      So fun fact, xbox and Playstation also have their own versions of game streaming, however, I don't have a ton of testing with Xbox's and Playstations is actual garbage.
      Plus the dedicated decoding hardware in most modern GPUs gives a HUGE edge to PCs

    Super Detailed! Its funny to see you seamlessly show people how to mitigate the literal $100s of dollars people are spending to play games they already own, on hardware that again, THEY ALREADY OWN, through means that we already have right under our nose. Steam is the only Launcher/Library Application that provides free cloud playing capabilities via their already free service. I've been using it for so long and again, if you're not playing ESports games like Call of Duty, Halo, Splitgate, Apex Legends, Fortnite, etc then it performs the same, if not better than, the Parsec configuration. But people who aren't interested in computer networking and other categories of the like, probably don't even think of this being a possibility as they aren't constantly thinking about ideas of how to get this to work because they probably aren't PC players. Shadow PC was another service I used to use when I didn't have my own decent gaming rig as they offer a complete administrative-privileged Windows Gaming PC over their servers that are somewhat strategically placed all across the world which you download their Client app and sign-in, automatically launching and starting the Windows OS on your shared Operating system running within a server setup consisting of Multiple Full Sized CPU's (constantly upgraded to be current gen) along side the Multiple Full Sized Nvidia RTX Series GPUs ( 2060/70/80 depending on your Membership Tier choice or sometimes you'd be swapped to a different hardware configuration of the same general performance, kinda... if you aren't well versed in the entire GPU model and performance department, and you'd be given the use of a Quadro P5000/6000 GPU) but it was awesome for only $11.99/mo no time limits or caps and full 1GB Internet. They went bankrupt and had to sell to who currently own it and now its like $30+/mo. Anyways sorry for the rant that wasn't asked for by anyone or their sister but I just wanted to highlight that this capability has been able to be had for a few years and the systems are just getting better over time, though more expensive over time as well if you're paying for multiple services to do this. But if you can find the budget to get yourself at least and mid-level gaming rig, find the time and interest in learning the very little knowledge needed to set up remote playing, cloud server, or tethered gaming, you can save yourself thousands of $ over time because it's like leasing a car, you're paying for something that isn't yours and isn't GOING to be yours at the end. For anyone reading this, thanks for the interest of seeing it to the end. You're the REAL MVP for that one. I'm out, peace and love!

    you know, its funny that you say its not good for competitive gaming. parsec and cloud gaming offers competitive fighting game players servers to play on with eachother that offer BETTER input delay than the servers the game company releases for you to play on, and also gives servers to play games that dont have servers anymore. its great! playing fighting games over parsec is actually better than say over xbox live or ps network

    lol, so I have been doing this with my headless server at home. but I have been using steam link. so this would be the best way to say play overwatch or borderlands 3 ( got it on epic). my biggest reason for me wanting to set something like tis up was for retro gaming. so using steam link has been good for that with bigbox and all my save states are in one spot. but.. I might just go down this path and see how I like it.
    see I was already running a plex server that was on 24/7 so I put a 1080 in it and now its a headless dual media/gaming server lol

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's sick dude! Yeah I'm doing something very similar. I have a jellyfin server instead of plex on mine but yeah I found that Parsec (for me at least) just works so much better than the alternatives (although moonlight is incredible on the firestick 4k which Parsec cannot run well on). The big advantage of this method beyond Parsec being a lot smoother is honestly just that Playnite can launch everything from any of the stores and bypass the launchers like battle.bet which for me is the cherry on top.
      Happy gaming brother!

    I have a priority level geforce now account and I use it to play games from a gaming server but there are ways to play these games on console using the web browsers rainway works but parsec is a bit difficult to setup as there is a bit of troubleshooting that is difficult to ignore sometimes.

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I haven't used consoles in a hot second for anything other than to play th4ough exclusives, but I've also heard that Rainway is the best option there.
      I need to do a 2022 roundup this year as I had issues with Rainway, but I've heard great things lately and I've actually gone away from using Parsec as I've found Moonlight superior in almost every circumstance due to how it handles screen capture.

      Funny you mention that, I actually had the xbox controller wired into the laptop, but the controller on my phone was a Razer Junglecat and is bluetooth only (looks similar to the Kishi which is indeed USB-C).
      I did a bit more testing since this video and what I have gathered is that the decoder on my phone is just a bit better at handling 1440p video (which makes perfect sense).

      So with parsec it just captures the frame buffer to share the screen, so what you're running or the way you're running it wouldn't matter. If you launch the game, they can play it no matter how you launch it.
      Trying to understand more, are you looking for a solution thst would allow you to share the files themselves so they can execute the game on their end?

      It's definitely worth a try. Because you would be the host in that scenario, you'd have to have a pretty good internet connection. The other issue of latency comes into play with distance.
      The larger the distance from the host, the more latency introduced. In other words you would ideally want to be within a few hundred miles of the client device to have the best results. This is why solutions like stadia and geforce now have server farms all over the world.

    So, I presume you'd have to not only have a good internet connection, a second device, but also fairly good specs on the host device. This is me responding without watching the whole video first. I'm trying to research some stuff.

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup! So you'd need at least some mediocre specs. I'd say you could build a $500-$600 dollar machine that could run most AAA titles at 1080p with medium to high settings.
      The overhead for Parsec is extremely low so any decent host machine will do. As far as internet goes, if you want to game on the go it's pretty much a fiber connection or bust in my experience unless you're playing strategy games or other turn based games. That being said, if you're streaming in home, Parsec simply uses the internet to authenticate the connection then everything else is just dependent on your networks bandwidth so your internet speed doesn't really matter much at all until you leave your home network.
      You can also follow the steps in this video on a cloud based machine and that takes care of the host specs and solid internet requirement for you.
      Hope this helps!

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey so it's hard to answer this directly because it's really a moving target with a lot of variables at play. The latency is on both ends so ideal you'd want you AND the person/client connecting to have under 20ms network latency TOTAL. Then you'll want probably about 5-7 mbps designated for each connection at 720-1080p so likely with 4 clients connected you'll want the upload set to around 50Mbps

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So this just taps into the power of an existing PC, so for this to works you'd have to have a PC accessible capable of running the game. You can run this is a cloud machine like those provided by paperspace pretty easily and that would easily be able to run Fortnite at 1080p 60fps.
      In regards to lag, as mentioned in the video, this is very much dependent on the internet connection. All cloud gaming has some degree of lag.
      If your connection is fast enough and your ping is low enough it is possible to have lag that is only about a frame or so. In other words most people wouldn't notice the delay at all.

      Hey! So unfortunately that would not be possible without enough money to buy several homes 😅
      The core issue comes down to existing hardware and how to split that up amongst users. You'd have to virtualize cores and potentially GPUs (depending on what approach you take) then you'd have to have a connection that could support that. Standard for the industry is 1 gigabit symmetrical connections so essentially you'd have to find a way to provide 1million gigabit per second internet.
      This is the type of task best suited to a data center and is what most of the streaming services are doing.

    is this the equivalent to Shadow Tech ? i use to have Shadow but i wanted another alternative that will allow me to use my regular laptop as a gaming pc with no lag when gaming or suffering the web. so I'm wondering if i can do that for this software as well.

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, so it's very similar! The core idea is the same wherein it allows you to dial into your PC remotely, and like Shadow, the experience is tailored towards extremely low latency function.
      The big advantage Shadow has would be that it's hosted in a data center with optimal routing and insanely fast connections.
      With Parsec, because you're installing it on your own systems, it's only as good as your internet connection. Ideally, the computer you are connecting to is connected via ethernet and has at least a 30mbps upload connection. If this cannot be achieved make sure you are at least connected to the 5ghz band on your router as the 2.5ghz band introduces crazy amounts of latency.
      I would say if you have great internet it'll feel like Shadow (honestly in my testing quite a bit better) but if your internet isn't great then you'll want to maybe lower the resolution and bandwidth in Parsec a tad to keep things smooth.

    What about if i connect 2 or more clients and play different games, is it possible?

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Parsec is used to access a computer and can be best thought of as an extremely finely tuned remote desktop client.
      It's would only be able to access what is currently on the screen.
      If you have a powerful enough PC, you could get a dummy HDMI or DP dongle as a "second display" and run the second game on the dummy display. Parsec allows you to select which screen you connect to, so it's possible your friend could dial into that display.
      It is important to note that onoy one person can use mouse and keyboard. Additional users have to use gamepads as Parsec can virtualize those.
      Hope this helps!

    Can this stream over the internet instead of a local lan connection

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly can! The bonus of LAN is obviously that you have control over the pipeline to a much greater extent and latency will be significantly lower, but Parsec works great over the internet as well!
      You'll want a fiber connection for best results however because the higher the latency the longer the period of time between when you move your mouse and when the frame is delivered back to your client device.

    • @taittech.9573
      @taittech.9573  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahhh so you're actually running into a Windows issue not a Parsec issue. Windows needs a mouse connected to render a cursor. In other words, if you unplug your mouse Windows decides there is not need for a cursor, hence why it's not rendered.
      You have two options:
      1) grab an extra mouse so that one is always plugging into the host machine
      Or
      2) Turn on mouse keys on windows. This tells windows to use specific keys to manipulate the cursor and thus will always render a cursor, even when no mouse is connected (I actually did this myself on my headless server to fix the mouse issue you are having).
      support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14204/windows-7-use-mouse-keys-to-move-mouse-pointer
      Either of those options should fix your issue 👌
      Side note, touch works like a track pad in Parsec and not point and click. Additionally I would def recommend using phone with a gamepad because it's definitely really hard to click things on that tiny of a screen. I also have a hard time with that.

    • @taittech.9573

      I wouldn't really worry about DDoS also that's not a penetration tactic, but rather a means to take a service down.
      It's in the name: Denial of Service. Additionally the point of an IP is to be exposed. It's why they exist, so services on the internet can find you, so you don't really protect your IP under normal circumstances.
      You do want to protect your network, by being careful what ports you forward, disabled UPNP, keeping things out of your DMZ, employing a firewall, ect.
      TLDR, DDoS is not something a general consumer would generally worry about and your IP is very much supposed to be exposed

      Yup! Parsec just runs in the background so you can connect when you want to. In fact you can even use it to invite someone in your friends list to dial into your machine and it gives them a set of virtualized peripherals that they control so if you have multiplayer games or an emulator perhaps, you can both okay, you on the host and them on the client at their home.
      This was initially one of the major primary uses for Parsec before they pivoted to less gamer, more professional creator focused.
