When I fly US planes, I (more often than not) am with my Swiss wingman. What you've said is true: We don't take our own planes as seriously as the rest of the world. I really appreciate your videos. I'm going to give the jug a concerted effort this weekend. This was step one in the research phase. Thanks again for your content.
I’ve been trying to grind out jets, I’ve been trying to find success with the F7F and the P51-H-5 as more than just bomber hunters/bnz machines because I’ve seen people use them as great energy fighters against Ta-151H and late Spits
Fundamentally you should be able to watch at least the P-51C video (th-cam.com/video/uv1pvxRQ8k4/w-d-xo.html) for a primer on the P-51H. Get fast and stay fast and the P-51H is crazy good. F7F is a bit more tricky as I haven't played it in a bit and when I did play it I used it to hunt Ju-288s 😂😂
IMHO, that's the problem with most of the us props. They are great at boom and zooming, when you have the altitude advantage. But when yoy have this kind of advantage, your plane doesn't have to be good at b&z to kill the opponent. You can do pretty much the same in a zero or a spitfire, and still kill your target. But when it comes to fighting an opponent with roughly the same energy or outclimbing a competent pilot, us planes usually fall short. And that's the trait I'd rather have, because killing incompetent low flyers is easy anyways
American planes are FAST, if they’re not faster they usually turn better than what’s faster than them. Something like a p47 caught in the same altitude just needs to climb a bit or dive a bit and run (if you’re both level they’re closing and you can get up to 5km do that cause above that you’re the fastest thing until 5.7) you have the speed. P51s keep more energy than 109s and spits so they are better at BNZ. Really the strength of the US is top cover, they all have big turbos and superchargers for that high air where most planes don’t.
no spitfire, even the late war ones, or zero is catching you if you play right. you can go for repeated bnz attempts until they're dead and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it, including run away.
@theperson5185 fast they are, I give then credit for that. But from my experience, high horizontal/dive speed isn't the most important trait. Climb rate, on the opposite, is very important when fighting against a descent pilot/team. A spitfire/109/yak will be higher than any us fighter by the time of the encounter (unless that's an us fighter with an airspawn, those ones are scary) if he'd want to. And by this point us pilot in wt has only two options: take head-on and either dive away, giving the high-alt superiority to the enemy, or fly away in a straight line, which takes a lot of time and still doesn't change the situation, your enemy is still higher. And to get enough high-alt performance to actually dogfight a co-alt bandit in an us fighter, you have to be at around 7km, which never happens in arb. Energy retention is also a nice trait to have, but if you are 1.5 km higher than your enemy, you already own the situation, and can b&z and kill him even in an i16. Of course, nowadays, most of arb prop pilots are plainly incompetent, and us props work fine, but that's not because they are good for wt situations
@jal-kx6tm problem is, when they do have some brain and climb, outclimbing any us prop which doesn't have an air spawn. That's when you become the runner. Sure, they won't catch you because of your speed, but you will be on the receiving end the whole match and won't be able to win the fight. Sadly, most pilots in arb nowadays are idiots who give the enemy all the opportunities to b&z them into the ground
P47 and p51 players are an untapped source of views. 90% of the players don’t know how to fly it and and the 10% that do, are the best players in any match. So many people want to learn how to fly these planes and it’s hard especially when you are stuck on cursed teams and by the time you start your dive you are in a 1v8.
Ill take a team of p47's or p51's over anything else in the game .. I think I have a 5/1 kd in all of the p47's and its a masterful dance .. with a beautiful plane .. if people didnt play or dont remember when the german and russian p47's got an air spawn they were absolute terrors
That last energy trap, if you were flying something like the yak1b, you will kill him with that maneuver. I don’t really think this thing is competitive at this br.
I’m conflicted. I agree that something less heavy might have pulled off that trap but it was a good shot either way. I also think that the P-47 is VERY competitive at 3.7 and below… but it mostly sees at least 4.0~4.3 because of the huge number of popular props in that range. And some of those props are very very good. So it takes some work but it’s still a very solid performer if played right.
Which low-mid tier prop should I play next for this type of vid?
If you haven't flown it lately you should give a Ki-44 a spin, they are kinda busted ATM.
f4u4-b please
Can you start streaming please
Yak 3
VL Pymoremorsky ( I think that's how it's spelt) Or the Spitfire Mark IXc
great vid, more of these kinds of vids. I appreciate you covering this aircraft, people don't really talk about P-47's in Air RB
Because it’s not meta and kinda trash.
@@wongarnold2879 it requires patience but then it slaps, nothing catches it above 4.5km it goes the fastest in a dive and retains like all it’s energy
@ when you get to that altitude, your team is basically dead. Enjoy 1 v the entire enemy team.
@ not really I usually find success

Glad to help! 🙏

@ I yeah I love hunting them in the F7F, the P51-H-5 just has to deal with early jets which can a lot of times be an absolute pain
do about corsairs please
make a video on the p-51d mustang plz

Pro tip: Don't
It’s all I have
😭
Sounds like a skill issue
Dude, I just got it, and played my first mission.
Got 5 kills in it with no upgrades.

I've gotten multiple aces with the p47 razorback it is DEFINITELY competitive at 3.7
