- Milton had made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, Wednesday night, as a Category 3 storm, considered a major hurricane, with 120 mph winds. We're following the latest developments as the storm travels across the state.

I don't know that I have ever seen a Hurricane start East of Mexico, and go East through the Gulf, across Florida, and continue East. They usually turn North. Weird. Global Warming? Earth tilting? All I know is I have never seen a Hurricane do this.
I'm here in Manatee County and I can tell you one thing that was the strongest category 4 I've ever seen in my entire Natural Life

The Tropicana Stadium in St. Petersburg, which was provided as a shelter for the hurricane, had it's entire roof ripped off! All the beds in there are now rain soaked.

@@apage1717 go to the west coast - go to Calif - San Diego- perfect 72 degrees year round - don’t let earthquakes scare you- not going to happen in SD, Fla., is ugly compared to Calif. Florida has trump- if you worship him, then you might stay. But enuf with Florida- humidity/ hurricane/ bugs / it’s not good there

Jails and prisons are safe. They're concrete fortresses. But they definitely have to have a certain protocol per jail/prison. I'd imagine they hunker down and ride it out tbh
They're not being evacuated, mabye they'll be moved to the top floors if they have to. They could atleast evacuate the non-violent offenders.

Some were in Tropicana Stadium in St. Pete, but the roof got totally ripped off about landfall, so all beds soaked now by rain, not a shelter now.

Many refuse to leave their home so I guess it means more than their lives.
The state provides shelter areas for 200000 capacity. Busses were arranged in larger cities.
I have never lived in a country with this kind of weather but I do not understand why people try to ride it out instead of evacuating. I understand that for some it can be very difficult to evacuate but I see healthy adults with cars who choses to stay. I don´t get it.

All the hotels are booked in Ridgeland, SC. And they are all at all the gas stations and they are taking all our gasoline. The locals are just not happy about this because we don’t know if we are going to need it for ourselves. So, thanks for your gas that you are making sure gets to the gas stations for us to.
