At my office job, i often have to deal with people punching me in the back. After taking this problem to my boss and later HR, They purchased me a kevlar inforced back chair. Now my problem is that my head keeps breaking my monitor.
You just saved me from buying a mesh only chair. I always doubted the concept and the ones I tried didn't sold me on it but I assumed you eventually get used to it. That was before I saw you go through serious practical limitations of mesh seats specifically that will affect me. I have no issues with mesh backrest, but I mesh backrest and cushions seat is the perfect in between.
Better that than less and limited options. Or actually test these chairs for yourself, different people has different bodies especially across countries.
Herman Miller Aeron. Thank me later! I sued one of these every single day in an office for 5 years and legitimately never had a hurt butt or back once, and every other chair bugs me.
No. Because I could say "this chair is the best chair ever" and then the other guy will heavily disagree with me. Then you find out you don't like either of our recommendations.
another one: mesh chairs are prone to electrification. Basically if you wobble too much it will strike you. It puts petting a cat on a brand new level when you can strike your loved ones with electricity all day long :(
That foam support at the front of the seat had me returning 2 different chairs. I wanted more air circulation in the seat but this seems to be too much of a niche engineering problem to be affordable. Thanks for clarifying the issues!
Hi, did you hear of the Eureka Ergonomic Typhon chair? It's all mesh with a gaming style for around 600$. I would love to hear your opinion on it, since there aren't many review out there. To understand from someone who knows about chairs if it's worth the money or not. Thanks
Perhaps im weird but i bought a hyken from staples pre covid time and ive had it ever since the armrests kinda went to shit so i took em off and threw them away and then i slapped a mesh lumbar support on the back of the chair and its been good enough ever since .😅
This is the best video for someone who thinks a mesh chair would be a one size fits all solution to all the problems one is facing (which is what i was thinking after watching all the content online)
I have an Aeron in my home office and am starting to regret getting a mesh chair due to it forcing me to sit a certain way all day. I have an Amia and Leap at my office and find them to be more comfortable for long duration sitting. I like the seat of the Amia and the back of the Leap. If only there was a chair that combined the best traits of both chairs...
Actually the people at btod have done some Steelcase chair frankensteining.. I just don't remember anymore if it was the exact combination ou mentioned
I honestly don't see any upsides to having any mesh on a seat for the consumer. I'm convinced this is a trend that's being forced by corporations because it's far cheaper and easier to manufacture a plastic web than a fabric seat, and they can market them as futuristic to keep prices high and increase margins. If you want a great and comfortable chair you should be looking for 24-hour certified chairs and not office chairs. These are chairs designed to be sat in for up to 24 hours for long operations shifts, and come with a certification from doctors. A good chair should enable you to sit in multiple different positions as this encourages blood flow, and that's why when you start looking at these kinds of seats you'll immediately notice that none of them use Mesh as it's far too restrictive. I bought a mesh seat falling for the marketing at first, but instantly returned it as it was inferior in every meaningful way compared to the fabric seat I already owned which cost half as much. As this video highlights they're more inconvenient in practically every way. Don't fall for this trend.
Right, it’s just not practical sitting in the same position for 8 hours a day without the ability to adjust seat depth and sit cross legged. The mesh is just too firm after a long period of time. I prefer padded cushion seats. As for being inferior I would disagree as there are mesh chairs like the Aeron that can last a long time vs leather cushion seats that goes flat after several months of uses. I will consider trying those 24 hour seats if I have the budget for it.
I have compared the Aeron and Mirra 2 and am planning to buy the latter from a store that accepts refunds (with a restocking fee). What other chairs would you consider?
Hey guys any tips for a more affordable type of chair? I had a cheap $100 mesh chair which was comfortable but poor build quality the plastic snapped on the backrest after a few months. I just spend $250 2 days ago to try out an Andaseat gaming chair (first gaming chair) and am not a fan of the racer type chair tbh I think you're paying for style even though its great material and build quality, not the most comfortable, so I'm thinking of sending it back and going with something better for around the same price if possible.. My question is, if you have to pay ALOT for a good mesh chair, gaming chairs are not it either. Is there anything with value for money, like other types of office chairs? Thanks to anyone in advance!
I got a Branch chair and it came defective. They charged me to return it. The seat also felt cheap- cushion hit the base right away. Never getting anything from Branch
Yes their few good chairs out their i wouldn't recommend budget ones due to lasting long me personally i would say hm aeron i had mine over 2 years being able to sit gaming for 6 hours maybe longer if im not at work these go for over £900 but others might say budget ones or the Sihoo i tried both budget chairs & Sihoo budget ones are okay for short period of time now let's talk Sihoo this did do wonders on my back but suffering arthritis in my legs it tend to hurt badly the next day only sitting an hour or two thanks to sitting in it the day beforehand, My personal experience would be hm any really their comfy / steelcase their amazing aswel but personally that's me other chairs fit different people inc pains in back or legs height of person & chair itself honestly i recommend trying before buying some are comfy from little of £100 to 2k me i found more money spent more you'll get from being comfortable whilst gaming & working
500 max. The market is being abused. We should get together, a group of people, maybe internationally in order to combine each countries best resources, and break that open.
Thanks for vid. I tried and bought 2 mesh chairs from Ikea and returned both. So uncomfortable after long sittings. I need a cushioned chair, I should have realised that after the first chair
Loved this vid - super helpful and enjoyable to watch. Was going to buy an all mesh for £110 but I thought why not check and saw others priced around £600-£1000 like you said and wondered why. Now I know ! Thanks!
ANY low price chair will bring you problems. I have the ThunderX3 XTC and its a lot more confortable than my old gamming chair (roughly same price Alpha Gamer chair), Where i live its hot in the summer, this mesh chair ended the sweating problems, fabric chairs are also tough to clean, resistance of the material depends on quality of material (like in ALL cases). Much more ergonomic and adjustable than the Alpha Gamer. It has ups and downs like ANY other chair, on MY case: best chair i ever had, improved in every aspect on the Alpha Gamer gamming chair.
Thankyou for this Video, I was about to buy one online then I thought why not watch A video on mesh office chairs or comparisons. And now I am making an educated purchase. I'm not a big spender on chairs but I would definitely follow your advice before making a purchase.
Actually all those mentioned points made me rethink about my next chair decision. I was heavily leaning towards mesh chairs, but problems with hitting the frame and cleaning and the varying quality of mesh firmness... now I wanna stay away from mesh completely!
I totally agree with this video. I purchased a Mesh chair, not sure what the mfg name of the chair i purchased at Staples. It had a Mesh seat, the mesh started to tear around the seams after 3 months!
I have a mesh chair from wayfair that is at least 10 years old at this point. Heavy daily use and still sits like its new. I don't think I've used a better chair ever.
I agree Mesh chair is not good specially for back. The frame is going to hit back after 2 month of usage depends on body weight....most advertised ergonomic chair comes with mesh. No health benefit, for me its just opposite. Your video will make the people aware of the side effect.
I live in the tropics. I used my mesh office chair in my birthday suit every day. But, how do you clean the sweat and body oil out of the mesh??? Hot water pressure washing. Yep, fill the reservoir with piping hot water and pressure wash it clean. Sun dry in yhe tropical sun in a few minutes. You're welcome.
I would have loved to see more about the top crossbar, not only about left and right frames, especially for people like me who would call Robert "small".
One little snag, and you'll start a tear and you'll quickly have a problem in your hands. Mesh is a recipe for disaster in my eyes, and a cheap solution I personally refuse to use. Mesh is just a merketing hype like Air Jordans in the 80s. You'd better have a very good reason why you actually think you need it before you cough up a kidney to pay for a proper one. Just understand that Mesh will never symbol a quality chair, even though the hype want you to believe it. Test chairs upon purchase is my advice, because you may be surprised how much marketing mambo jambo is out there.
These aren't for everyone, but all that matters is that it's perfect for me. Low end mesh chairs can definitely put one off from ever buying a high end mesh chair, but the difference is honestly night and day. I hated mesh chairs before I got the Aeron, and was I strongly considering the Embody or Leap v2. But the Aeron is awesome, and it's helped improve my productivity immensely.
