Whats It Like to Camp Death Valley in January - Four Days Camping In and Around Death Valley

- In January we spent 4 days camping and exploring Death Valley National Park and the Surrounding areas. We camped near the tallest sand dunes in California, Eureka Dunes. We visited Ubehebe Crater, and Racetrack Playa, home of the famous sailing stones. Left the park to explore the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mt Whitney, as well as the famous Alabama Hills. We then drove on a spare tire back into the largest national park outside of Alaska and camped near the lowest spot in North America, Badwater Basin. We got to view the beautiful Artists Palette and Golden Canyon. Lastly, before flying home from Las Vegas we stopped at an amazing Nevada state park called The Valley of Fire.

Glad I found your channel, love finding like-minded individuals. Great video.
Great videography and photos. As someone who has explored DVNP for 40 years, truly enjoyed your production.
Brought back beautiful memories
I just left and was so overwhelmed by the beauty of that place. I cant wait to go back and this gave me a lot more info.
Wow! Thank you so much for the incredibly animated and informative video. My best friend and I are headed to Death Valley for the winter and this was the video footage that we needed to see. We are beyond excited.🎉❤
Gald we could be of some help. Hope you guys have an amazing trip!

This video is phenomenal
Excellent. Great quality. Thank you!
This is an amazing video! Great work and it looks like an awesome adventure!
Great blog!
Wow amazing video
Nice camera work! The night shots were impressive. We were there at the end of January 2023 in the southern part-Trona Pinnacles, Mengel Pass, Badwater Basin and ending up in Lone Pine. It was crazy cold. Too bad Titus Canyon was closed due to the floods in August of 2022. Now with more flooding later in 2023, not sure when parts of the park will open.
lol yeah ppl
think Death Valleys Warm
try in January @
night
Good trip, great photography and presentation. Thank you.
Great trip. I had no idea the valley had Josuha trees!
I didnt know either until we started seeing them lol. They are only in the higher elevations outside of the main valley. It was a cool experience we werent expecting.
Head down Morning Star Mine Rd in Mojave and there’s like a million very tall Joshua trees there it’s actually amazing
Amazing quality guys! Keep up the good work!
I subscribe to a number of nature camping channels and your work is a cut above. Nuts that you only have 500 subscribers.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, and we appreciate the kind words
Amazing work ! Keep it up !
Eureka Dunes is an awesome spot
Titus Canyon is a great drive
Washboard roads result from a lot of use and inadequate maintenance in the form of blading the road to smooth it out. Vehicles create the washboarding.
cold in the night, then warms up if your lucky.
beautiful video and editing work! did your drone have a problem taking off from the park? I brought mine a few years back and it took off fine, but not sure if DJI will prevent you from taking off if you are within the geofence of a national park.
Can AWD honda civic treck thru those roads?
I can imagine the horror on the faces of settlers who had to go thru that hell hole when told that you wanted to go there
Racetrack Playa is absolutely worth the annoying road drive. Typically badly washboard, plus a lot of the road climbs an alluvial fan which are always bumpy.
Death Valley is cold in January
Where did you camp at on the last night? The one below sea level? I’m heading out there this weekend and would like to camp there as well. Awesome video btw!
That spot was somewhere along Trail Canyon road. Its in the main valley across from Badwater Basin and Devils golf course. The road heads up into a mountain canyon and there are several spots where people have camped before. We got there later in the day and alot of the spots were occupied already but they are very far apart so when we did find one it still felt very secluded. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a good trip!
@@skunkersoutdoors5120 awesome. Thanks!
Awesome video, but music too loud, could barely hear the talking
That poor rental😂 you guys definitely got your money’s worth, I know those washboard roads, and Lippencott😂 this is why you should never purchase a vehicle that has been a rental😂😂😂
Why the loud music drowns your voices
Can't fly drones in Death Valley.
True... all drone footage inside the park for this video I got from a stock footage website and was not captured by myself. Anyone planning on visiting should know that you cannot fly drones in any national park unless the National Park Service grants a permit first. While I enjoy drone footage for its ability to show the scale and wonder of a location, some places need to be kept untouched for people to enjoy undistracted.
Interesting petroglyph think it says that 3 warriors entered chasing mt goats, and two died from heatstroke and the remaining hunter killed 3 more goats, it is a warning to stay out of the valley, would be my guess
First!
It's against the rule to fly drones in NPs. It's better if everyone respects that to better preserve nature.
I agree, anyone planning on visiting should know you cannot fly drones in any National Park without a permit. While I enjoy drone footage for its ability to show the scale and wonder of a location, some places need to be kept untouched for people to enjoy undistracted. All the drone footage of Death Valley in this video was not filmed by myself and was obtained from a stock footage website.
Where they camped below sea level is this video is ILLEGAL. Do not do this. You can disperse camp in a lot of Death Valley Natl Park, but not in any location in the valley bottom.
Good to point out that anyone planning to dispearsed camp in the national park should know, and be up to date on all current rules. I believe they are going to be instituting an online permit system going forward. That campsite was along trail canyon road, far enough towards mountians to be out of the designated no camping zone that makes up the valley floor. However it may not have actually been below sea level that was just an assumption I made while editing the video
@@skunkersoutdoors5120 I was referring to around 12:40. It does look like Trail Canyon Road. If you are more than one mile from the West Side Road, its all good. And you are right, that would be above sea level.

Why that music ? Are you stoned?
