    Remember, Molag Bal created vampires out of sheer spite. When he was told that his dominion over mortals would always be subservient to the inevitable fate of death itself, Molag Bal gave his creations immortality so that death couldn't steal them.

    Peryite is underappreciated. Peryite is basically the head maid or hyper competent assistant who makes sure everything is running smoothly, running around making sure everyone and everything is working and doing thier jobs and sleeps maybe one hour a day.
    He is considered "weak" because he's usually far too busy to bother interacting with the mortal world, so we rarely see him or his actions.

    I'd enjoy a look into the relationships BETWEEN Daedric Princes; (perhaps even lesser daedra for that matter) which Princes dislike others, or enjoy their company and why.
    Or why events like what happened to Jyggalag aren't more common. do the 16 wish to avoid heavy conflict, are they simply too powerful, are they constantly on the defence waiting for an assault? Perhaps Peryite was the last to try, or even once much more powerful, and thus he has "earned" his position as touched on in the video.

      @LordMortanius 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      We only have Jyggalag's word that he was cursed by the other 16. The likelier explanation is that Jyggalag is another facet of Sheogorath's madness in the form of paranoid megalomania; Sheo and Jyggy are Jekyll and Hyde without the other princes giving a toss.

      @prometheanrebel3838 2 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I think, in a way, Jyggalag *IS* Madness/Insanity as well. Think about it. He gets shattered into Uncle Sheo, builds up the Isles, then the Greymarch happens, Isles gets destroyed and built in Jyggalag's image, shattering happens again, rinse and repeat. He's doing the same thing over and over again.

    I like to think that Herma Mora's knowledge in his Black Books doesn't drive someone insane, per se. More that it lifts the veil of what that person perceives is reality and gains a higher existence of thought, understanding the world in such a way that their actions *seem* insane to the 'normal peoples' but is the true truth to how to live, think, and act.
    I point to Septimus Signus in Skyrim as a case-in-point. He *seems* insane but also clearly shows an uncanny intelligence in things that, while we may not be able to unravel, pulls at your mind in such a way to wonder what truth he may be speaking.

      Eldritch insanity, which is obviously what his gifts bring, was best explained to me like this:
      Imagine an ant crawling across a motherboard, blissfully unaware, and incapable of being aware of what it moved across, just enjoying the heat it produced and perhaps the colors of the components to it's sight. Now take that ant, yank it's consciousness up to a human level, give it a single eternal moment to understand not only how small it is, but what it is that it stands upon truly is, and what a simple motherboard might be used to do, give it enough of a moment for that information to take hold, for it to truly understand it all........ and then slam it back down into the body of the ant. Back into a being physically incapable of understanding anything it just learned, but let it keep it's memories, let it remember that it did understand, although it has no way to even communicate or expose even the very smallest fraction of any of the knowledge due to its own physical limitations. That is what Eldritch gods do to people.

    I have the base foundation of a theory regarding the relationship between the aedra and daedra. The premise is that each of the nine divines (counting Shezarr in place of Talos because who cares) has two daedric counterparts. Of course, we are missing an extra daedric prince to make the numbers work out, but whatever.
    For example, Julianos's counterparts are Hermaeus Mora and Sheogorath because all three gods are built around the idea of the power of the mind. Julianos represents the "good" aspects of knowledge, education, and wisdom, whereas Mora and Sheo are taking those things too far and suffering the consequences.
    In a similar vein, the "outdoors" gods are Kynareth for all the pleasant and happy things in nature, while Hircine and Peryite are the wild and ugly sides.
    We've got Dibella being reflected in Mephala and Namira, being perversions of sex and the decay of once-beautiful things.
    And Zenithar's work ethic is squandered by Sanguine going out and partying or wealth being stolen instead of earned with Nocturnal.
    I could list out all the ones I've pieced together, but that would be wasting time because I don't really have anywhere to go with it other than "hey, look at these tenuous connections I made." There's no *So what?* for me to pull out of this, but I think there _is_ something here.

    • @indigoraven2203
      @indigoraven2203 2 ปีที่แล้ว +59

      Regardless of whether this idea holds any weight in the long run or not, I think it’s pretty cool! I like the idea of each trinity of Gods showing the many facets to different concepts. Imo, it also adds some depth to the (D)Aedra. Not sure how it would add up with the creation myth, but like I said, it’s a snazzy idea regardless! Something I’d love to see explored more. Since Arkay is the Aedra of natural cycles & all, perhaps Mehrunes Dagon could be a counterpart to him, as he is the Deadric Prince of ambition & change, forwarding the progression of cycles in a way (dunno if that made sense).

    • @dasik84

      I'd be very interested in seeing the other divines' counterparts in this theory, as well as the divine that's supposedly "missing" a daedric prince. I'm making a D&D campaign based on TES and I'd like to use this in my interpretation of the pantheon. Maybe I could fill in the missing daedra in my story, like a villain who is destined to ascend and be the final daedric prince unless the players stop him.

    Do we actually know that all the Daedra Lords sat out the creation of Mundus?
    The assumption is the Aedra lost their power in the creation of Nirn, but then how does former Aedra like Malacath and Meridia have the power of Daedra Princes? How does Lorkhan's heart have enough power for the Tribunal to defeat Daedra Princes if Lorkhan used up most of his power in the creation of Nirn? We also have legends where Hircine, Azura, Boethiah, and even Mephala were allies of Lorkhan. Why would they be allies of Lorkhan if they didn't believe in his project and refused to contribute their power to it.

    • @Vlugazoide
      @Vlugazoide 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      The Tribunal power thing could be because of CHIM, because Camoran was right and Lorkhan is daedric in essence, or simply because a daedra can slip up. The Lorkhan allying with Daedra is basically because he has a common essence with them, so their goals could intersect a lot, and why didn't they participate? I think that the fact that everyone but Lorkhan was Anuic has something to do with it. Probably Lorkhan specifically chose to trick/convince Anuic entities for some pragmatic reason (their orderly persona keeping his new realm? Their presence helping to fulfill the psijiic endeavor?) so it makes sense why the daedra weren't present in creation, however you've raised some excellent questions!

      Presumably Trinimac absorbed some of Boethia's power after being consumed, regaining power and untethering from Mundus, but corrupting him into a Daedric Prince. Meridia as a Magna Gee, fled Mundus along with Magnus and the others, and as such maintained her power. She now resides in Oblivion with the other Daedric Princes after being cast out from Aetherius. The heart would grant greater power as the magical core of Mundus along with Princes not having as much power and influence in Mundus as they would in their own realms. They'd more so side with Lohrkhan as he is the creator of the stage that grants them some amusement from their eternal boredom, with some even possesing admiration of his treachery (Boethia).

    • @brandonbridge371
      @brandonbridge371 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It is known that Daedric Princes are stronger on their own plane of Oblivion. Since Nirn is made from the bones of Lorkhan so Nirn is essentially his plane of Oblivion so his heart would give the tribunal immense power. Malacath is known to be the weakest Daedric Prince I'm sure the reason you stated is why. Don't forget the Aedra aren't completely powerless (( Oblivion Spoiler )) look at what Akatosh did in Oblivion.

    I always found Clavicus's separation to be a psyche based separation. Brabus seems to be the one with caution, foresight, and the want to act on those- whilst Clavicus acts with whimsy, a blissful vagueness on everything, and a want to just delight in scamming people. Perhaps he wanted to be free of these parts of himself but was aware that without them he'd be frequently scammed. So he made those thoughts and qualities to an annoying, barking dog, one that can be ignored should he wish.

    I never understood how changing the Chimer was a curse. It’s not like the other races revile them for their skin color. If anything they just became more unique and badass so it’s hardly a punishment. Plus Azura herself appears as a Dunmer in Morrowind and other places. If she thought looking like that was a punishment she would always appear as a Chimer instead.
    In my headcanon it makes more sense if the Dwemer looked like the Dunmer do now. So Azura went “hey the Dwemer messed with the heart too so, if you want to emulate those blasphemers, your ancient frenemies, then go ahead and look like them too you ungrateful bastards.”

This explains all the racism in morrowind too, if everyone hates you might as well hate everyone back.

      Note that this does not mean that there aren't racism in Windhelm. But it is not as prevalent as the Dunmer of the city claims and believes. Indeed, most Nords of the city doesn't really care what race you are, as long as you are pulling your weight.

    Would be interesting to speculate the Et'Ada who'd participate on both sides of the next Dawn War between the Et'Ada. The ultimate battle of Gods and Mortals, fighting over the very nature of the Aurbis itself, encompassing the existence of the Mundus.
    Here's another pretty interesting thing to note; Lorkhan has quite a few Daedric allies, further placing into his darker affiliation.
    If another Dawn War started, the only Daedric Prince's I'd expect to possibly join Auriel would be Malacath and Meridia, who are of course Elven Aedra at heart. Maybe Jyggalag as well, a more Orderly diety is who he'd likely chose over the more chaotic Lorkhan.
    Mehrunes Dagon as an ally to help destroy Mundus would also be nice to see as well, for he's attempted it once before... and he's the descendant of Magnus and the Magne Ge so, he has Elven ties as well.

      I wouldn't say they "stabbed him the back", that was actually Mephala, if we're talking specifics.
      And considering he was tossed and banished by Boethia to a Realm of Oblivion, I don't see why he wouldn't be open to joining his old friend and king Auriel to once again combat Lorkhan and his forces, just like they did in the Dawn times.
      But of course, yeah I suppose on how one makes distinctions.
      Although, Dagon being a "catalyst for hope" still does fit in a way, as his purpose to undo failed creations could've been seen as a hopeful endeavor by the Magne Ge, but I saw where you're coming from as well.
      Or maybe, as Drew mentioned one time, he was able to have Hope as a Virtue since he may have been made in part to help the slaves of the Dreugh Kings, assuming Lyg was a part of an early Mundus project.
      Either way, yeah Dagon joining Auriel's side makes sense, but I wish to also speculate on other Et'Ada, if you don't mind. Any list you could have in your head?
      We don't have to include all Et'Ada, but the more the merrier. Some like Molag may just join the side he thinks will win, I feel that's his sort of mindset, and others would have their own plans for the winners, like Sheogorath, so, not all would be involved of course

      The Reachmen don't see Malacath the same way most other races do, and in fact, often don't see Orcs as his own people, just a race he sends to "test them". There are more religions, like even with the Khajit and Nords, that place Malacath into the role of what Trinimac also represents, so...
      And while it's a shame Malacath isn't showcased with the Aldmeri, it's because to them, Trinimac's demise was the end to that now tragic Warrior, and since Trinimac/Malacath was banished to Oblivion, he technically no longer resides alongside his Aedric kin in Aetherius.
      And since Trinimac's Sphere (while mostly the same at its core) was altered once he became Malacath, you could argue that would be something "traditional" the Altmer would see as altered and therefore not the same.
      They see he's resided with his Orcs and a new way of life that most Orcs live, not quite like their Aldmeri ancestors.
      Still, if the War of the Dawn as we know it were to have a Round 2, he wouldn't ally with Lorkhan and his allies (and Malacath has inherited the enemies of his previous self, Trinimac, since hes technically just the same being). And some Orcs still worship Trinimac's old Sphere instead of Malacath's newer

What if you did a video that went through and theorized what side every other Daedric Prince would be on. I think Meridia and Nocturnal would probably be Good Daedra. There are so many realms of oblivion, it's only a matter of time until a new Deadric Prince is born. As the crazy lore of TES online keeps going, this prince is likely to be about industrial progress, similar to jyggalag, but more centered on man and mer created technology

    I think Peryite is one of the strongest Daedra, all the other Daedra want to keep his following down by lying that he is weak. I mean, he’s literally depicted as a dragon. (I think Sheogorath is stronger though).

      and one thing that made him strong in fact is that his followers are not mortals from Nirn but dremoras thay live by contract and administration and for them he is the god of administration so yeah a good reserve of followers

    • @LordMortanius
      @LordMortanius 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He's a dragon as a private joke against Akatosh. Peryite isn't weak - that generally seems to be a mortal perception. His areas of concern generally lie with Oblivion itself, and his dominion over pestilence is generally self-governing, so he doesn't really need to exert power on Nirn.

    you know, after listening to all the other vids about the Daedric lords you guys have, I've realized 2 things:
    1) alot of them have overlapping spheres which makes sense why almost none of them get along.
    2) every single one of them either has at least ONE aspect of Jyggalag residing in their being or personality or however you wanna describe it, OR he outright antis them entirely. ironically the only other prince capable of standing up to him would probably be Mehrunes since he's a nonstop revolutionary and Jyg is all about perfect order.

    Vaermina: Dream a Little dream of me.

    I like Molag Bal, simply because he is straightforward and honest about his spheres of influence & he respects those who are strong.
    Unlike Mephala, Boethiah, Nocturnal, Namira, Mehrunes Dagon, Peryite, and Vaermina. They use deceit and trickery to achieve their goals/desires
    which I consider far more evil.
    While others such as Hircine, Molag Bal, Azura, Meridia, and Malacath are honest about their spheres of influence and about their goals/deals.
    The more neutral types such as: Sanguine, Sheogorath, Clavicus Vile, Hermeus Mora, and Jyggalag. I respect them because they are mostly honest about their deals/desires, and if it ends up being bad for you it's mainly because you didn't question enough or think enough about them (basically be careful what you wish for) they are the epitome of Chaotic Neutral.

    • @LordMortanius
      @LordMortanius 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sheogorath is neutral? Dude is malicious compliance personified. He's every bit as malicious as Bal, only he hides it better. It's also hilarious that you call Vile neutral, considering he and Barbas pulled the wool over Vivec's eyes in ESO: MW and were aiming for the Clockwork City, and then it's revealed he was working with Mephala and Nocturnal (who outplayed EVERYONE).
      Peryite is hardly deceptive; he's up front about his goals in every appearance. Mehrunes Dagon is also pretty blunt; he's a very capable schemer, but he's not exactly hiding what he is.
      Meridia is, ironically, not "mostly honest". Just look at poor Darien, or the fact that she supported the Slaaneshi cultists that were the Ayleids.

      Molag Bal is quite literally a rapist, and you compare her to our goddess Azura?

    • @morrigankasa570
      @morrigankasa570 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LordMortanius I'm basing things off the encounters in Oblivion and Skyrim and then general lore to close some gaps based off of what is mentioned in these and other Elder Scrolls lore videos.
      As for the Clavicus Vile thing you mentioned he was simply offered a better deal.
      As for Sheogorath he is neutral because he is "Mad".
      Peryite is deceptive to his cultists/followers look at his quest in Skyrim, he gave that person a mission yet then turned on him simply because his followers had a different version of the same goal.
      As for Meridia, comparatively speaking she is Honest. She may support bad stuff but she is clear about disliking undead and darkness.

    • @morrigankasa570
      @morrigankasa570 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pqibkpq0o917kalj He is honest about being that and his other spheres of influence.
      He doesn't try to hide it and claim to be anything else.
      Also like I said he respects those who are strong in their own right, look at Harkon. Harkon did a bunch of evil things in Molag Bal's name, and Molag granted him his request making it clear about what the pact involved and that if he eventually did get killed his soul would go to Coldharbour. Same for getting Molag's Mace in Skyrim he doesn't pretend to be anything else and he doesn't get mad if you obey him in the most defiant way. While Mehrunes Dagon's Razor he gets mad at you if you obey him in the most defiant way AND no matter what he always summons a couple of Dremora to attack you!
      So yes, Molag Bal is honest which I prefer.

    • @LordMortanius
      @LordMortanius 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@morrigankasa570 The irony is that Bal doesn't actually respect Harkon or the player. Canonically, Bal respects those with the strength to defy him (the Vestige, Lamae Bal); the Dovahkiin has just established himself as another slave, a mouthy one perhaps, amongst the other millions Bal has.
      "I admire your tenacity, mortals."
      "Your time in my realm made you strong, as expected."
      "Good. I grant you permission to strengthen yourself with my minions."
      "The sacrifices you make are all done in my name. You are and will always be my servant."
      "It is you who will strike the final blow at our enemies. You are almost ready."
      Harkon? Bal gives him vampirism because Harkon begged him like a dog and proceeds to not give a fuck at all afterwards.
