To answer anyone's questions about the IR Grenades:
IR Grenades have multiple purposes, such as marking an LZ or even marking a Strafing Position for Jets/Helicopters, but one of it's primary functions is ALSO for GBU's (like you see on the A-164 - GBU-12).
Here's how it works, basically, you throw the IR Grenade into lets say a group of infantry, so long as the pilot (or the IR Sensor on the A-164) has visual on the Grenade, the Pilot can drop a GBU as soon as it locks on, just like an AIM-9X or an AIM-120, the only difference is, there's no diving required, as soon as you get a lock, you can drop, and the GBU will hit DEAD on the target.
Hope this info helped some of the newcomers or those who are a bit confused :)
Does it lock onto automatically or what? and how do you use the bombs certain jets have? I'm fairly new and repeatedly get frustrated as I can't properly use all the features of different vehicles as there are no good tutorials for it >.
sebastian svensson It locks on similar to how Anti-Air Missiles will lock onto planes.
And Manual Drops are REALLY hard to pull off because Arma 3 doesn't have the correct setup for it, the Flight Display isn't set up for a Manual Drop, sadly.
Lol at the ATC fail. "Landing on 4 left." "Taking off on 22 right." I was expecting a nice explosion there.
I've been playing Arma for quite some time, and a good technique when flying in arma 3 is to Pay CLOSE attention to your hud @ the top of the screen when You get locked on. ALOT of the time it's JUST a soft lock on You and NOT an actual missle coming in @ You. Be CERTAIN that You indeed See the "M" on the Hud, coming in @ You, BEFORE you flare, since they go SO fast in Arma 3, with the "burst Flare" function.
and, when fighting air to air, if it's possible, TRY to hold your lock on for a second or so, 9 times out of 10, your enemy will flare his ass off, and losing flares is WORSE than losing ammo in Arma 3 flight battle.
Love the videos. Wish I had a rig that could handle this right now.
Big pet peeve with the aircraft ground ops, though. Every time you go to the refuel/rearm section, you turn back onto the next active runway. Instead, there's a taxiway just past that second active that would make things safer for incoming craft because you could clear the active quickly by crossing it and take the taxiway down.

I've put in quite a bit of seat time and now I'm going out for the air sqn with my unit. Prior to your vid, I had never even considered flying!

Really nice video. But you should show us how to really bomb. I mean, bombing when someone is carrying a laser designator is sooooo much fun cuz bombing becomes really usefull and not just " random and hope it will fall on the ennemy "

Luetin, try flying with Track IR (or Freetrack). It will dramatically improve the experience for you.
Wow, I haven't seen much ARMA 3 stuff, but everyone sounded so professional. Looks like loads of fun, but I bet the learning curve is very steep though.

are there any servers with more jet action maybe dogfights? Apperantly a lot of servers and admins are haters on jets and stuff, mostly on ahoy

is there a way to aim exactly with the dump fire bombs? i feel like they explode around 100m before the actual target
These graphics are super detailed but really jagged. Not sure how I feel about them. Does it look much better on your screen Lietin? It's like the graphics are good and bad at the same time.

Great video LT but hey guys I was wondering this game looks really good but I was wondering what do you do in the game?? Like I mean is it like battlefield were your fighting other ppl online? Or just do missions with other ppl online? Srry just not familiar with what you do in game. Thxs in advance
It's a military sandbox game, meaning you can make your own mods,missions, or download them from other people.
What are using to talk to the other players?
The 7th Cav server is also really nice.

Reminds me of a flight sim I played back in the nineties which I really like called JSF.
You should get DCS A-10C.
It's insanely realistic with physics and it's 100% comprehensive to real A-10C operations.
I've played arma for year's. And i recently (well owned them for 8 months now) got a pair of X-55s and i cant find a single place where i can bum a X-55 profile from. You'd think there would be on one the net or a thread on it, nope i've found nothing. :( i've always wanted to fly in the heli or planes

In the video I can see vehicle contacts appear as green squares in the flight HUD. However, when I am playing, I can see no such thing and am left with no option other than to switch to a lock on weapon and start locking on to see where vehicles are. Is there something I'm missing here?
if ya press R is comes up with enemy vehicles that are in your general direcetion

yup thats what I would use on this server, nearly every Arma server has their own TS which is advertised on entering the server etc

Why is the auto pilot broken for me?It will crash land 40 meters from the strip of an airfield
GamerViking It's not really landing-autopilot. Just land normally.
Yea the buzzard auto pilot is not working. The wipeout's does however. Tested it out on editor and found out. The Wipe out managed to land succesfully without me touching any controls at all.

I keep getting killed by infantry when doing fly past. What did i do wrong?
+James Poh Don't overfly your target. Come in from long range, line up and then break. You only have a few brief moments of TOT(time on target) and this is how it tends to be in real life as well. It's better to get a few rounds off, break and survive, than line up and do a full long burst and get shot.
Okay. I get that, but I meant i usually get killed on the original flyby to visual eye on the contacts...

Fly high until you're called in, CAS is more about intel than anything else. Going hunting is very risky if you don't know where your targets are supposed to be.
I see. Thanks. Cos I was doing some training on targets so i just spawn some units on the ground, but i always got shot down before I could see them..
Oof, you really have to set that view range much higher when flying a jet...
so even though this video is 7 years old, I will point out that I remember the server had view distance restrictions, and you could only set things so far
@@Luetin09 ok, but that's only like 2km, which is really really low imo.
You had to constantly look on the map to even find the airport. That's like flying in IFR conditions / in foggy weather. No fun :)

+Jesse Bassett Google says flaps fully down on landing and half flaps on take-off. Fully up when flying around.
Flaps are meant to kill speed and get air/fly in lower speeds, makes it easier to land in shorter runways and take off.
yeah, but always use flaps even on a long runway.

I play at around 10-15 Fps on the shit setttings, but I only play roles that fit my Fps, such as LMG Gunner for supressive firing and sniper.
