That’s a nice portable generator to have in your backup arsenal. Living in Florida, owning a couple of various size generators are an absolute necessity. We just passed the 4 year mark of Hurricane Michael on Monday and we were fortunate that we were only without power for only 8 days. My generator ran 24/7 the entire time and kept the freezer and refrigerator going.
They are a blessing for sure, they become the most important thing after a desaster (other than health).
I'm still more of a Jackery fan but if I needed a bigger one it looks like yours is a good one. Wow and congratulations on hitting 65K! Enjoying all the new folks coming to the Sunday livestreams too!

Generators are a must have here in Florida. I have 4 of them from 2000W up to a diesel on a trailer. I'm serious about my generators. We like to hot tube during a hurricane. Even my shop has it's own generator, AC, fridge, and water. I've sat in the dark, never again.
You and me both, I own several too. Too many times sitting for days in a hot sweaty house. Taking cold river baths got old.

I have the Aldi version of this generator. Love it. (Yes, Aldi has historically private labeled and sold these about once a year for the last 5 years or so.) I don't really call it quiet but if I can put it outside of my kitchen door, run a cord inside from it, and close the door, it's not so loud that you won't to grab earplugs. I replaced the dipstick in mine with a magnetic dipstick from the first run. I highly recommend one. I was surprised by how much metal dust was stuck to the magnet after running the first couple times.
I need to get one of those dipstciks. I can assure you this is insanely quiet compared to my other generators.
Bought one of Harbor Freight's in March , I have been very impressed with it's performance. Easy to Start and like that one very quiet.

This is a great generator. The Eco-Mode option keeps the generator at a low speed until it demands more power. It's fine to keep it on Eco-Mode all the time, it'll adjust accordingly.

Beware of the DEFROST cycle. Most modern frost free fridges and some freezers have a defrost heater which may present a load around 800 watts for twenty minutes, two or three times a day! Look at the schematic (attached to the rear of the fridge or on-line) and you will see the heating element(s), and a Control Module or simple timer defrost clock (old). The stated peak wattage may be that of the start-up surge, but it's the defrost cycle that's will suck up the gas. Also...Remember when having two or more freezer/fridges connected, it is only a matter of time before compressors happen to start at the same moment...and then...you better check your generator often to see if it tripped! It WILL happen!

Man that's a pretty damn good generator I have the generac 3500 IQ does the same as a 30 amp twist lock plug but the only thing is it's square bulky and heavy as heck
This company makes a similar model too. I was really interested in a quiet and portable model. I've never had that before and love it!
Need an extended run gas cap to run a external tank like my Honda. You'll get days of use, but of course you should rest them per the manufacturer suggestions.
I'm a big fan of letting these air cooled engines cool down every few hours.

My champion has been bulletproof, but it's your typical dirty power generator. I'm happy to finally have a clean inverter for certain situations. I'll definitely keep you updated on it.

Just received one of these generators for Christmas. Never had a generator before. Going to use it for camping and maybe some power tools. My question is when would you ground the unit.
You technically should always carry a wire and rod to ground the unit. Almost no one does but it's a safety feature. If the device you are using that's plugged into the unit were to short out and be exposed to you, without the unit grounded YOU become the path to ground for the electricity to travel and can be electrocuted. Obviously that takes a malfunctioning devices with something exposed. A copper rod and a piece of wire is cheap insurance and easy to carry with the generator.
I think you may have misunderstood what eco mode actually does. When eco mode is on it will allow the generator to idle down according to the load. If there is a small load it will idle down. When the load is increased even all the way up to rated capacity it will idle up to an rpm that is appropriate for the load. There is no difference in rated capacity when in eco mode, it just matches rpm to the load that is applied to it. When the load is decreased the rpms decrease along with the noise level ie quieter.
That's pretty much the way I understood it. However the manual clearly states don't run a load over 1200 watts on eco mode. So obviously it doesn't adjust all the way up or it can't handle the initial surge while idled down.
@@TKCL interesting... I've got a couple of inverter generators one harbor freight predator and one generac. Both of those brands don't put a lower limit on the eco mode. Maybe they are being conservative or possibly engineered completely different. I don't know.
My guess would it's idled so low a big surge wouldn't allow the engine to ramp in time to keep steady voltage?? That's just me speculating though.

My Honda 2000 generator I added a magnetic dip stick, 6 gallon gas container. Must for that magnetic dip stick . Over 2500 hrs on mine

We run the generator at nite for my Cpap. Runs everything at camp, water pump,lights, yard flood light,tv. Will run deep fryer but has to be on non eco mode.
I'd say you got your monies worth for sure.
I think the magnetic dip stick helped a lot. You wound not believe the filings in the oil. Still. Should be required on all small engines.

That's going vary wildy based on your room, insulation and outside temperature. Let's just say a very long time as that's less wattage than my fan was pulling.
Just wondering if this generator could be used to charge a solar generator when there are long periods of no sun? Seems like it would be efficient but I cant find much info on that.
I do that often with my solar system. Just make sure it doesn't pull more than 1900 watts. My systems are controlled by apps, I can set how much charging power I want going to my battery banks.
I’d be curious how the sine wave is hooked up to an oscilloscope. Some of the cheaper Chinese ones don’t have as clean of a sinewave.
I still swear by my Honda EU2200i.
My friend has one that he runs 4 hours a day for 3 years. Still running strong. Doubt any Chinese generators can do that.

Stupid question I guess but the gas generator has to be outside. How do you get the lines into the house. Through a door how do you seal the cracks. Also I guess you run extention cords to different appliances. Run tgd frig a while then the frezzer a while. Then a heater. Seems like it would be a screwd up mess.
That's typically the way you run small generators. I usually run a cord through a window. I can assure you that the mess does not matter when you are trying to save expensive food, run an AC, charge phones and more. My big generator runs to a plug I mounted on the house and feeds into the main panel. That keeps everything nice and clean, but requires a big 240 volt generator.
It will probably be even quieter outdoors on the ground

I'll need to check mine again, quite certain it has a closable top. If transporting in a closed vehicle I'd definitely close the vent.

Is the pull start fairly easy for someone without lots of arm strength?
It's very easy, nothing to it.
Just bought a brand new one and followed the instructions to a T. Can't get it to start.
Fuel turned on, choke out and eco mode on? Mine usually starts in two pulls. Make sure the vent on the gas cap is open as well, but that shouldn't matter for a quick start.
I have had problems with the alternator with power smarts generators all the engines still run just no power burnt coils
Alternator? You mean the charging device for a battery and electric start model? Or the generator portion?

I don't have a dog in this fight. All I know is when the power goes out I'm mad and I usually have power in the next 2 to 4 hours because I don't live in hurricane Alley
You never know here, could be hours or days.

As long as those appliances pull 1900 watts or less.

Andrew I have a 4600 watt Yamaha sold my enclosed Car trailer with Roof A/C and now I never use it.
That's a really nice unit, I haven't seen a Yamaha in forever.
The only difference between Eco mode and normal mode is in normal mode, the generator engine runs at full speed regardless of the load, in eco mode the engine slows down if the load doesn’t require full speed of the generator. Think of it like cruise control on a car. Eco mode only works on inverter generators because on a standard generator engine RPM determines the frequency, if you slow down the engine the frequency drops. Because inverter style generators generate DC then electronically convert it to AC both the voltage and the frequency can be adjusted electronically independent of engine speed. You should run it in Eco mode 99% of the time unless you have a long continuous load that never cycles off and on.
I absolutely will always run eco unless the load requires higher, should help the engine last longer too. Plus I love how quiet it is.

Not according to the manual, states don't run a load over 1200 watts in eco mode. That's most likely due to the low rpm of the motor and needing to quickly ramp up for a heavy surge.
@@TKCL i have a 4 kva inverter generator it has the same capacity both on Eco and Manual throttle control. I guarantee the maximum output current is the same in both modes.
Performs and the price is right. Buy or borrow a Honda eu2200 and compare. You will be amazed even more so than this one.
But at triple the cost? I'd have to be blown away 😉
The eco mode will give you “1900 watts”. Idea it it adjusts up the RPM according to load. Reason you want it off is for heavy motors starting that have the surge. It’ll already have the engine at RPM vs it having to catchup . Say you’re starting off on eco mode then use 1900 watts, it’ll run as if eco mode is off.
I highly doubt it can reliably do 1900 watts for a while with a 79cc engine. The Honda eu2200 has a 120cc engine and does 1800…
The manual states don't use eco mode with a load over 1200. Most likely due to the surge you described is my guess too. Highest witnessed continuous load during this test was over 1400 watts. I did not get to view it while the table saw was working, that might have been more??
@@TKCL I’m 100% that’s the reason. Getting from 0-1400 is quite the jolt and at low RPM there would be a delay.
Now say you’re running a 1400 heater, you can start that on eco off, then then eco mode on will drop the RPM’s a bit to match the load.
I’m certain they’re concerned about it not ramping up fast enough to catch the load with a 79cc engine. I’ve done 0-1500 on eco in my Honda eu2200i no problem, but it also has a 120cc engine
Why would anyone want to run a heater off a generator? Just buy a propane heater like a little buddy portable heater. I use this at my camp with the big propane tank adapted.
You do realize running a propane heater indoors is dangerous right? Ever heard of carbon monoxide? That's why they specifically make vented indoor propane heaters, running your outdoor buddy heater is asking for trouble if ran long enough. So yes it's actually quite common and safe in the event of a blizzard and cold snap knocking out power to run an electric heater in an emergency.
I'd suggest installing a carbon monoxide detector in your cabin it's cheap insurance and I bet you'll see it goes off.
@@TKCL well I only know of one death in all of River Ranch's history from carbon monoxide poisoning and that was a fire fighter that has his generator outside his camper but too close to his window unit a/c.
But yes, I always have a vent on the floor level and one up high open.
