About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

Only Beck can pull a harmonica out of thin air.
Keon Fernandes: I think he's got a hole in his wrist where harmonicas pop-out like Pez candies out of their dispensers!
Yes!!!!!
He would love his own no-style style he managed to pull off
He pulls it out of Justin's hair
The ending was the best thing I've ever seen on TH-cam.
Agreed. These fine, young musicians are in rare form.
You’re the best thing I’ve ever seen on TH-cam, mate, if anyone is…
Biblical
People lose their minds over Phoebe Bridgers smashing one guitar after a performance, meanwhile two decades ago Beck is hiring people to make out with each other with animal masks on and spin a turntable with a trombone lmao
Those drums are amazing. Beck's drummer was fantastic
+DiamorphineDeath Its a break beat. Bernard Purdie "Soul Drums"
Almost as good as his bass played ( sex laws for example )
@@fairweatherfriends. but why he (basa Man) left the band?
@@torrapa not sure but he is a well known and well used studio musician. Like... he plays with a lot of famous people to the best of my recollection. So I don’t think he was ever just Beck’s bassist. Also becks music changed a lot. Got less funky.
@@fairweatherfriends. Yep, u are right. Did you saw Beck band's in Colors Tour? Sounds really amazing. Dwayne Moore is the new bassist.
If I said once, I've said a thousand times.... Beck is a musical genius.
How do I give this thing a gazillion thumbs up!!?!
My favorite Beck hairdo. Rockin' the Rachel.
This live version is better than the album version
Thanks for preserving that ensemble like it was only yesterday. If anyone needs a reminder 😉dudes were captivatingly fun
the image of Beck crying at the end with all these tambourines around him... fuckin epic, "I'm a pop god, you all die haha"
Can't believe this was in 1999. Their fashion wouldn't look out of place in 2023
Beck is simply amazing. I always wonder what the criteria for being his tour musicians other than 1) having to dress extremely weird 2) having unique names (like Smokey) on Morning Phase and 3) being extremely eccentric.
Eddie Hodkinson ive always wondered why he always has a different band. I guess you cant get the same people to tour year after year
Actually...they are all Scientologists. If you are a member of Scientology you cannot work with anybody else. Back has been clear that he is a Scientologist. What he's doing is rotating people so that they can have credit with being with Beck. The way all pyramid groups work is that those above must help those below in order to go ahead and increase the power of the entire group. There, now you know.
Also, the reason why they are wearing capes is to show that they are actually magicians. Laugh at me and I'll pity you for not knowing reality. It's all around us.
I've seen him in Madrid in his "Midnite Vultures" tour and the band was almost the same that it was here, and man, this concert was amazing. Such good musicians with such a punk attitude, I loved it. I wish Beck was more rock these days.
In my next lifetime, I want to be the bass player that screams into the microphone. YEAH BABY!
I'm sure Frank Zappa would have liked Beck
Miguel Baptista obviamente :)
Miguel Baptista--wow never thought about that he probably would have loved and or appreciated Beck's music especially his lyrics. Fucking good insight. Sometimes I say to myself, I say what the fuck is this guy talking about but it's fucking brilliant. All the way back from his first hit loser. Listen to those lyrics fucking genius. It's a brilliant play on words tricky crafty.
Like? More like LOVED! This guys is genius as well as his fellow musicians.
I'm sure he would liked your mama.
What about Beefheart? Beck reminds me more of him than Zappa lol
....that was like a replay of my daughters wedding function at the end 😱😳
Why this Is nota the best video of TH-cam?
The ending looks like a trailer for the new season of the Eric Andre Show
This performance should be the official video... It matches with the devil and the hell.... 🤯
this proves the Gary Wilson influence on Beck. We used to end our sets with Gary when we were overseas similar to this. But he always wanted us to do his traditional "pile up" where we just piled on top of each other and screamed in pain.
I still remember the first time I saw this on a TV show, just a snatch of the video, and I bought the album on impulse. It's still I think the only time I have done that and just LOVED the first four tracks from the first listen (Novacaine was a grower). I think Odelay was one of the biggest influences on me when I first started writing music. People talk about the mixing of genres, but I think what makes Beck different is it felt natural and organic, and for other artists, it's a very liberating idea when you feel that commercial permission to be eclectic.
Thats the real trick to entertain so whilst being that musically rich and organic. The comedy; the energy all the facets of youthful vigour at once I think that’s why this ridiculous brilliant band became most enduring memory in making me feel most alive at festivals. So much going on they were sensory overload, pure fun
It can never get weird enough for me. Too mellow.
Have you heard The Armed
1st time watcher, long time listener. 2 words,..."A Mazing!".
This is the Best thing ever.
This is the "beck" that marissa ribisi fell in love with! Rock n fkn rollllll beck bring back this VIBE💖💖💖
He divorced her in the past year (or at least it became public knowledge in the past year).
Screech looks awesome playing that bass!
2023 e EU ouvindo música de psicopata....
Adoro a história do Beck e as suas performances....
Isso é um clássico atemporal....
Brasílis Terrae.....
Let’s be honest, the bassist steals the show.
Sure, crazy face🙃🙃🙃🙃
Justin was one particularly unique freak 😂
JMJ is a fucking legend!
I seen them in 97 supporting the Verve and the bass player stuck in my head then, Brilliant.
Love The Mic Jagger Strut
The end of this should be one of those “send this to your crush with no context”
2021 in a live music video.
Excellent.
Went full Sonic Youth at the end, hell yeah!
Pure rock'n'roll ! love that !
15 years ago today god bless beck
Love this! Beck is so beautiful sounding live!
Beck is god
He's so fucking rad.
And he played Looser at Austin City Limits and I said there is only one song the tops all off them and that’s Devils Haircut, now I won’t be able to
Get that fucking tune out of my head ! Beck is awesome!

Genius.
That sound at the end. It's what you hear when you have a panic attack
Whoa...Rave Daddy makes his appearance....*and we have lift-off at **3:17**"..as dope effect reaches critical mass*
Kay..it's down to the last few minutes now..several band members are passed out...Meanwhile..Beck is staggering around the stage...adorning himself with tambourines and a metaphorical hard-on ...- priceless...painfully cute..have to get a pic of this...
Awesome
they looks so stoned!!
