- Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, as a Category 3 storm Wednesday night, then weakened as it traveled across the peninsula. Millions of Floridians evacuated ahead of the historic hurricane, which came just two weeks after Helene slammed the Sunshine State.
