Watched your video before making a buying decision.Went with the 8000 and and very happy.Noticed oil capacity listed at 1 x liter [36 ounces] so I added a few ounces at first fill. Thanks for the wonderful review.
As you added a full quart of oil I was wondering if the capacity was less than that. Glad it worked out..
I don't know what the Canadian code says, but I'm sure it's similar, but NEC (250.142) says neutral and ground are bonded in only one location (main service disconnect). Since you're using an interlock on the panel and not an ATS that disconnects neutral from the genset as well, the bond should be disconnected at the genset.
About the bonded neutral, i don’t think it’s such a big deal since at one point in the mains power service neutral gets bonded to ground
I would leave the neutral and ground bonded on the generator. It really doesn't hurt anything. And, some electronic gadgets will not work on unbonded generators. And, if you unbond the neutral and ground, it will prevent the circuit breaker from tripping for a ground fault. The bonded neutral and ground is what "tells" the circuit breaker that there's a ground fault. My humble opinion would be to leave it bonded.
Nice video
bonded is a very big problem and very easy to fix
A register boot and some 4 inch metal dryer exhaust duct should be adequate for the generator exhaust, if you haven't came up with something yet.
Now you need to build a remote op panel inside the garage so you can start it from inside. That is what I was going to do for mine. Never came up with anything definitive for the choke. I was trying to devise a plan involving an electric solenoid and linkage to actuate the choke. Maybe a power lock actuator from a car? I know you can come up with something.
You should try getting a mini split as it can heat and cool. In the US, you need a refrigerant license to install it but am not sure for canada.
Heat pumps are "iffy" in Canada. They're okay in Quebec where the electricity is super cheap. But they're not such a good idea in Ontario.
Quick idea, maybe run a exhaust duct, like the plymo vents at the fire stations. I do see you have a exhaust fan
You have a cute german Shepherd what is your dogs name and I really love your videos your channel is the best your are awsome
I have a Wolf 2300 generator 240 volts I had a neighbour got four for 120 pounds UK,and I paid 50 pounds, all what was wrong with it was hunting the feul pipe was quarter inch to long.
When I shut mine down I also turn of feul to keep the petrol from gelling up in carb, it's not electric start but when needed I can run a lawn mower and fridge freezer off it nice.
Could you share the dimensions of the box? Also, what are the dimensions of the assembled generator? Thanks for a great review!
The box is long gone so I'm not sure there is dimensions of the generator more precisely then I can give on Home Depot's website
Ok I just did some research and it appears that the "Energizer" brand generators in Canada are made by a firm called "Midland Power" (which also produces the Hyundai brand of generators) I think you are in good hands though as the reviews on this model are very positive. Interesting that the meter on the inside outlet is reading 123 AC when I was always under the impression that it was usually 115 at a household outlet. I guess 120 is the more typical max.
It's very common to see 120-125v now days, here in my house it's usually around 127v, which is slightly high
Im surprised it came with the battery. It was sold separately for my generator.
Keep up awesome content! :) how much money do you even have? Unlimited money?
Thanks Not unlimited but I sold the old one so I just needed another thousand
What were those alarms that went off during the filming I heard it once when you were showing the tools that came with it and then it went off one or two more times while you were hooking up the wheels etc
@@nics-systems-electric they go off over the weekend and summer break? I thought it was only my school that did that
look up generator break in you should have at least 2 oil changes before the 100 hour mark. then use only 5w30 full synthetic
i like your randomness filming in random locations good job keep up the work love the vids
Does anyone else own one of these or the new efi models? What is your feedback? I’m thinking of getting the new energizer ezv8500efi but can really find any info online. Thanks in advance!
if you want the plugs on the generator grounded you can use a neutral to ground bonding plug
after break in only use 5w30 full synthetic
Do you have any complaints? Do you plan on upgrading any time soon?
No problems. It's the best large inverter generator I could find especially for the price
2:17 if they make the best AA battery, i'd say they know what they are doing and it will be fine. however only time will tell. also. do you know French? and if so, continuer le bon travail
you should not run generators inside of living spaces (like your room) since they output a lot of co and running a gen inside a house where you live can kill you within minutes
So if you wanted to get backup power inside a living space its best to get a pure sine wave inverter with some 12v batteries or a portable power station
I recommend get automatic battery charger you never know battery dies middle of blackout
It re-charges the battery whenever it’s running and I start it for at least 10 minutes minimum once a week so I think it will be ok and if for some reason the battery dies I can still pull start it
Were you able to unbond the neutral in the end?
@@nics-systems-electric all the 30 AMP circuits are GFCI? If they are GFCI do we need any special transfer switch to connect to home. Do you recommend any transfer switch I can use to install it?
@@hariniveshdonepudi4647 not GFCI protected on the 30 amp and 50 amp plug I don't believe. panel interlock kits are usually the easiest to install
@@nics-systems-electric you need to remove bonding by code you can only have one bonded box
Batteries I meant
Holy crap... isn't gas prices just a freaking joke right now?
By the way... was school still in session at that elementary school at the time that this was filmed?
@@nics-systems-electric Ahhh okay, I asked because I thought I heard a school bell a couple times
Near me Gas is 1.70 to 1.80!
@@Random_Emergency_Light It’s good for 15 hours at 25% load usually I would be under that 25% load so I’m not exactly sure
@@nics-systems-electric 25:12 were do you find those? I been looking for one! But all online?
@@Random_Emergency_Light I’ve seen them on Amazon but someone just gave me this one
please dont add stabilizer just store dry. or at least turn off gas and run dry
@@nics-systems-electric just keep fresh gas in it that stuff really gums up your carb
Very likely this is a generator made by a brand that already makes generators. Companies will buy them and just throw their logos on them. You know, Energizer is a brand people know and trust so more people are likely to buy it over a lesser known brand. Marketing is fun that way 😂
Great call on getting a different generator, dirty/surging power can damage electronics, I would know 😅
Cool! Your a lot richer then I was when I was in Highschool!😂😂 energizer is good stuff imo!
