I know you don't do measurements yourself, but I'd really like to see some kind of measurements that support this theory of drastically changing bass and treble response dependent on amplification. Maybe if this headphone driver has some really odd stuff happening with its impedance curves but many, many amplifiers now have really low output impedance that shouldn't be interacting with that kind of thing.

Is there any considerable SOUND difference/improvement between mk1 and mk2 version? Or nothing to worry about if I got dt1770 pro 250 ohm just now, not knowing there is mk2 version coming? 250 ohm still better than 30ohm for the neutral sound?

Hello Mr. Valour 🙂 Quick question: Which tool or software do I need to tweak the sound of the headphone? Does it have 7.1 surround sound standardly or how do I turn it on? Can I activate sidetone somehow? Thank you 🙂
I really only need headphones for gaming & general music listening and there probably are better options for that use case out there, but I somehow just fell in love with the asthetics and quality of these studio headphones. I first tested the 770 X LE but couldn't really enjoy them, now I gave another chance to the 1770 Pro MKII and actually find these really fun to listen to - warm, very clear sound without the piercing highs. They could be a bit louder on PC tho, I might get an extra amp.

If your amplifier changes your frequency response you have a bad amplifier, so just get something with low output impedance, maybe a Topping L30 and you're set for life. And if you still want more or less treble just EQ it instead of chasing an load dependant amplifier that might maybe suit your preference on that particular headphone. Btw, where's the measurements? Reviews without them are quite useless tbh :)
Yeah, i find it weird that people don't EQ more tbh (maybe they do but for general listening if you don't EQ it's just odd to me). They're a bit sharp on the Macbook? Then use an EQ and tune it to your liking instead of wasting another $300 on an amp for minimal gains. Hell, i took a $100 pair of HyperX cloud2 "gaming" headphones, threw them through PeaceEQ on windows and did a side by side with a pair of og 1990's, had my family listen to a track side by side on both and to the untrained ear they could barely tell the difference. Can anyone help me understand how a haedphone is "amp-dependant"? What exactly makes a headphone, scientifically, more amp-dependant, or is this just your basic audiophile-BS-talk? What is Josh talking about, scientifically?
Try it out. There are some cases where an amp with a high output impedance can impact headphones in the frequency response slightly. It's more about preference but it is measurable. With that said in general none of these amps are really producing anything different. I don't think anyone has ever been able to blind test validate there is a difference.
Headphone impedance is measured at one frequency, usually at 1kHz, but the truth is not so simple and you need a curve at all frequencies. Together with the internal output impedance of the amplifier they basically make a different circuit playing every frequency. It makes it a form of equalizer. These curves are more or less curvy depending on the amp/headphone pairing. Because this EQ is random and non intentional, some amps randomly sound better some do worse
