🐾🐶 I love that the priority is keeping Wes happy. If I had a puppers it would be the same thing 💕 Even temperatures, no loud noises … lots of walkies lol ❤
It's been 20 years since I lived in New Mexico but the state parks in the southern part are awesome in the winter. Mesilla is a great old historic town. Gila National Forest shouldn't have too much snow and there are some great locations around Deming, NM and along the NM/AZ border. I would wait till April/May for northern NM and southern CO. There is a road that goes from Chama, NM to San Antonio, CO that is beautiful and Durango, CO to Silverton, CO is absolutely gorgeous starting mid-June/July!
Trona is one of our favorite spots to camp especially in the winter. Aside from the wind it's amazing! Mojave has so many cool spots and we plan to explore more there too. Great video!
Colorado and New Mexico have some beautiful places to see. We enjoyed Telluride and Ouray and Lake City in Colorado, and also Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In New Mexico, we enjoyed the cat walk in a slot canyon near Glenwood, NM on the western border of the state. Also Mayhill, on Hwy 82 east of Alamagordo is a pretty mountain town. And of course the well-known places like White Sands, Carlsbad are really great. If you make it to Carlsbad, you're really close to a less visited National Park of Guadalupe Mountains (which is actually in Texas).
Thanks for all the amazing travel tips! We love to explore all of the hidden gems out there. I’m adding your suggestions to our list now. 😊 All our best!
It's in Arizona, but Jerome and Bisbee, AZ are fun towns!! Very excited to see where you visit in Colorado and New Mexico, as both places are on our list to revisit soon. Love your videos and Wez 🥰
Indeed, a place like Death Valley will always be packed to the scuppers over a holiday period when so many people are on break. Wait a week until they're all back to work or school, and the crowds will thin out quite a bit.
Agree! Unfortunately timing doesn’t always work out, but we were there at the end of last week and it had already thinned out drastically. That video (with less crowds and more sights 😊) will be posted this coming Sunday.
The North Pass is the way to go. South will definitely take a toll on your vehicle. Hope you can get back out there soon. It was our first time, but imagine it hasn’t changed much over the years. 😊 All our best!
Camping when it's in the 30's at night and short sleeves during the day is absolutely perfect. Since you guys like hot springs Pagosa Springs Co is a must do. You can then head across the wolf creek pass which has tons of NF to camp in. Great Sands NP is pretty cool, Zapata Falls has a nice rustic campground. Cuchara valley is a nice drive if you want to head south toward New Mexico. The loop thru Taos, Angel Fire, Eagles Nest, Red River and Questa is enjoyable. The wild river recreation area has some nice camping. The high road to Taos is a great drive and will get you near Santa Fe.....great place to spend a day..............Happy Trails🦮
Awesome! Thanks so much for all the recommendations. The springs sound amazing and definitely need to put those on our list. Really appreciate you sharing. Sounds like we have lots of cool places we need to explore. All our best! 😊
Oh hey, what a great campfire meal idea! Will have to remember that one for our colder campouts which will probably get started in May this year. Just depends on what Wyoming does with her weather. It's funny I was just thinking I need to make some pasta faggioli today because I was grating up a huge block of parm for the freezer. There's a sandwich shop here in town that makes it now and then and it's SUCH a comfort on frigid days when I'm in my car all day for work. I do outpatient hospice nursing and the winter can be brutal! Hot carbs are exactly what's needed.
Thanks for sharing your pasta fagioli story! We love making comfort food in the van on colder nights. Hope you have a good winter in WY for camping. Stay warm out there on your way to jobs. We appreciate what you do so much. The best people we’ve ever met were my mom’s hospice nurses. They were so kind and compassionate. I’ll never forget how they helped through such a difficult time. You are an amazing human being. ❤️
The deep poncho colors look great on you! Love all your videos(to the point I double check a few times a day to see if there is a new one)! I voted for New Mexico, yah! I’m sure plenty of “ you must go to TAOS” comments will be incoming.
Thanks so much! 🥰 Appreciate you sharing how much you love our videos. That means a lot to us. Also thanks for letting us know how much you like NM. We’re really excited to check it out. All our best!
We spent a week last April in a rented van and did the south rim of the Grand Canyon, Page (Antelope canyon) Sedona etc. it was a great trip. You can stay at the campground at the south rim and have access to the park before it officially opens. Sedona had some great hiking but was very commercialized. but Cottonwood nearby was actually s neat little town where a lot of the local Sedona workers live due to wage disparity. There is a good winery there owned by a famous musician who lives there too. Sedona has zero overnight parking also which we found out the hard way. We made friends with some random folks that lets park in their Airbnb driveway. Keep up the adventures we love to follow along!
Thanks for sharing your awesome experience! We're always on the lookout for new places to explore, and your trip sounds amazing! Also good to know about Sedona and the South Rim. We really want to see Sedona, but have heard the same… much appreciation for sharing! All our best!
Thanks! We really want to explore TX too! Just depends on how much time we have before we head north. We’re putting those on the list though. All our best!
Hello fellow Nevadan’s We sold our Sprinter, 😢 but did full time for 6 years before settling down again on 395. We spent time in DV a month ago in our vintage camper. Love it there. So many great places in Colorado/Utah/New Mexico. We really like New Mexico because it’s vast, and not as RV congested. Have fine, like your vids.
That’s a great run! Six years is a long time to live on the road. Sounds like you have a pretty cool setup now with your vintage camper. We’re really excited to check out NM. Glad to hear you guys loved it. All our best!
North Rim is closed for the winter. They dont reopen till May. We learned the hard way a couple years ago. The 89 from Flagstaff to North Rim has a lot of beautiful scenery. There is also a lot of primitive camping around the North Rim but might be cold this time of year.
Great suggestion! We have been thinking we might make it to Texas…. We’ll see how far east we go before we head north. Would definitely like to check it out though! Thanks!
Love your channel guys! We did a 5 week Southwest road trip in our Sprinter in September, epic trip! Places that stand out that I'd recommend on your Southwest journey: 1) Great Basin NP, eastern Nevada; 2) Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, Colorado; 3) Ouray/Telluride/Silverton, Colorado; 4) Mesa Verde, Colorado; 5) Valles Caldera National Preserve and Bandelier, New Mexico; 6) Bentonite Hills near Torrey, UT. 7) Petrified Forest NP, Arizona.
Can you give information on where one might buy that poncho. I have an alpaca one but no front pocket and I love that option. Just don’t want to randomly search and buy junk. Love watching you guys.
If staying near Page, Az, camp at Lone Rock Beach on Lake Powell. It is right at the Az/Utah border on the 89 . No assigned camping. Water and dump, so pretty nice.
If you put the onions in the fridge for a few hours, and then use a very sharp knife to cut them, they won't cause you to tear up. Thanks for all the great videos.
How are we just learning this about onions?? Thanks for the tip! Definitely trying that next time! Appreciate you watching and commenting. All our best!
We told you when we were going to the springs. Does that count? 😆 We also have the Spot just in case. 😬 Will definitely make sure you have the full route next time. Love you!
You didn’t mention going to these states but if your route takes you there, here are a couple of suggestions. If you follow the very southern route, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in AZ is amazing. We didn’t go but there are hot springs in the area. There’s tons of boondocking in the area. White Sands in New Mexico is otherworldly and one of the few NP that allow dogs.
Guys check out Bisbee Arizona! I used to live there when I was in the 7th grade. It's an old copper mining town I think you guys will really enjoy. Check out the Copper Queen Mine tour if you go. It's awesome! Safe Travels, Austin from Norcal
Just so everyone knows, they closed Wild Rose campground and its Kilns, Thorndike and Mohgany flats campgrounds, and the Wild Rose and Telescope peak trails and all thier side roads, on January 6th until March 2025 for " lengthy construction work on Emigrant canyon rd". This is to address flooding issues and possibly minimize flooding in the future. Happy travels!
We drove by it on our way out. Didn’t know it existed till then, but looked pretty cool. We’ll have to camp there next time. Have you stayed there before?
Well you won’t see many travel trailers, 5th wheels or class A out on those roads. It seems like a pain with the permits and not knowing what’s available, especially if driving for hours. The map is definitely helpful but the Recreation.gov app is horrible. I have a bunch of overlap images on it. It’s definitely a computer based resource. It’s just like beggars canyon back home. It’s not impossible I use to bullseye womp rats in my T16 back home. 😂
Hahaha!!! Love the Star Wars reference. Totally agree. The recreation.gov app could use some help. We had to login with a computer to see which sites we were actually getting. Definitely not convenient when you’re living on the road! Either way, it was definitely more peaceful than the campgrounds.

That southern road into the springs is absolutely brutal washboard. Great advice to avoid it.
It really is! I think I still have a few teeth fillings missing from that drive. 😂
We've only traveled the northern road into Saline. Southern route always sounds like a pain. Miss that place. It's been a minute.
