@@Roboprogs imo Umbra and The Ebony Blade are attempts to recreate Stormbringer (aka The Blade Sword), the sword wielded by Elric and other incarnations of the Eternal Champion, from a series of Novels written by Michael Moorcock. I'm playing through oblivion and got that sword, so badass. I only use umbra and duskfang/dawnfang. I only wish I didn't have to walk everywhere to get the 12 kills. If you fast travel, you're more than likely going to miss getting the superior version since it's constantly on a timer.
About the whole “not picking up Umbra” thing… Yeah, that dark influence isn’t around anymore. After the Oblivion Crisis, Umbra the entity left the sword. The dark influence is gone, but probably most, if not all, of its power is now gone, especially since Umbra the entity doesn’t really exist anymore. The whole story is really complicated, but to sum it up, Umbra the sword is fairly underwhelming by the time the Dragonborn arrives in Helgen.
@@ShadowIsatis Basically, what happened was that Umbra the entity, when the sword returned to Clavicus Vile’s realm, cut out a chunk of Vile’s power for itself and used it to manifest. Shenanigans ensue, including a merging with some old guy, then something involving a big floating city called Umbriel… It’s kinda crazy. Also, that’s not even the same Umbra sword. The original was a one-handed sword. The one added by the Umbra Creation Club mod is two-handed and actually does 4 less base damage than the version from Oblivion. More than likely, this is more like an “Umbra 1.1” than an “Umbra 2.0.” That being said, this one *probably* has some kind of corrupting influence since Daedra gonna Daedra, but Dragonborns in TES lore are EXTREMELY strong-willed, so that influence isn’t going to be all that effective in the short-term.

I remember running across a random mountain in Morrowind and looting this off of what was a pretty rough fight at low levels.
Yes! I used to run there as soon as I could, with a basic bow and arrows, climb up on the rock next to him and just whittle him down. Such a slog but so worth it!
Gotta love morrowind, just randomly bump into an essential storyline NPC and kill them without knowing and sever the thread of destiny lol
@@mikek7660 but you can still do the main quest regardless of how many story npc's you kill.
Sword was like 50lbs and you could carry much loot for a long while... morrowind.. the good Ole days.
Gotta get the “Lords Mail” too, just lower the difficulty and up it once you defeat the redguard.
Or the “auriels bow”, from the dawn or dusk house at the red mountain gate 😊
"Dont pick this sword up"
"So what im hearing is you want me to pick up the sword?"
"No"

One Sword to find them,
One Sword to bring them all,
And in the darkness bind them."

@@Roboprogs imo Umbra and The Ebony Blade are attempts to recreate Stormbringer (aka The Blade Sword), the sword wielded by Elric and other incarnations of the Eternal Champion, from a series of Novels written by Michael Moorcock. Incidentally, Moorcock is credited with popularizing the theory of the Multiverse.
They need to give duskfang/dawnbreaker it's original stats. That sword in oblivion made you a god.
I'm playing through oblivion and got that sword, so badass. I only use umbra and duskfang/dawnfang. I only wish I didn't have to walk everywhere to get the 12 kills. If you fast travel, you're more than likely going to miss getting the superior version since it's constantly on a timer.
@@theunemployedyouth9311 What timer? Is it in Skyrim?
" This sword is to die for..."
-A former wielder of the Umbra
The Will of the Sword sounds like a bad ass weapon based fighting game.
I mean, that's basically the plot of the Soul Calibur series.
About the whole “not picking up Umbra” thing…
Yeah, that dark influence isn’t around anymore.
Wait, seriously?
Underwhelming for umbra/an umbra replica. It is still a badass weapon, by all means
@@mercwiththemouthsnewphone6798 Actually, I’ve heard of a mod that’s now out that allows you to not only get the PROPER version of Umbra, but you can allegedly ride the sword LIKE A SKATEBOARD.

And yet again i am disappointed by the limitations of console modding
Umbra in Oblivion is pure gold! Awesome sword
Umbra : "Keep killing people nonstop for it is my insatiable bloodlust"
Dragonborn: "I do that for fun all day, is there something else you wanna say to me biatch ?"
The Nerevarine, Dragonborn and the Hero of Oblivion are strong enough to subdue the sword! My favourite weapon in the series.
It's nice to see people listing these heroes in descending order of importance
Video: “Umbra’s dark influence consumes the mind of its wielder”
Dragonborn: “thats cute”
😝😝
Yes, the dragonborn would likely be resistant to the effects because of their dragon soul BUT, alternatively, Umbra build.
Plot twist the person controlling the dragon aka us
Is umbra themselves
You must be asking yourself why Bethesda added this specifically later in the game. As to imply the last thing the Dragonborn does before fading to obscurity is pick up this sword as was a similar fate of the hero of kavach before him
It's cc, which means it's a paid mod.
Umbra was destroyed and its power reabsorbed by Vile
@@the_dropbear4392 It would explain why he wanted the hero of Kvatch to get it for him
@@the_dropbear4392 Truth. I actually read the lore. Here goes Bethesda casting lore aside to make dollars to the pennies the guy who made this did.

Umbra: your will is mine
Dragonborn: yeah put yourself in the queue, theres already 13 gods trying to get it
Umbra: gets picked up

Umbra: You are mine now
Me on an Evil playthrough: Oh no, I don't quite think you understand the situation
And suddenly there was an influx of dovahkiin seeking the sword.
Some day I will not die trying to get that sword...
This sword is so good in oblivion, if you don’t complete the quest, the weapon will always stay in your inventory. Like if you go to jail you still have this bad boy in your inventory 👌
I’d really want to get it in later levels but it’s so good.
There needs to be a weapon where if you pick it up, the weapon's vengeful former owner follows you and kills you if you hold the weapon.
*BUT LOOK AT THE STATS*
In oblivion I carry 2 swords Umbera and Goldbrand. One is for sucking souls and the other is for killing. But what I love about Umbera is the fact you can get it as soon as you exit the sewers.
Dawn breaker/Duskfang (the time-sensitive fire-ice sword) is pretty good too.
I HAVE MEMORIZED YOUR MOVES, JOTARO!

Good thing I locked it in a display case. Now everyone gets to see it and hear it's muffled screaming through the glass
Umbra: “You’re mine now mortal!”
Akatosh: *clears throat*
Umbra: “Right, sorry sir. Forgot about the get out of jail free card your Dragonborn get.”
The Hero of Kvatch: “oh, this thing? The daedric prince it belongs to asked me to get it. I might eventually get around to that, or I’ll follow his dog’s advice and _not_ do that.”
Okay but does it fly back to you screaming like a clingy girlfriend if you try to discard it?

Ah memories…remember ending Oblivion with the Umbra in hand, combined with Azura’s Star, outfitted in all enchanted Deadric armor and wearing TWO rings of perfection…basically one shotting everyone I came across.
Umbra : "Your soul is mine!"
Me, opening up the command console : "Yeah, about that, pal..."
ah yes, unbroken road, one fo skyrims best tracks.
Umbra: “You soul is mine.”
Dragonborn: “My soul isn’t even my own, gimme.”
This is basically Soul Edge.
That will not stop me from collecting every unique weapon I see
Then the Umbra got lost, froze and is now known as the Frostmourne
Love your shorts Fudge 😊

If we can count headcannon as lore I got you lol
Custom enchanted weapons at level 100 are better IMO. *Especially* with some "creative" use of potions. Some guy made an iron dagger that one-shotted Mehrunes Dagon at the end of Oblivion's Main Quest. I think It broke the game because he's supposed to be invincible, but still.
Umbra: YOU WILL BEND TO MY WILL
Dragonborn: I miss the part where that’s my problem
