Thank you for posting this. Dame Maggie was such a force of nature in this. GB Shaw was a wiz at writing biting dialogue, and she delivers each syllable deliciously. RIP
Brilliant Maggie . Watching this now again now years later on the day of your passing in honouring u . Rest well dear lady . Thank u for the countless hours all your characters ever brought pleasure , laughters , drama in all my 50 years my life and the world .
The incomparable and wonderful Maggie Smith. What a joy to watch her in action, never disappoints, never wastes a move, or a glance. The cast is excellent.
Oh my goodness Maggie is amazing!!!! She always carries with her the basics of good acting and adds her Maggie Smith magic to it!!!! Like a great chef!... "What happened to the chair"...."I happened to the chair, take heed!" I love the way she does everything!!!!! ❤ Thank you for sharing!!!!
Who knew that only a month later we are here to mourn Dame Maggie Smith?. In these recorded performances she lives on for us. May they bring joy to many generations to come and may they be in awe of her life's work as we are now. R I P 💐
She has been a marvellous actress for all her acting life. Just a look said loads. Her quips in Downton Abbey were priceless. There is no one to replace her today. A sad loss to film, theatre and tv. Thankfully we have her DVD’s etc to keep her performances alive for all to watch. RIP
I already have this on DVD...and it's an INCREDIBLE production! Maggie Smith is OUTSTANDING as Epiphania and Tom Baker steals the show as the Egyptian Doctor!
Fantastic movie! I truly marvel at the skill of Maggi Smith's memory to present these long texts coming fluently from her mouth. The script is great, and the recurring amusement on the lawyer/bookkeeper's face was priceless. 🖐🧙♀
*Maggie...young, older and in between you were such a talented woman who stole* *every scene that you were in. We know that you are soaring with the Angles! Just* *know that you were truly loved!* 💫💖 *Subscribed...Thank you!*
Had never seen this before. I'm watching anything with dear Maggie that's on You Tube. The things she does with her props and her hands, esp. when doing comedy, are just inspired and hilarious. Tom Baker as The Doctor! Of course.
No one did fast paced yet precise badinage quite like Maggie Smith. As others have put it she was singularly unparalleled. There's nobody quite like her. She was never a 'type' and no one has yet come along who you'd say was 'a Maggie Smith' type, which is a rare commodity.
An amazing talent, equally adept at comedy and drama. I saw her in the West End ages ago in LETTICE AND LOVAGE and loved her in THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE. She will be missed.
An extraordinarily courageous performance. Others have done it on stage and screen, among them Kate Hepburn and Sophia Loren. Neither dared to show us the absolute awfulness of the heroine, a perfect Shavian example of the what he believed too much or too little money could do the human soul-no better example than this father-adoring, thoroughly selfish, spoiled rotten brat daughter of a rich man who has taught his child to be as cold-hearted as he has been. In the final act, the ice begins to melt, and Maggie transforms without a touch of sentimentality, exactly as GBS intended the role to be played. It is a virtuoso performance, beautifully planned and executed down to every flip of her fur and turn of her head. The fine art of English acting at it’s very best.
wow. i'm almost ashamed to admit that i only(or primarily) know her from Downton Abbey. forgive my philistinism(or shanty irish mick from detroit-ism), but I'm only now seeing that she was never less than wonderful and amazing as an actress, from the very beginning. So wonderful to see her in her prime. The talent is mesmerizing....🙏♥️🎭
Beautifu, smart, kind-hearted, funny and talented; Maggie Smith was a gem! I like the Characters in this film, but the format isn’t My favourite. Thank-You for uploading!
Thanks for putting this up, but to be honest I struggled with it, but then I'm not a huge fan of GBS. Maggie was great, as always. May I say I think you're doing sterling work with your channel. Really looking forward to seeing Rex Harrison in Chekov's Platanov.
I am barely 4 minutes into this movie and I see BETTY BRODERICK. I lived in San Diego when Betty shot her former husband and his 2nd wife as they slept in their Hillcrest bedroom. Her excuse for the killings because of HER humiliation as the divorce decree awarded her ' only $9,000 monthly', in 1980's dollars. "HOW was I supposed to live on a measly $9,000 for a whole month?" "I couldn't live with the humiliation of being a pauper!"
I thought I recognized Charles Gray: "It's a jump to your left...put your hands on your hips." Rocky Horror Picture show, "Let's do the time warp again."
While I'm delightfully surprised to see an old English movie have its female lead end up with a Muslim man I can't help but feel disappointed she didn't end up with Mr sagamore i shipped her with him so much Dame maggie what a legend her acting in this is magnificent I'm so glad i found the whole movie this time although it was also fun watching it in segments of TH-cam videos last time i saw it

🙄
First time to see this. Maggie was one of a kind! ❤🎉
She was something special ❤❤🎉
A 2 hour monologue. Brilliant!
What a splendid and entertaining farce, and so perfectly interpreted by Maggie Smith.
Maggie was good when she was young, very good when she reached 50 and superb above 70.
What an Actress ❤❤❤

Excellent cast, excellent play. Thankyou.❤️Dame Maggie Smith.
Utterly sublime!
She was a brilliant actress she will be missed 😢 thanks Maggie for your entertainment
A peerless performance with a gifted cast, and, of course, plenty of barbed, Shavian denunciations. A very meet valediction for a wonderful talent.
How stunning beautiful and clever she was.❤
Mrs. Smith, is hilariously funny!! a laugh a minute!

You must watch her in her Oscar winning performance in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Classic
....and appearing with a stylish cast, including the great Charles Gray - one of our finest scoundrels of all time - in his prime.
Most Excellent 😊

Maggie Smith proposing to Tom Baker. I can relate to that...
Marvelous

"HOW was I supposed to live on a measly $9,000 for a whole month?" "I couldn't live with the humiliation of being a pauper!"
The first part of this was filmed in Lincoln’s Inn, London.
Now that is some good movie !
First time seeing this play. It is excellent and far better than "Private Lives" !
I love the way all her drama tickled her lawyer...
Sin duda alguna Maggie Smith fue una actriz talentosa 🤩. Y neta, su personaje, aunque risible y tacaña, como que te da a reflexionar sobre cómo el dinero en cierto modo influye en la gente.

I kept thinking that the Egyptian doctor had the exact same voice as Tom Baker, and kind of looked like him, but I thought the age was wrong.
