Auto tune didn't exist back then. Pure 100% talent.
People have no idea what autotune even is. It's just an excuse people use when they don't like a singer. Autotune is just a digital pitch shifter, nothing more. Yes, they had autotune back then. They have been using pitch shifting and Harmonizers since the 1940's. Only difference today is it's digital and not analog and is able to be used real time, not just post production. Ever hear Alvin and the Chipmunks? That's a cranked up pitch shifter, Auto tune.
Phil Collin’s: “ I’m a drummer who sings a little. “
This was back when performers could SING!
Yes its his voice..it's a live concert Hun...his voice is epic...Phil is king
No autotune, thank God. Just the true talent.
This is way before autotune...when artists actually had talent and their live performances were amazing. He was a drummer to start, then became lead singer for Genesis after Peter Gabriel left eventually having his own solo career. That is his voice for real.
Phil Collins dominated the music charts during the 1980s and 90, both as a solo artist and with the band Genesis. He had hit after hit and sold more than 150 million reccords worldwide. Some of his best include: Against All Odds, Easy Lover, One More Night, Two Hearts, Another Day in Paradise, You'll be In My Heart, and Do They Know its Christmas. He was also a philanthropist and raised a ton of money for good causes. And yes, he was singing live on all his songs.
He is one of only three people on the planet who have sold 150 million albums as a solo artist and another 150 million albums as a member of Genesis
And he can also play drums!!
😜
And an excellent actor!
Phil is a Legend. One of the best Singer/ songwriters ever! Massive amount of hits.
@@anway1953 good point! Phil is/was also one of the best drummers to ever pick up a pair of sticks…his son, Nick, is just as great, if not better…👍
One of the most iconic songs to ever exist in my opinion. Sadly he has a neurological disorder and can no longer perform. We truly did have the best decade of music.
One of the best, but I am partial to the 1970's
The most epic drum fill EVER! Phil is a legend.
Awe man!! Phil is a drummer that also sings!! You've got to hear I Don't Care Anymore!!
That's what I said, I don't care anymore! I said, when I get pissed, that's my go to song to blast!❤
I listened to that (along with a few other songs) many many many times during and after my divorce. I love that song and the attitude it brings!
Great reaction to an amazing musician and song! All live and NO autotune!!! 🎼❤️
wow, this was actually something i’ve never seen before. i knew he was amazing but damn, what a performance. great reaction too, nat. looks like it almost got you misty-eyed there at the end. me too. 🖤
You need to check out others because you can't even see the screen. His name is huge rate in the middle of it.The big point is to see it because it's amazing and it's blocked off or I hate it when somebody they cut it off right before him doing that or in the middle of it it sucks
Phil Collins is the King 👑!!! Go listen to all his music u will love it
100% natural talent!
That's called pure talent...the drumkit was hidden and rose up just as he was getting to the top. You'll hear the audience react when the drums pop up because they know what's coming
Don't apologize for being late, new fans of Phil are always welcome to the party!! If you want more solo hits from him, I recommend "Another Day In Paradise", "Sussudio", "Against All Odds", "I Wish It Would Rain Down", "Both Sides Of The Story", for starters. Phil was also a member of the popular rock band Genesis, he joined as the drummer, then became their lead singer as well and they had several hits in tandem with his solo career. To check out his work with Genesis, I suggest "Mama", "No Son Of Mine", "Home By The Sea", "In Too Deep", "Hold On My Heart" for some of their radio hits. They also had some fan-favorite songs back in the 70s when Peter Gabriel was the lead singer: "Carpet Crawlers", "I Know What I Like", " The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway", "Watcher Of The Skies", and "Counting Out TIme" should prepare you for their longer tracks! Great reaction!
The dude live is incredible. Yes, his voice. Great breath support cuz he knows what he is doing. NO autotune. Swag. Authentic swag! GOAT!
Baby he sounds like this for real. I seen him live anyone can tell you back in Phil's day when we came up. There was no autotune. That's Phil's voice. Been listening to Phil like a lot of others since the 70s. Babe these people had real singing ability and had pure talent!
By far the best version of a song sung live I have ever heard.
Easy Lover with Philip Bailey is an amazing song and there aren’t many reactions to it. All of Phil’s songs are amazing.
I just love to see new people watch Phil perform this for the first time, you never expect the drum solo! He is a true philanthropist at every show he has buckets passed around to collect money, which is then used to help and support homeless citizens. You should check out 'Another Day in Paradise', fabulous song even better message. Peace and love brother!
Phil is a legend. He started with a band called Genesis. He is a great singer / songwriter xx
The best live EVER No autotune etc 😂 100% REAL PURE TALENT
Phil is so good live! You definitely should check out some of his live Genesis performances. One of my favorite of his solo ones is -I Don’t Care Anymore - live at Perkins Palace. It’s a song that resulted from his divorce just like this one and Angry Phil is the best!!
Absolutely no auto-tune used!
Why do you think we were telling you that you had to see it. This is before auto tune. Just an amazing performance. I love your reactions. We had the best music in the 1980s. There is a large rabbit hole you are about to enjoy. Not to mention his hits as the lead singer of Genesis.
Original studio recording 1981, this live performance 23 years later. Voice is awesome, drums are awesome. Love my Phil. Thanks for the reaction. Cheers.
Not only a legend in his music career, but also a damn great actor in the movies he was in.
The best "Revenge " song in my playlist and only Phill could put all the rage into a set of drums like that!
LOL Bless your heart! WELCOME TO PHIL COLLINS. 😃😅
Also listen to Phil Collins I don't care anymore! When I get pissed, that's my go to song! He is simply amazing ❤
Phil is an absolute legendary icon! Don’t need auto tune THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! Loved him for decades and he doesn’t have even one bad song in his whole catalog of tunes! This is the baddest divorce song in history! So heads up NEVER piss ol’ Phil off cuz he’ll drag your ass all over the world!😂 Seriously tho back in the 80’s when this song came out WE ALL PLAYED AIR DRUMS RIGHT ALONG WITH THIS SONG! U gotta admit this might be the most beautiful, mesmerizing, iconic live performance EVER! Change of subject - check out AC/DC Thunderstruck Live at River Plate! U won’t be disappointed! One more badass live performance!
As Phil Collins once said, I'm a drummer that can sing a Little." He is a Legend now and forever.
Also, people in the audience when he sits on the drums: " I've been waiting for this moment all my Life." Everyone knew what was coming such a Legendary performance.
If you were there at that moment you're probably still hyped about it.
He doesn’t use auto tune, he is what you actually call a rieal singer/song writer, he’s a legend
All I could think was “he has no idea what’s coming “ 😳🥁
Phil is definitely one of a kind. His talent is in a world of its own. I’m so grateful to have grown up listening to his music. He went from a drummer of Genesis to its lead singer before he went solo. He also did the entire soundtrack for the Disney movie Tarzan as well as songs on other soundtracks.
Yes, this was the best live performance you've ever heard. It's the best live performance anyone has ever heard! Your reaction was great -- it's always fun watching a Tarzan virgin as they get hit by his drum drop.
BTW, no autotune, though a couple of times a vocoder was applied in real time to sort of double-up his voice.
No auto tuned the best music never was.
Check out this whole concert! One of the best live shows I've ever seen! Phil is a master and commands the stage like no one else and he's got some great great songs! Ballads, dance songs, everything! You'll get a real idea of who he is as an artist. In the Air Tonight is of course "the song" but he has so many others...
Ohhhh you watching Phil???, ohhh baby automatic like from me!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤enjoy!!!
Fun reaction! Nothing beats the live version of this song!
Saw this live many years ago. As he was doing the buildup, his drum kit is rising up out of the stage, until he sits down and plays that drop that you see, very cool.
You're so lucky!!!
5:41 Yes!That's his voice...❤
A Legend and Master at work! Phil is a world class drummer with an outstanding voice. A true musical ICON. I am the only 1 who gets massive chills at the drum drop? Phil and this song are IMMORTAL one of the greatest performance ever given.
Pure raw talent! Phil Collins Against All Odds
Imagine being a teen in the 😢car with a bunch of friends & hearing this song for the 1st time. Epic
Great reaction! You are wise beyond your years!❤
Thank you!
Gotta check out his live verson of take me home great performance.
Oh you didn’t know? Your ass betta call somebodyyyyy! That beat drop with the drums when he sits down is iconic with a capital i. Some people were made to make music. He is one of those people! This song is an absolute banger. One of his many many bangers.
Great reaction to Phil
That is his real voice! No auto just pure, raw talent. When he gets on the drums, and he is singing at the same time it is most difficult at best. He does it with ease. He is an icon! Love your reaction!
I saw Phil Collins concert in the 80s. It’s funny to hear you say the voice doesn’t seem to match him. I’ve never really thought about it, because I’m very familiar with his voice, so it seems appropriate to me it sounds exactly as it should 🤷🏻♀️😂
His Mum was a Theatrical Agent and was in "Oliver Twist" at a young age on Stage,
I saw his original Group: Genesis play their first ever Top Of The Bill show in August 1972 in Croydon, South East London:, with 3,000 others.
I love people’s reactions to Phil’s drum solo!! 😂🔥 We love Phil Collins in our house. 🫶🏼
We can see a classic scene with this song, on the first episode of TV show "Miami Vice" (in 1984)
Another "mustsee" great song, another great video from Phil here on YT: Take me home - live 🙂✌
WE LOVE PHIL COLLINS, then now always.
All of Phil's lives are amazing 😊
If you enjoyed this, you really MUST watch Phil Collins, live at Knebworth 1990, singing Mama. It is just awesome. It has to be this live version as you get maximum effect of the bass, lead guitar, drums, keyboards and, of course, Phil Collins amazing vocals. Also; take a look at the audience; it's huge.
Great reaction young fulla.
From Australia.
You clearly appreciate an amazing performance when you see it.
Thank you!
FINALLY!!! 🎵🎼🎶😉😉😉 And you didn't need to put the name across the screen!!!😉😉 Please go react to Phil Collins when he was singing with Genesis....the song "Mama" will blow your mind. I promise!!🤘🤘🤘
Phil is a damn legend. I remember when I was 5 years old having Phil Colins tape (I just found it at home randomly, probably my moms or grandmoms) and a walkman, walking around listening to it. I didn't understand a single word of english at that time, (not my first language) but I freaking loved it. Played it until the tape broke 😂
You should check out "Susudio" by him next 🤘
פיל קולינס האחד והיחיד.ביצוע מהמם.❤❤❤❤❤אהבתי את התגובה שלך🫶🫶🫶🫶🤘🤘🤘🤘
Phil is a drummer who happens to sing. 😅 He's one of the greats, no question. Check out his songs "Another Day In Paradise" and "Easy Lover".
For some epic god-tier live performances, check out Kasey Chambers - Lose Yourself (Eminem Cover) and Matt Corby - Trick of the Light (Live on The Resolution Tour)
Its live! He sounds like this. Hes iconic. I think alot of best true artists were before auto tune
Phil Collins with the song "In The Air Tonight" makes various perceptions for singers and drummers become Mind Blowing. The question for the 2 band positions, both Singer and Drummer, is "How is it possible that Phil can sing while hitting the drums with precision and the right intonation? Phil Collins makes everything possible. Even the two positions he plays at the same time should make us very breathless. I I have to say he really deserves a very big round of applause from the singers and drummers because he is probably the only famous musician who can do both tasks in this song
Absolutely no autotune, that's his real voice. This was in 2003, before there was atotune. Musical genius. One of the best drummer that's ever lived. This was his retirement tour.
A true legend! Great reaction, thanks!
Pure 100% Phil! I've seen him live.
Check out Mama from Genesis, Phil is the lead singer. Shocker!
He never ever lip syncs
No auto tune. Thats him. He's british and a LEGEND. And this is a farewell tour. Hes older there.
He was and still is exceptional.
THERE WAS NO AUTO TUNE BACK IN THE 80S AND WAS 90S, YOU HAD TO HAVE TALENT!!!🥰🥰🥰
Bone thugs and Phil Collin’s collab is the OG of crossovers
Yep, he's going to play that, great reaction.
Nat, Thanks so much. Loved your pure reaction. Like you I think it's tge vest live performance I've ever seen.
Be well
He is the Best!!!!
Great drummer, songwriter, singer, performer...
Phil Collins started as the drummer for Genesis. I'd check out MAMA from them. A must experience is the song " I Wish it Would Rain Down", not the official video, too distracting from vocal performance. Just the album cover with his face and titled "But Seriously". You will be blown away!
Going to a solo Phil concert or Genesis, you were guaranteed an experience of light and sound. They made it seem effortless and the songs sounded even better than the records.
one of the best drummers who will ever live, he could play a 13/8 beat oh and sing along with the best
Check out "I don't Care Anymore" again live version. I loved his and Genisis music.
Phil Collins is HIM. He absolutely popped off when he did the soundtrack for the animated Tarzan movie, too
Phil and his drummer, Chester Thompson, did drum duets back in the day…and were amazing to watch…check them out on TH-cam from like 1983,84,87, etc…👍🥁
One of my top ten of all time.
Phil is The GOAT
Against All Odds is a Must listen
Also, Check out Phil singing in Genesis
Thats All
I Don't Care Anymore
Thanks for the really nice reaction.
If you wanna go on check out Phil Collins voice... there are many great performances. For me one of the greatest songs he sang is a bit creepy and with some weird art-elements and was published together with the band he was part even before he started his additional solo career.
Band name: Genesis.
Song: Mama
Check out the life performance 1990 in Knebworth.
Anyway - thanks a lot and wish you all the best for your channel and your whole life.
The whole Disney Tarzan soundtrack is him and goes way harder than necessary 😄
But also check the Miami Vice scene this debuted with. Ice Cold.
He never wants to be a singer but when the lead singer quit the band that he was In they needed to find a new lead singer and he thought that he would try out and everyone like his voice so he became the lead singer of the band GENISIS.
This was my first time watching one of your reactions~ I found you because I search for new reactions FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I've heard this song and watched the live performance many hundreds of times (I'm an old white lady, lol!), and I've seen dozens of "reactions" to the video. I have to say, I hit the "like" button and "subscribed" to your channel less than half-way through the song (which I NEVER do) because you "got it" right away!! You recognized the brilliance of Phil's performance and the quality of his voice for what it was. And yeah, he really DID sing that LIVE. Going up and down stairs, across a huge set, AND through his drum climax, his voice never lost its power or pitch. I've seen this "critiqued" by both vocal and drum professionals who are in awe of what he did up there~ the difficulty of sustaining the vocals through all that are hard to overstate. Anyway, Nat~ enjoy the Phil Collins deep dive because he's got other gems in his portfolio!! And I'll keep checking you out!! And thank you to Phil for the goosebumps, again!!! Peace ❤
Thank you 🙏🏽
@@NatReacts_ You are awesome~ as far as I can tell, not many "reactors" actually read our comments!! Thank you!!
He was the drummer for the group Genesis
Class of 89 and I will always air drum to this song.
Love your reactions Nat, i think you are one of the best going around, much respect from the desert's of central Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you my guy 💪🏽
He was in his 50’s here! It was early 2000’s so maybe there was some autotune- but he sounded exactly like this BEFORE autotune.
Hes one of the megastars of pop and rock as musician, composer and vocalist. Third biggest record seller of all time after the Beatles and MJ.
Now watch Phil at his best...as the drummer of Genesis foing the song Supper's Ready live 1973
It takes decades of hard work to get to the stage of making things _look_ effortless.
It amazes me how many of these young people don’t know the music of Phil Collins. The music he made with Genesis and on his own will withstand the test of time. They don’t make music like this anymore !!!!
Awesome thanks ❤❤❤❤
Great reaction. Another classic live is Queen at live aid.
