    Awesome review, really liked watching it, thanks for the great feedback regarding our new DT 1990 PRO MKII 🔥 Just one thing: The DT 1990 PRO MKII has an impedance of 30 ohms (not 45 ohms), which means that the studio headphones can be used with a variety of end devices. Greetings from Germany 🎧

      @largefatherbassmusic 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

      tbh we want more high impedance headphones, none of that sub 80 ohm stuff. pls we want high fidelity, people who are buying these arent buying them for their cell phones, we're buying them for our high end amps

      Please Beyerdynamic an Edition version(like the classic one) with less clamping force would be really great. For me 6,0N is way too much. 4N like the Amiron Home would be fine(I love my DT 880 Edition with heavenly 2,8N).

    • @halleberry123
      @halleberry123 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +19

      @@largefatherbassmusic you dont know a thing about engineering, do you? High ohm headphones were mainly used in the past, because engineering didn't have any other option than doing so putting all tech into headphones. Nowadays ohm doesn't say anything about the actual hifi performance of a headphone!

    • @halleberry123
      @halleberry123 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Your MK2 version should have had less clamp force (around 3N) and shorter cables for gaming and working sessions at the computer. Just adding the Amiron acoustic pads and calling it MK2 won't make the cut these days.

    • @oktober-r8i
      @oktober-r8i 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@halleberry123 Not at all. According to the data sheet, the MK2 has a clamping force of 6.0N (+-0.5). Even the DT 900 pro x has 5.3N. Simply too much for me if you are used to 2.8.

    • @camoturtle18
      @camoturtle18 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      The only thing I’ll say in favor of the new design (which seems to be growing on me more) is that it seems like more of the design is open, so I wonder if that has any noticeable effect on soundstage. Although the tuning of the new one is less bright it seems, which might make soundstage perceived as less impressive as the OG, I wonder if the more open design can help combat that and if the staging on the new one is better or at least the same as the OG.

    I received my DT 1990 PRO 2nd generation today and can also confirm that the headphones sound better than V1, especially since the piercing high frequency profile has finally been smoothed out. Let's see if the sound changes over time.

      The lower impedance doesn't mean worse quality right? (Sorry I'm new into this stuff)

    • @mysentl24ep54
      @mysentl24ep54 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@PeanutByte0 no it doesn't. It only means worse quality for someone who use high power amps on them, in this case it doesn't suite super hi fi dac/amps stuff. This is the only case where it is bad, however even super hi fi dac/amps aren''t justified in their price honestly, lots of cheaper stuff with amazing level. All other (imo) is audiophile cope, similar to high price cables and stuff
      so in this case with low Ohms and dynamic driver you can comfortable use it with any device - phone, PC without dac/amps and so on

    I do have a question though! Do you think my SSL 2+ is good enough to run these or what would you recommend? (I’m coming from a pair of Bose ultra comforts and Senn game zeros with a sound blaster zX) I do some music recording, mixing and light gaming. If you could point me in the right direction that would be great.

    Seems like they now use similiar foam disks (with the bump in the middle) as they do on the Amiron Wireless. Many DT1990 users (myself included) already swapped the original foam disks for those to tame the treble to great effect.

      I have Hifiman Ananda and OG 1990 and worth knowing that hifiman leak masses of audio, so much that I can't use the hifiman when other people are in the house because they hear it from nearby rooms. The 1990s are far from silent, they are open back after all, but the hifiman are way worse, even though I personally prefer the hifiman sound. The Beyers are beautifully built and they feel like they are very expensive, much more so than the hifiman. Still, everytime the house is empty I reach straight for the hifiman, so that probably says enough.

    Could the 8 khz issues you experienced with the Mk1 be due to the WA7 DAC you appeared to be testing them with in that video?

    • @Jezza-m5k
      @Jezza-m5k 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The 1990 MK1 sounds superb and the "problem" with the treble is mostly a result of people using inferior hi-fi equipment. There is a lot of expensive tat on sale nowadays that is superficially impressive, but is designed and engineered by no-name hi-fi companies who put style before substance. It is very much the same with headphones. Once they realized there was a market for overpriced headphones many new companies emerged and delivered 'phones that were prohibitively expensive yet failed - and still fail! - to outperform the headphones of long-established companies who know what they are doing - Sennheiser and Beyerdynamic, for example.

    A DT 1990 review using only one set of pads is only half a review. Disappointing! I have the original 1990 and use it exclusively with the optional Analytical pads. The Balanced pads are more sibilant and the lower midrange is too plump. The original DT 1990/Analytical has cleaner highs and more extended lows than the HD 800S, at half the price. That's good value!

      Try the 1990 mk 2. The 490s are decent but I sold them because they’re kind of boring to listen to. 900 pro x are good if you’re a beginner audiophile.
      You could also look at the harmonic dyne zeus elite

      @ I actually have the 900 pro X, got them about 5 months ago. what is it that you mean by they are for a beginner audiophile? i’m wondering if i should try to sell them. at the time i bought them I just kept hearing they were the best competitive gaming headset, which is why i got them for my PC

      @@mariannygonzalez511 do you think it’s worth trying to sell the DT 900s for the 490 ? I have had them for 5 months so returning isn’t an option

    • @TreSwayy
      @TreSwayy 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@GOilers97 I personally don’t prefer the 490s over the 900 pro x. But they do have a larger soundstage, and more precise imaging, but the tonality I’m not a fan of, even with velour pads as far the fun factor. I know they’re studio headphones but so are the 900 pro x.
      They perform good enough for competitive gaming, but I’d look for something better like the Arya organic or he1000se. The 490s are very similar to 560s.
      But maybe you might like them, look at their frequency graphs to see if that’s a tuning you’d like.

    I have had several Beyer headphones, the 770, the t1, the t70, the t5, and a couple more. I would be very reluctant to buy another. There is always something that really annoys me after a while. The 770 clamps to hard. The t5 is awful. The t1 is fatiguing. The t70 cable feels 100 feet long and can’t be changed. It’s made me wary of Beyer.

    Doesn't look or sound like an upgrade to me and every time they use those new acoustic discs over the drivers on their other headphones they just sound dull and over damped. Beyer is meant to be all about that treble clarity.

    Well, I find amazing. Is people who choose Sennheiser 600 and 479 over these or hifiman. They feel like absolute trash like a wish version. I couldn’t believe how garbage they sounded too compared to a lot of other headphones. The clamp force was so painful I thought it was comedic. Anyways That being said thanks for the review, beyers are awesome for gaming and sound classic.

    Looks like beyerdynamic is going "soft" with this new approach☹. I'm gonna stick with the original DT1990 Pro. Sound is clean, detailed, with great sound stage, and they do not sound warm. I've even got 2 pairs. They are that good for me. They should fix the T1 3rd Gen, Its a warm dull mess.

  • @Ryu_Yin

    To be honest. I don't like the new Grille design of the Mk2. It looks worse to me. More boring, and bland, copying some of the other headphone grilles, what's worse, it's almost an exact copy of the DT 990 Pro, and a bit of 900 Pro X grille (but gray), and I own both the DT 990 Pro and 900 Pro X. I can't justify the grille look when it resemble too much of a headphone of the same family, that I already own, making it extremely hard to differentiate the two. The MK1 grille was very unique, and bold, with a much more interesting and dynamic pattern...one of a kind. I noticed the MK2 has more cut outs, which means more openness right? However, they remains to be tested, but I figure it might be a tiny bit more airy than MK1. All in all, not a fan of the new grille design.
