    I can remember my father making one of these and I seem to remember he did it with 4 strings or ropes. And he finished with a square overlapping runner up to a brass ring much as you did with the 3 cords.

    You have outdone yourself and now I will too. I have a beach monkey ball reunion commemorative in mind for mid-summer.

    Like they say "Keep it Simple Stupid". Well, I did not. I used 3 different colours and singed them together to begin with. It took me 5 tries to make mine over a 1.5-inch foam ball with 6 turns on both sides. All ends where tucked inside the wraps and that's what took so many tries to get it right. You should have posted this video before now I would have done it your way. Thanks for the posting, I enjoy them.

    Im gonna try and do this but im gonna get it so all three chords come out at the same point so i can just braid them and make flail out of it i just found about 75 or 80 lbs of ball bearings laying on the shore of the mississippi from about a half inch all the way up to a little larger than a golf ball and monkey fists are legal in iowa where i live i also found about a thousand feet of nylon strapping in the woods behind my house tangled in a giant spaghetti monster knot that i spent about 3 hrs untangling so im gonna put em to use and make some good stuff out of it

    couldn't you have made it with the third cord also being used for the "key chain" part for tri color instead of two color?

    Hi. Can I ask how many mm is the Paracord around?

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello, if you're referring to the thickness of the paracord this is 550 paracord, so it's 4mm in diameter.

    With that many loose ends, this would be more decorative than functional. Imagine needing to use it for self defense and it starts unraveling.

      It should be fairly strong the way this is designed. The grip part is around the steel ball and the cut ends are opposite the of the grip, giving the grip a strong hold on the ball. the first wrap is cinched down around the second color, and the second color is cinched around the third color and all the stress is on the second color and the third colors

    What does a monkey's fist do?

    • @lesliemiller5790
      @lesliemiller5790 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it originally was used by sailors (think pirates' era) to pass a small rope from one ship to another, so they could then use it to pull a heavy (and strong) rope between the two ships, to aid in transferring cargo (and people) from one ship to the other. Also, sailors of that era would make small ones like this one to use as a weapon that could be easily concealed and readily available when needed (most ports forbad the carrying of swords and knives by sailors while in port, and would arrest them on sight)
