If you want to set enemies on fire, use the tracers belt, that's the advantage of this plane, that it has access to late M2 ammunition. API-T: M20 Armor-piercing incendiary tracer bullet is all you need. Tracers should be the best choice.

i need to play with mouse aim more. i’ve gotten so used to just abusing full real controls, that i forgot how to dogfight normally.

it def helps when trying to apply your tactics. speed and alt have so much to do with getting position and staying alive.

When you unlock jets it will become even more important, since the speeds involved make the window for a shot much much shorter :)

Well played. I personally spam flaps a lot more on the P-38 😅 They're way too effective for me not to abuse them...

A lot of the pilots you played against were flying P-39N. That plane is great for the BR, and they could have easily killed you.

The problem is you're trying to fly a P-40. The P-40 is probably the worst plane in the game. It is worse at nearly everything than every other plane at its BR. Heavy, weak engine, rudder locks up at high speed, slow turn rate, low climb rate, high stall speed, bad high alt performance... It's got six .50 cals, which is good armament, but you're only going to be able to use it on ground targets. Every P-40 needs a BR reduction. Do yourself a favour and play the F4U-1A corsair for a much better experience at that BR.

Shit I never use zoom in. That’s an easy shot to make I think once you get used to it. It starts getting difficult for me around 700m unzoomed, but def give it a try. You’ll get better with it because you have more situational awareness

The 1B (German one is copy paste so they are the same) is the best of the 3.0 Yaks and completely outclasses the P-40F. The 1B's top speed is slightly slower than the P-40F's at relevant alts (maybe 10kmh at most) on paper but faster in practice because the P-40F needs a lot of or full rads and the 1B doesn't. Add on top of that the fact that the 1B is much better in climb and turn and the P-40s literally don't have a performance option. Redline is 680ish kmh, just like all wood wing Yaks, and compression doesn't really start to be a problem until around 630kmh. The 1B could be 3.7 and largely not care that much until it saw Mk.V and IX Spits. The 9, 9B and 7B are 3.3s and the Yak-1 is at least 2.7, maybe 3.0. Below 2km the 1 is faster than the 109Es. The 109Es will win in a vertical fight. At low/med alts the first two 109Es (the E-1 and E-4) and Yak-1 are fairly close. Also I'd argue the P-40E and F aren't better than 2.3s at the moment. A majority of 3.0-3.3 fighters just club them hard at the moment. As for going head on with Yaks and Las? If you are familiar with the guns and make sure you go into head ons with speed so you can evade they are great in head ons because the guns are centrally mounted and have good velocity. My advice in regards to the lack of ammo in Yaks? Shoot the MGs and cannon separately when you can. Soviet 12.7s and 20s are both quite strong in game as of typing this. Separating them when possible can add quite a bit of firing time with not a technically significant loss in firepower. One last note for those not familiar. Yak flaps are one of the few flaps in game that do not ever increase turn time (Spits are one of the others) so never use them outside of landing, as a makeshift airbrake to keep you slow or for low speed control. I've seen a number of Yak players deploy flaps in low speed turns trying to increase their turn time. It doesn't work.

My favorite Yak. Beautiful, quick (for a 3.0), great armament (that Berezin UBS is insane...), and it's even more agile than a Yak-3.

The Yak-1B is my number 1 pick for most broken plane in the game. Long may it last.

More youtubers need to fly out the low tier stuff for the newer players .. They seem 2 get lost in the sauce of high tier jets .. If im bored with the game ill go into low tier ive got several lvl 10 or so on my fl that ill fly out with and they are slowly but surely getting better and better

In my opinion, only cowards play like this in a squad rolling like 4 deep. Im sure its fun as hell to be coordinated and organized and dominate a lobby, but in random battles, the vast majority of players are going to be alone. Though its mostly the snail's fault. Squad gameplay should 100% be its own specific, seperate game mode where squads play against each other exclusively. But in random battles, this is a massively unfair advantage. And the people who do this are mostly cowards in my estimation. I would love to experience playing in a squad like this against other squads though.
