- Today part 1 of a tutorial giving you a step by step guide on what the Arma 3 multiplayer is and how you go about starting the game up to the point of combat insertion, in part two we will look at scouting engaging and giving intel to your team.

hopefully these tutorials solve the "walk around for 30 minutes see nothing and get shot and die" problem.

+Blaze The Hedgehog ? as annoying as it is its mostly your fault. its hard not to be impatient though. its easy to just try to trudge through a mission but a lot of this stuff is meant to be done in close to real time.

I have played a lot of shooter. Started off cod, csgo, battlefield, pubg but this is the only game I'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm playing single player missions right now but haven't touched multiplayer at all. I wanna know more about multiplayer.

Just finished my first online mission. I had hardly any idea what was going on. Jumped in a chopper as a gunner and was told by the pilot to engage a marker on the ground. I killed an asset that was decided to be captured apparently. A huge argument broke out, our chopper was downed by a friendly jet and the server was ended lol. I guess you can say it went really well.

Even though the MP requires a bit of dedication, you can set up amazingly fun chaotic missions in the editor (trust me, you can make ANYTHING in there) and save them for SP, COOP or MP use. I often boot it up for 10 minute 100 man firefights in the main town, amazing fun and incredibly intense.

This was a good video LT even for me who has not much insight into Arma outside of a select handful of TH-camr's videos and this will be beneficial to me because now when I watch the videos of perhaps you or somebody else I now know what's happening rather than watching it blind so to speak.

@For the shared map, make sure you are in the right chat channel, when you are in direct chat, only people near you can see your markers, when you are in group chat only people of your group (when assigned by server, squadleader can see if he has the small head symbols in the top left which he can order around), side chat and everyone in your team can see it, global chat everyone can see it (AI doesnt respond to markers set if not designed by mission), often markers are in wrong chat by accident

The spotting thing mainly works automatically whenever you do the "narrow view" when you right-click zoom. Your guy just calls targets he sees in that view.
For calling targets like Arma vets do, 1st off you need to shout "Contact!" and then tell them where they are at. For that, use the compass (K) or the give them watch directions (9 o´clock, etc) and then describe where the enemy are at.
Remember, shooting at a target is also considered as a contact shoutout.

Not off the top of my head... I mean there's basic stuff: Ferry (transport), Pickup, Extract (dangerous pickup), contact (You've detected enemies), hard contact (you're engaged by enemies) etc etc. I think the main thing is it's super beneficial to have a mic, and to know how to give contact reports (enemy type: bearing: distance - or grid reference if you're not near friendlies)

Hey Luetin I noticed that you decided to forgo smoke grenades for chemlight. In some other videos I've noticed that people throw their smokes and chemlights into the same area to get a illuminated smoke effect, which really saves chemlights and improves the pilot's visibility. Just something maybe you'd like to try out.

i would recommend getting ArmA 2:combined operations its has a lot more mods and missions for it. for instance alot of servers run the mods A.C.E(Advanced Combat Environment) alongside with A.C.R.E (Advanced Combat Radio Environment) which make the game much more realistic and enjoyable or at least for me. -Trevor McNeill

I appreciate the effort, Luetin, but it's hard to have a Beginner's Guide for Arma 3 in general since there aren't any set game modes. That virtual inventory you talked about wouldn't apply to a lot of Arma missions. Certainly this is useful if you want people to play on that specific server, but I hope you're able to find a way to make a more general multiplayer overview. This video felt very specific to this one mission.

I played on AWG server. The server runs 24 hrs and no lag at all. They got awesome mods and scripts. Friendly to play with.

This should be higher up, it's quite important. In adversarials I too often see people transmitting map markers in global, especially if we're running ACRE.

I'm new to the PC gaming community, can you have a multiplayer set-up where you have a team with your friends as infantry units and you play strictly as air support? I think it would be cool if your friends would attack an enemy base and you fly in and bomb the crap out of the remaining targets.

Yeah im also in need of a refreshing guide to exacly how the spotting/enemy callout work.
Most of the time my dude seem to call things out automatically, usuly stuff i myself havent seen yet. Sometimes he calls out when an enemy is down, sometimes he doesnt.

Thanks for the video. Some great tips and advice here. The thing I have trouble with is informing my squad leads where I am on the map. It's easy when you can see your own marker, but on many servers you don't see your self on the map. So getting to an objective is easy as long as you know where you yourself are in context to the destination. Any advice would be appreciated.

What happens if you cant join because you are playing on a different User file. Can you make a new Unit for you to play if your account gets hacked or stolen?

ok, u want to go onto steam, and look for the J2F2 clan (i think its openly recruiting right now) join their group and you will get notifications when the private sever is up and the password or when cadet training is underway, (you could aslo message one of the admins and ask when the next cadet training session will be, there is also squad leader training everyonce in awhile, so if you want to be a squad leader, u an training form them)
It depends on your taste really... if you're into more realistic scenarios (where you have to plan your movements, customize your loadout to suite the mission, and have a whole lot of patience) then go with a ArmA 3 which is more of a MilSim. This isn't anything close to run-and-gun (although there are some Deathmatch servers) so if you're into that kinda stuff, stick with something like the Battlefield franchise.
Damn I fell in love with this game as a kid I primarily played campaign but it was super hard I never understood it and its weird glitches im planning on playing it again and online on my not so crappy computer 2014 is sure a long time ago I was 9 BTW

Great video. I have a very hard time getting a server that I log on to to work.. 1 out of 50 usually.
On current servers you should get a warning if a portable AA is aiming or firing at you.
It`s only on the radar, no sound notification.
But flares only doesn't work, you have to move quickly.

well luetin, i would watch this but i already had a 1 hour training session on invade and annex on a server i like to play on, (its a really hardcore server) where if u dont run with your squad leader, or u dont listen to him, you are kicked

Press "." and "," on your keyboard to cycle through channels
Turn off official servers
nice vid, once i get to grips with the game i may see you on the servers.
Thing is that when I join any server it says I need a key or contact the admin of the server or some files I don't know what to do I can't play on any server.
Quick question. Is there a choice picking between what you want to be. If there is, tell me how to.

Yeah love the server, just normally we join and we get in a squad but that night 1 of our group had to wait a bit for someone to leave to gain access but great server, your server is it?

I'd advise any new player to bind the gps to like thumb button 2 or something, to always keep it open at all times. Does so much for situational awareness.

This was a very useful video thank you. however could someone explain the basics of all the different game modes. I am always slightly nervous of joining game modes that I am not sure what they are.
I wasn't able to join a group earlier as they were all private. How do I join a group? Also how do I get transport? I kept jumping in random choppers and then being asked to move.

So people say there are PvP servers, but are the PvP servers populated? If there are a decent amount of players on those then I will buy the game, otherwise, I might think about BF4. I really like these realism games, but good PvP is a must for me. Battleground Europe is the best WW2 FPS realism game out there. Just wish they would update their graphics already.

I've never played but I have a few questions.
Are there NPC troops? What are their rolls? How skilled are they?
Do pilots ever get kills? Can the bail from the aircraft and go on foot?
If I got killed, how long before medics can't wake me up?
What is a typical kill count over one session?
What vehicle are there? Can enemy steal them?
Final question, should I stop playing games like COD and BF4, and just commit myself to this?
i have only played a single match so can`t really answer all your questions but some of them i`ll try to answer.
1)this mod is just one of the many many mods you can play. This mode is about player vs very very smart AI that can kill u in no time.There are also pvp and fantasy/overhaul mods.
2)i am a noob so as expected i only had a single kill in my match. most of the times i could not even see where the enemy was shooting at me from.
3)pilots can get kills cuz their helis have guns and when there are no people to transfer they can give support to the infantry. also from time to time enemy jets spawn that try to bombard the airfield to stop us reinforcing the frontline. helies have to defend themselves in those situations.
If you are in a squad can you use some radio communication?, not just the direct communication?.
i saw that you were spotting some targets... is this only possible as a team leader or can this do everyone? and how do i communicate this?
I really want this game but I'm not sure if I could get into it. I'll wait a while I think.
Is there a firing range in one of the bases or is there training?
My brother is pretty well informed of whats going on about pc stuff so he made me a good pc gamer and then we went to some pros and verified.

Now near the end of the video i saw you spot enemys like contact infantry 100m -south east. How do you do that ? I hear you push some keys. Could you please tell how i can do that too ?
