Shirley Temple was very talented in singing and dancing and I believe loved being in movies. She saved Fox during the Depression and how did they pay her back? She was dumped after she got too mature for Fox to use her anymore.
As a kid, i knew when a Shirley Temple movie came on it was gonna be good. What's not to like, you get a story filled most of the time with songs and dance to the great musical numbers of that era. After most of her films you are left with a glow. Love her in B/W or color.... she was the definition of Talent.
How can you not love that adorable lil girl? I grew up watching & admiring how talented she was, & every Sunday after church with my grandmother I couldn't wait to get home to watch one of her many movies. Then I began a collection of them on VHS & shared them with my own daughter who also grew to adore her just as much as I. She'll forever be "America's Sweetheart"!

I adore all the clothes and beautiful hairstyles too, everyone was so stylish. It makes me laugh a little though to see them getting all dressed up in ballgowns and matching uniforms to go to someone's sitting room to sing on the radio!
My 96 yr old Mom says it was funny, these were made during Depression days. Everybody in the films were rich and people wanted to see pretty things and big houses and glamour because real life was pretty tough.
Hahaha..cool. 40 years ago, I found out about Kurusawa films...in SF Japantown. I'd go to see the same movie 2 or 3 times. Japanese spoken, Chinese subtitles...no English... Seven Samurai Hidden Fortress Yojimbo ...and many others.... It was only 10 years later, after I moved to Taiwan to teach, that I found a set of kurusawa Dvds with English subtitles
Ive actually heard the 'back story' about her life and it was nowhere like people saw her. Her parents were mean for starters and took all her money. There were many other things which was very sad but cant remember a lot I wouldnt have enjoyed having parent like hers were!

It is all clear sometimes, that she putson an act of cheerfulness and charm for the adults, like children do.But she really must have been "self-reliant" to manage that well. What a lovely story. So glad Miranda loosened up anfd for the man to finally get er. He was so nice.I hipe the unfortunate lover found someone suitable, unrequited love is oainful.

I'm sure the book was interesting and we can all relate but she sure left a well of fine work so put your mind on things above and forget the mean parents the sexual abuse the loneliness and every other negative thing and put your eyes on the beauty in this world how about that
Shirley Temple was one extremely talented child! I always feel so sad for child actors, and I can only imagine the way she was handled as a child and pushed, but at 8 years old she had more talent than all the actors of today combined!
I’ve never seen them before because my parents didn’t have television. I did see Shirley on TV when she was an ambassador and she was just lovely. I much prefer her to Elizabeth Taylor. Little Shirley temple was a sweetheart she captured so many hearts some of her films made me cry she was a good little actress Rest In Peace little one.
People's attitudes about life changed after World War II. And the things that appealed to audiences from the point on also changed. People became more cynical, and movies started to be more reflective of reality. There was less of an appreciation of dream/fantasy escapism as in the 1930s.
I love the ambience of this film. It's so picturesque. I'd love to live on a farm and in a house like that. So beautiful. I have watched this movie a dozen times in the last week. Watching again and enjoying every moment. It's hard to believe all these people are gone now. It's almost a hundred years old, this movie.

I think this was Shirley Temple's best movie. What a great cast, including two beautiful ladies (Gloria Stuart and Phyllis Brooks)! The Tin Man's heart was working just fine in this one.

I love all Shirley Temple movies since I was little in the 60s. I always love the musicals with her dancing, especially with George Murphy in, " Little Miss Broadway" and particularly with, the great Bill Robinson, in many of her films, he was an awesome dancer! Excellent performance with, Jack Haley and Alice Fay, in "Poor Little Rich Girl" I always got a kick out of Jack Haley, he was such a cornball, but funny. Lol All RIP.

Love these classic movies with Shirley Temple when she was just a little girl . My oldest sister had a Shirley Temple doll that our Grandmother got her . Dont know if my sister still has it , no telling how much that doll is worth in good condition . Any hoo , THANKS for posting these great films !

In an interview with Larry King, Shirley shared how she disliked colorized versions of her movies because she appreciated how much work was put into lighting, camera angles etc to get the right contrast of BW.

We were never treated to Shirley Temple films on T.V. when I was young, so its wonderful to be able to watch her on You Tube. She was the most adorable little girl ever. as well as the most talented. There will never be another
I love all Shirley Temple movies since I was little in the 60s. I always love the musicals with her dancing, especially with George Murphy in, " Little Miss Broadway" and particularly with, the great Bill Robinson, in many of her films, he was an awesome dancer! Excellent performance with, Jack Haley and Alice Fay, in "Poor Little Rich Girl" I always got a kick out of Jack Haley, he was such a cornball, but funny. Lol All RIP.
