Very interesting i played it safe an put big sur on my 2011 and 2012 mac minis but next time i put mac os ln ill try venture thanks for your great work and videos
I updated on a late 2012 Mini. In general it worked well but there are a few glitches. Ultimately I decided to get an M2 Mini. I got 10 years out of the 2012 & can only hope the Apple silicon holds up as well.
I did this procress following ur tutorial. Now, apps such as zoom, obs and chrome (for google meet) arent picking up my camera and microphone. In privacy and security no apps are being showed. I use a iMac late 2013 exactly the one you got. Is there any fix to this? I need my camera and microphone to be picked up by these apps for my university work.
This can be quite tricky unfortunately. I covered this exact upgrade which causes a black screen on boot and how to recover from it in another video: th-cam.com/video/8fsMVZDGc7o/w-d-xo.html Let me know if that works for you.
"All of the patches needed to install ventura on this iMac have been installed already" ... Well.... I failed to install macOS 12,13 or 14 on a 2014 mbp 15 inch with the 750M 2gb. On the "last step" after done iwth the installer, and I restarted the mac, I held the alt/ptions key, but got a vague "installer cannot start" or something error - it's a work laptop, I've returned it, with os 11 working fine. Now, I bought a late 2013 iMac, 21 inch, with he 750M 1gb again. haha Should the installer work this time?
I've got some detailed videos to install Monterey, Ventura and the latest macOS Sonoma on my channel on unsupported hardware. Have a look at those, this should contain what you need.
Thanks a lot! Please tell me what MacOS is better work on Mac Mini 2012 ? MacOS Monterey or Ventura ? now i have MacOS Monterey 12.6.3 installed on my Mac Mini 2012 and it works great. i don't know what to do - upgrade to the latest Monterey 13.2 or stay in current version of OS. Please advise me what to do
I didn't compare yet between Monterey and Ventura. To my feeling, performance feels the same. I guess if you're still happy with Monterey, there is no real need to upgrade unless you need some of the new features.
@RetroHobby 0 seconds ago Is it possible to use Ventura on my iMac27" mid 2011 32GB RAM, I gave up installing with OpenCore all version failed to crash during install. Thank you very much. I was only able to install BigSur with Patched Sur, OpenCore didn't work.
It's just a score on how fast/performant a certain operation was completed. By doing the same test on different hwrdware or operating systems, you xan compare the performance.
This has given me confidence to give Ventura a go on mm2012 Monterey worked out but I wanted time-machine and so had to downgrade back to Catalina. I haven't found a reliable way to restore user files/profiles from supported to unsupported macOS using OCLP.. if anyone has any tips I'd be grateful.. someone did suggest archiving the user.. maybe that saves data but not their profiles with OCLP chokes on the final reboot/part of the Migration Assistant.. it's something like that or 'bless'ing the disk / permissions
This is not really helping you but I have very mixed results with the migration assistant. Maybe take a backup of the old system/user and then manually migrate what you want to keep to a fresh install?
For the Mac Pro 4,1 and 5,1, Ventura doesn't work properly yet. The OpenCore team is busy working in patches but this can still take some time. For now better to stay on Monterey afaik.
Thanks!
Thanks for the nice feedback!
great comparison and nice makup of all the data. (y)
Great video. What about normal use ? It fells smoother?
Surprisingly yes. I upgraded my Mac Mini 2012 to ventura. It feels snappier. There’s definitely been some refinements under the hood.
I wouldn't say much smoother but for sure not worse either. To my feeling it just responds at least the same as before.

This video helped me a lot.
thank you very much
great great comparison. thank you❤
Great video! Did you manage to make the video comparing macOS performance with W11?
Didn't find time anymore to do that. Still on the list though :)

That sounds like a proper upgrade. No experience with the M2 but M1 is a huge leap forward from this already.

Hi, after installing Mac OS can I replace the hd5770 with a Rx580 pulse? Should any other patches or drivers be installed

Should be perfectly compatible without issues.
Great results👍🏻btw can i upgrade my macbook air 2017 too to ventura?pls let me know and sorry for my ignorance thank you!
Should be possible in the same way.
What do the benchmark tests actually mean though?

Can you do a tutorial of mac mini late 2012 with AMD egpu on ventura 😊
I would love to but no eGPU at my disposal unfortunately :)
@@jensdbe that's unfortunate for me 😂 appreciate the reply though!! 😁
👏👏👏
Mac Pro 2009 was crying in the private corner, so I need to update to the ventura.

The 0.5.4 release will hopefully add support for the Mac Pro. Fingers crossed
My last comment got deleted. I don’t know why. OpenCore Legacy Patcher 0.6.0 has just been released and the Mac Pro is supported.
It works guys. Ventura works on Mac Pro 2012 now thanks to OpenCore Legacy Patcher. It’s been updated to 0.6.1 too since my last comment
@@sayeghjoe that's good news. Will give it a try on my Mac Pro 4,1. Might do a short video on this as well. Let me know how it goes with you.
