight at the rear for MOI purposes but use the Neck D setting to make the club Upright to play a Draw (if preferred)
When you are investigating the effects of a variable why would you implement two variables? Move the weights, check the results. Change to the D draw bias, check what happens. Then move both. Move both at one time right off the bat and you don’t have a clue of what did what. Did the weight change move the dispersion left? Did the hosel adjustments? Which lowered the ball flight? You don’t know. We don’t know.
I hit one the other day and had such mixed feeling. Didn't like the look at all, looks like something from a package set. I really didn't like the sound, it sounded like the heads pretty much all carbon. However, when I hit it and looked up I really couldn't fault the performance. Found it really forgiving and certainly was happy with the results.
Callaway are clearly missing a trick here. A strategically placed Stormtrooper on the crown of the club would not only massively increase the aerodynamics of the club but would also act as a high velocity generating stabilising fin allowing coach a sporting chance of actually keeping at least one ball dry. Super computer, pah.
My last callaway driver the face cracked on me. Then I had a callaway x hot hybrid that the face caved in after one year of use. Then went to the xr to replace the x hot, no joke three shots in and the face caved in on that too. Then all the problems with the chrome soft my golf spy found with their find it cut it thing, I just don’t have much confidence in callaway creating a quality product that can last at least a couple years.
I like the look and light shaft. I would have to choose the most adjustable club - so I guess that is the Max version. I love the look for the standard version, but I need to adjust the head weights on a regular basis to make the driver work for me on a given day - I am not VERY consistent and struggle with the driver off the tee on most days and might use it 2-5 times per round and only have 1 successful drive.

I really wish all manufacturers would do the same adjustable neck style where it's sleeves that rotate around to keep the center of the shaft always the same. Also.... I REALLY want 5 minutes with coach as I firmly believe I could fix his case of the righties :)
I’m really liking those drivers. I won’t buy it because it’s brand new and 💰 still isn’t growing on trees, but the clubs look and sound great and I’ll try them just for fun!
Would love to see a bit of a Lockey lesson in trying to straighten his driver face. I have the same problem with the massive rights and I struggle trying to correct it. Often end up with straight lefts and want to snap my driver, give up Golf and move to another planet...
How about a numbers match up with the SIM MAX? Yes we all know, but torkey golf pro shop or someone you know could lend you one, right? you do honest reviews and I do take your thoughts into concideration as i can not try every club i'd like too.
What’s Callaway gonna do next year? The “Goose”, the “Iceman”, or something else? Interesting considering how Top Gun is coming this year...and Callaway is just a stone’s throw away.
Iv hit this and couldn't compete with the TM Sim Max...but that's just me...iv tried to get on with the Epic, Epic Flash and now the Mavrik Max but for me personally I got on better with the M4, M6 and Sim...but that's just me...good driver though...
A question for anyone who cares to give their opinion, would a driver ever get to the stage where over a number of years of bashing balls on the course and at the range it’s performance would decline to the point that it would make sense to replace it, not necessarily for the latest model? E.g. played 2/3 times a week all year round and 1/2 times a week at the range at what age would a club just not continue to perform as originally designed.
Love the videos. However I have no desire to try the mavrik. Golf equipment is at a point where anything the last couple of years will go toe to toe with anything new if properly fit. I'm an advocate of finding a driver that looks good to you, getting fit for it, and sticking with it. This driver doesn't fit my eye
When you say that Matt should play the Max because of the high MOI I get your point but given that he spins a sub zero at the moment at a little over 3,000 wouldn’t this just exacerbate the problem?

And if they use titanium for the face to save weight I am presuming it's lighter than carbon fiber ....if that is the case why not build a solid titanium driver .....if it's only about saving weight for more speed .....
I hear this "re-distributing weight" idea as part of the sale language with a lot of drivers. Is there a weight maximum and minimum set by USGA for conformance on drivers? Like whats the strategy on distributing elsewhere on the head instead of just making the whole thing lighter?

It is not adjustable as the epic flash since it lacks the movable weight. Same economic reason why Taylormade made the M6 less expensive than the M5 for example.

I think most people now realise that over the last few years driver distances aren’t increasing due to club tech and lessons to improve club path/face control will do much more for club players.
Hello Mark! I have a question which popped up when I watched the video. I don't get the initial numbers of ball speed & carry to match up in my head. In the first set of shots you have a ball speed of 147-150 mph somewhere, but a carry of ~263. Would not an optimized drive with that ball speed be closes to a 245-250 carry as best? I am using Trackmans "Carry Optimizers" number for reference here (with the best case of AoA etc). Also curious since my own numbers are around those ball speeds, and I am getting very close to trackmans predicted values then. What am I missing here? Thanks for great content as always (besides this point)! ;)

Callaway drivers have always been a bit heel biased with their CG because the weight of their sleeve is heavier than other companies. I’m guessing the 14g weight in the heel really makes the club extremely heel biased and also loses some of the forgiveness. My guess is that they expect most players will leave the 14g weight back, although aftermarket weights would allow for some tinkering.
Mark- i have a slow swing speed and i notice that Callaway offers a 40 gram shaft. Is that a senior shaft? (I’m 68) i hit a draw so how would i put the settings? Thanks

Lowering loft opens the face should of added loft, I'm draw setting and weight in heel for super draw setting.

I managed to get 284 yards out of it on a 115 mph club speed according to the Trackman.
