    The flying head was the most dangerous ghost in Chinese lore, because you need to kill both head and body, if one of them remains alive it steal other peoples head or body as a new vessel. Back then you don't have any ace baseball player to hit the head, so it's kinda hard to hit.

    Ik these are just fairytales and all but my grandma has seen nukekubi once in real life. One day she was visiting one buddhist temple with her relatives which is outside of the country where not so many people are around. She and her relatives planned to stay there for one night b4 moving to another destination. During that night, my grandma needed to use the toilet, which is an old traditional toilet, a small wooden box for a person. Once she opened the door, she saw smth hairy and glowy underneath the toilet and she was afraid there might be some sort of a snake or anything that could endanger her and decided not to take a crap and go back into the temple to inform the monk and others. But when she informed about it to the monk, he responded how it is a nukekubi, the floating head woman. At 1st, my grandma couldn't believe what the monk just said to her but she thought to herself how a monk has no reason to lie to her at all and, believe me, my grandma is one of those people who has very little to no belief at all in yokais, in other words, monsters and ghosts. She decided to go check on it to make sure it is truely a nukekubi and just in that moment, she saw the head floating away from the toilet into the trees. Crazy right? Idk if this is real or not but thought it might be fun to share with people about what my grandma told me.
    I am so sorry for my bad english, have a great day everyone.

It would be interesting if you did an analysis video about the Japanese Warabe Uta, these are some sort of nursery rhymes and they are often used in traditional children's games. The Nukekubi sounds almost exactly like a monster in SEA folklore called the Krasue, the only difference being that Krasue have some or all of their guts dangling under the flying head, while leaving the body hollow. Which at least answers the question of how they drink blood.

    Your head awake and body asleep is a accurate description of sleep paralysis. Your brain “turns off” your ability to move during a dream so you don’t run around when you dream about, I dunno, a T. rex with a Jay Leno head chasing you. You get sleep paralysis when you mentally wake up, but you can’t move around because your brain still has you on lockdown. Wait a few moments and you will eventually get out of the mental lag. Sleepwalking is the exact opposite of this. You are dreaming but your brain didn’t put your body on lockdown so you are literally running around your bedroom trying to escape Jay Leno T. Rex.

    • @Linfamy
      @Linfamy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol what's up with the Jay Leno T-Rex dreams though?

    • @jennifercarriger6168
      @jennifercarriger6168 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dreams are dumb. If I dreamed of a Leno Rex I would be terrified in the dream and then wake up thinking “why would I be so terrified of something so hilarious.” Also, I used to get sleep paralysis a lot and in the beginning I was terrified of it because I was afraid I would never move again. After a while, it just annoyed me that my brain was essentially lagging and I would hope my husband would just drop kick me out of bed already so I could move on with my day. 😂

    You're the expert, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I had read a while back that the rokurokubi were actually a misunderstanding of the older yokai, the nukekubi. In the drawings, they showed a thin string attaching the head to her body (like it was the soul stretching, or something?). Later, people started misinterpreting this as actually being her neck, so the rokurokubi were created. Also, I'm writing this before finishing the video so I don't forget, so apologies if you address this. lol

    • @Linfamy
      @Linfamy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I read that somewhere too, but I don't know why they would claim that because the nukekubi likely came first, from Chinese stories.
      Edit: oops, misread your comment. I suppose that could be true. In the art I've seen, the thin necks look like necks though, not strings (the base of the neck tapers from the shoulders to the thin part).

    • @TosiakiS
      @TosiakiS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah and we have what's called Kuyang (Coo - young) here in Indonesia. Basically people who walks among us as normal humans during the day but the thing separating them from being normal humans are their ability to detach their head (like the nukekubi) BUT along with their organs still attached to the head and then the severed head with organs hanging will fly around to find prey (they will suck baby's blood and the blood from pregnant women who just gave birth) while their headless body is kept hidden in their house
    While there _are_ male kuyangs,most of them are women because often the reason they become one is to achieve eternal youth and longetivity (It is said they live up to 300 years) The ability can also passed down to family members like this video's Japanese yokai. The only difference is kuyangs don't lose their conciousness while detaching from their body,so while sucking blood from their prey,they are completely aware of what they're doings. Hope this give you guys more knowledge of other country's supernatural creatures for fun as well ^_^

    It’s something I kinda noticed. And if you seen the latest Lockstin video you would kinda get it.
    But for some reason, magical monsters that take on the form of beautiful women (and sometimes men) all to tempt the poor victim and end with either death, a cruel trick of love, or the significant other that tries to keep their true self hidden, is a pretty universal concept. Kinda like the dragon. But for a lot of cultures with extensive mythology and even religions, we always get the monster creature thing to become something very attractive all so that we can bone them/get boned by them.
