Reggie Salad 100% agree.... I go to Scott Gourlay (Ian’s mate 😉) at SGGT in Edinburgh. There are 1000’s of so called fitters, but so few of them are really good and so many just want to sell you something.
You do have to factor in, that it’s difficult with high handicap players. The swings are so inconsistent. As a fitter...some like Matt is super easy to fit
@@paraconda94 yes that is true personally for me, I currently play off 1, at worst get out to 5 or 6 sometimes, been fitted professionally 3 times by 3 different professionals with trackman involved and so on.. and never quit seen it done to this extent, example, working with the sleeve options as well! As sharft together for the right fit, and just just with loft but also lie, and swing weight side of things also, they always just give you a few sharft options, maybe move a weight here or there if the driver head has that option, maybe move loft down a degree or up, Go thats good I think for you, bye thanks for coming $$, next person please.
I've had 4 fittings. 2 by a Titleist rep, 1 by a course that had a fitting center and 1 by an off-course fitter. Only the off-course fitter seemed like he cared but none of them show the absolute enthusiasm for fitting the right club for a person. Thanks for the video Ian and Matt.
This is a great representation of "does the golf shaft matter" question. Yes both shafts were solid, but it is really a place where fine tuning can be done to achieve a desired trait (anti-hook in Matt's case). On a side note: I just received my Callaway Custom Driver last October and went with a full Yellow and Black combo to match my shaft and grip setup. The cost was nuts, but it does look really cool.
#4 Black and Blue with blue major accent is a nice way to cap off all the time you have invested in this journey. #1 also for the minimalist in you Cheers! good luck enjoyed the heck out fo the series!
Watching this 2 years after the video was made, Matty's driver swing looks way better now than in this video. A testament to all the hard work on the swing. Now just need to get the speed back!
Very few people I could watch swing over extended periods of time. Mr. Matt is one of them. Seeing how he generates his speed is so nice. When I book my fitting, after the crazy goes away, the only thing I ask is that I get to see Matt smash a few! LOL
The best golf channel by far , Ian/Matt know so much information about the equipment.... although still get angry that Matt can drive a ball so good every time 👏
Shout out to Mattys stamina! Anyone who has been fit for a driver will be in awe of how he is not pumping sweat and still swinging pure after 15 shots🤣
I love seeing the level of detail that goes into fitting Matt - and that is with someone who Ian knows down to the nth degree what his golfing tendencies are. I just never see this level of detail anywhere else As for colour scheme - option 4
Right.....the saving begins to come over to Coburg from the UK to see the family and come pay you guys a visit for a fitting on new irons and driver possibly next year or the year after.

Simon Hudd Is never be able to travel to Canada to have the guys from TXG fit me but there’s a few Top 100 fitters here in GA that Ian and Matt have inspired me to go see after I get the money saved up. I’ve only ever had one driver fitted past the extremely basic “free” in store fitting and to this day it was the best driver I ever had. I can only imagine what an entire bag would do for me.

I love that you addressed the right miss in the fitting as I was afraid that would creep back in without that heavily fade biased G410 setup. The grip/shaft/face angle adjustments seemed spot on!
Another quality production! Ian, thanks for bringing the Accra brand to our laptops. I've changed to TZ6's in Driver and 3 wood and it has been a very welcome change.
More brackets please! I cannot wait to see the finished product including the sleeve adjustment. Matty - What adjustments are you making on your swing? Perhaps, a segment on your swing evolution with Larry would be interesting for everyone.
Assuming we get to golf sometime this spring/summer, I plan on trying Lamkin TS1 Midsize grips (57g) as they are only 4 grams heavier than the standard TS1 (53g) grips. Just trying to get appropriate sized grips without drastic swing weight change; those Golf Pride MCC+4 grips are 66g in midsize verses 52g in standard.
Great insights, as always, chaps. Looks like a superb set up. Love the grey and blue head accent option. A deadly, if pricey, weapon to wield on the course, Matt. ⛳️
Like the custom options. Reminded me of how my wife asks me where I (debatable) want to go out for dinner (where she leads with three options she is OK with). 😀😁. Looks very solid and steady with some soon to be determined killer personal looks.
Matt, you're absolutely right about the drive head color. A more neutral color will make it look like a real driver. Callaway, no offense but the orange doesn't do a favor to the driver's performance. I wish TXG were here in Texas 🏌️♂️⛳👍
Could you guys talk more about what launch and spin is preferable depending on swing speed and what you're able to tweek with the shaft, loft and clubhead settings? I would also love a more in deapth conversation regarding peak heightsand other details in what you're looking for when fitting. To exemplify. Person X has a 104 mph swing speed. This is ideal launch, height spin etc. If these numbers are off by Y how are you able to tweek them with loft, lie, shaft, weights etc. Person Y has a 91 mph swing speed. What is different in terms of what numbers you want to see. Love watching what you do, but would really appreciate more details. Many thanks!!!
Hi guys all the way from the UK I've been following the channel for a month or so and the content is excellent I'm hooked also by watching the channel I've found larry cheung keep up the fantastic work and content guys you guys are different class 👊👍👌
Great video! I'd vote for a fairway wood bracket. Would love to see the major players up against each other. I guess 3 wood at 15* would be the most commonly played? I've personally found gapping and spin profile the hardest with fairway woods and the numbers could prove very useful for is all?
Great bracket and very insightful gents.... would love to see the big man play off greens or yellows on that hole.... he might find that a tougher smash!!!!!
Hey fellas, great content! Can’t tell you how much I’ve learned for your channel. I’ve recently gotten a full bag fitting and I was looking at drivers and I grabbed the Cobra F9 w/ hazard smoke in a stiff flex. Since this is an off the shelf shaft with this driver would you recommend trying to get fitted for other shafts or would this suffice until I’m able to get my handicap much lower.... currently a 10 handicap
Guys I love your stuff! I would love to have a fitting center with Pros like you are here in Germany! I would LOVE to spent my money in your center! :)
When you switched to the MCC+4 Midsize grip, did you add additional head-weight to compensate the heavier grip? I recall the 4g of lead tape for the baseline test, did you then add more on top of that? If so, how much did you add to the naked head weight?
didn't add more headweight after no - we'll probably aim for about D3 or so in the finished driver so we'll adjust the custom weight port or hotmelt accordingly
Was fitted to shafts in the 70g X-Stiff range, ended up going for the Tour Z RPG 462 M5+ and feels phenomenal! How does the RPG 462 M5+ compare to a ventus black 7x in the EI curve? Does the M5+ play more like a double x?
I've noticed Matt's swing has changed to where he stops his hands just above and outside his shoulder and his driver stops more upright in his back swing than he used to. I'm guessing this was an adjustment for timing. What changed? Was he leaving the club face too open when he took a more full back swing?
What will happen with the lead tape for swingweight? Hotmelt I assume or are there different weights for the head? maybe hotmelt with toe bias to additionally help eliminate the hook.
Is it common to see bigger grips in woods? I have a midsize on my driver and had one on my old 4 wood, but standard in all my irons and wedges. I always liked it but it worried my coach a bit when he first saw that my grips were different
Just watched and great informative fitting. Question, when you added MCC +4 grip, did you have to adjust the Swing Weight to match what he had with smaller grip? thanks
Your comments about swing changes after bracket testing got me thinking about the Home Run Derby in MLB. Seems like every year one of the players who participates in the home run derby "loses" his everyday functional swing. Anyway, this is a vote for color option 3
So for someone who also hit 3-5 up/path well from the inside but struggles with push fades (Hzrdus Black), what shaft would you recommend that helps turn it over a bit rather than leave it open? Great video boys!
considering efficiency ... any speculation why the Cal heads seem to read higher on CHS on Quad? ... I know some head shapes produce higher speeds on my TM4 and I have a pretty good idea why that is happening, but what would cause Quad to read a face wrong?
go for head no1. I am doing a custom shop too in black and white to match the stock shaft... cant wait!! Until I can afford Accra tour tz5 Proto 65 M5 custom shaft lol....
Hi Ian and Matt, love your videos. Learn something from every one. I just wanted to touch on the midsize grip fitting. Do you advocate going a slightly larger grip in the driver compared to the rest of the set for the majority of golfers, or is this just specific to Matt because you know his swing inside out. Thanks.
What midsize grip was it on the driver . I have tried the mcc midsize plus 4 . Wondered if this was a tapered or non tapered midsize . I also got a cp2 midsize on my cobra and I was finding I could swing hard with the midsize and didn't really hook it at all
If you’re looking for video thoughts.... may I suggest how the MP18 SC compares to the MP 20 MMC. Is there a large enough difference to warrant an upgrade?
What VA shaft would you recommend for a high handicap player with a 90 mile and hour swing speed? Looking to cut down my slices and hit more fairways. I have a smooth take away but more aggressive follow through. Thanks in advance.
If it were me, I'd do a USA patriotic red/white/blue Freaky Deaky Mavriky head but since Matty is Canadian, I like going with a blue/gray/white to match that shaft (knowing the custom head will still have the overall black look)
I’m curious what the final build cost for this beauty is going to run. I know the custom shop is $100 up charge. But how much is the shaft? Trying to figure out how much money I need to hide from my wife when I finally get fitted.
Did you not feel like you needed to add head weight with the heavy Plus 4 midsized grip. I like the plus 4 midsized but I am always worried about reducing the swing weight too much.
You feel confident that shaft still works if Matty gets back to 175 average? I suppose 3 or 4 percent more speed is probably less a concern on a fit than changes to a swing that alter delivery characteristics?
If weight was added to the Matt's Mavrik driver head, then why wasn't the VA Nemesys shaft considered, especially since Matt striped nearly everything using that shaft in his G410 head?
Great video guys....could I ask does Matt purposely stop his backswing short, I’m 55 and I am basically able to see the driver head before I stop the backswing..my driver is most erratic part of my game..maybe a shorter backswing like Matt May help?
Thanks, did you ever do a video on his swing changes and why he was doing them?, I’ve just watched a video from 2 years ago and his club head was where mine is now...
@Ian - I’m sure I could speak for the rest of us and thank you for always being transparent. In that spirit, can you tell us what the cost is of Matt’s soup to nuts setup?
walter lol yeah I figured there would be some idiot taking what I said out of context. The government stimulus package is designed to do two things: help those who are really struggling buy essentials, like food as you mentioned and allow those who are more fortunate to put those dollars back into the economy by buying goods and services...hence why they use the word “stimulus” in their bill verbiage. Don’t you worry though friend, I was speaking in jest and likely won’t be buying a $1,000 driver. Have a good day, hopefully your golf game is better than your understanding of economics.
@@Justin-uf9lc hey ass hole cool it on who you call idiots! I was just kidding around!! Maybe go out and get some sun on your face. I'm Canadian so I could care less what you do with the money.
When you hit a ball and say you caugt it low, or on the toe, how do you know where you caught it on the face? When I hit my driver I have now clue where on the face I hit it.

Colour combo nr 3, little bitt of silver and some blue details
Bracket for utility irons
Guys, you said something very interesting, for tour pros driver clubhead speed should equal trajectory. What other clubs does this apply to, if any?
If weight was added to the Matt's Mavrik driver head, then why wasn't the VA Nemesys shaft considered, especially since Matt striped nearly everything using that shaft in his G410 head?
Swingweight with Nemesys was C8 even with lead tape added
@@clubchampionmedia Wow...what is the Mavrik head weight stock, with no lead tape...190g?
Yes around there
@@clubchampionmedia OK. Thank you.
Great video guys....could I ask does Matt purposely stop his backswing short, I’m 55 and I am basically able to see the driver head before I stop the backswing..my driver is most erratic part of my game..maybe a shorter backswing like Matt May help?
yes it is on purpose, might be worth trying if you find you're struggling to control the driver
Thanks, did you ever do a video on his swing changes and why he was doing them?, I’ve just watched a video from 2 years ago and his club head was where mine is now...
How much could you move Matt's spin, launch angle and dispersion from best one to worst one when u were going through the options?
@Ian - I’m sure I could speak for the rest of us and thank you for always being transparent.
In that spirit, can you tell us what the cost is of Matt’s soup to nuts setup?
$1000 USD
TXG Tour Experience Golf you’re the man! welp...know where my stimulus is going 🤑
@@Justin-uf9lc LOL, great your GOV gives you money to live on(food etc) and you're going to spend it on a gold club.
walter lol yeah I figured there would be some idiot taking what I said out of context.
Matt. What % are u going after these drives? 80-90-95%. ? I use the accra tour z as well. I love that shaft.
80%
When you hit a ball and say you caugt it low, or on the toe, how do you know where you caught it on the face? When I hit my driver I have now clue where on the face I hit it.
just a feel thing, have had lots of experience mishitting the ball 😆
