Some things work great and some things not so much.
    Have you upgraded yours yet?
If so, how's it working for you?

Can you install windows 11 on your mac?

Just installed a 2 Tb SSD in my (16 Gb) non-fusion drive 2014 MacMini and also did the Open Core Legacy Patcher install of Ventura. I'm a happy camper indeed. Prior to this--with the spinning drive--the CPU would max out at around 80% idle. Now when it's working it can put the CPU at 0% idle but mostly 40-ish % when working hard--MUCH more throughput through the system.
My only hickup is that there is no Post-Install root patch application visible in Fiinder. I'll leave good enough alone as it seems solid, boots fast, and is responsive. AND I can use the Ventura feature of combining two 'family' photo libraries on this machine now--sort of my server for photos and music.
THANK YOU for what you research and present--well organized and logically presented.

I no longer have a mini, but I installed Ventura on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13 and everything works fine except the same issues that you described on your 2014 mini.

Try it with an updated version of the legacy patcher and install 13.1 (just do the normal upgrade through the app store).
      It works much better now.
At least it does on the 2012 MBP, haven't tried it on the mini yet.

what about Apple Motion? i use FCP intensely and it doesnt even open on my current OS (12.73 Monterrey) but i think i want to take that plunge into doing the Opencore. i want to utilize Motion more into my edits as well.

It's been half a year since this tutorial, has anything improved from the non-working features? Also can you tell me is bootcamp working on ventura or not?

i just installed ventura on a newer mbp.. so far it seems pretty stable but the new settings screen will take some getting used to.. havent used the 'stage manager' yet but im already used to the regular gestures

upgraded the exact same mac mini, most things worked except for memoji no longer worked on the login screen nor was editing memoji possible, the weather app crashes if you tried to scroll down, and there was problems if you try to delete files from eternal drives for some reason. lastly my bootcamp didnt work anymore, I could see it on the selection screen but when selected it just booted to macos regardless. all in all ventura is 99% the same as monterey so I just went back

    thanks for honest thoughts,
seems like Catalina still can hold for another year now for me, when new Affinity V2 requires MacOS 10.15 as minimum :D

I swear when I checked a few weeks ago, this mac was listed as supported. It's been changed. Similarly, looking at Ventura in the App Store, it says "Works on this Mac mini". Very annoying

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but using my iPad m1 as a external monitor doesn’t work properly on my MacBook Pro 16 inch m1. It connects then freezes for a while. I could be wrong but this might just be a general bug that apple could fix

Thank you for the awesome guide. I bought an Mac Mini 2014 cheaper and update to Ventura. Do you know how to patch the display to be properly recognized as 4k hdr display. I can''t see hdr settings and don't have scale options when I tried to switch to 4k resolution.

I got a 2014 Mac Mini with Intel Iris instead of regular Intel HD from what I know there is 2 i5 models with 2 different video cards.

Mac Minis from 2014 are cheap, because support run out. My plan is to get one and upgrade it with OpenCore Legacy Patcher and then use it as a build server to build and publish Android and iOS apps, so I need to use bleeding edge gradle tools as well as Xcode. Will this work or will I face problems?

my brother n law asked if i wanted his late 2012 mac mini with i5, 16 mg ram, replaced the original hd with a 500 SSD. loaded ventura and outstanding. Being an upper end rookie advised, not to or to remove and replace thermal paste? this would be a first on a mac, thx

Many thanks for this, very helpful and insightful. Does the egpu work after the upgrade to ventura? I use sonnet box and followed the exact steps in one of your earlier videos and it works great on monterey, but not sure if it will function properly under ventura. Any thoughts?

    • @norskradiofabrikk
      @norskradiofabrikk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Short answer - no. The eGPU team is rumoured to be working on patches, but video over Thunderbolt 2 is AFAIK deprecated and poses a major problem.
The eGPU cards ARE recognised, but the drivers do not load. So you have this weird situation where you get a warning when you unplug it, that your eGPU should be switched off in software before unplugging, but doesn't actually have a video driver installed.

I tried to install Ventura with OpenCore on my Mac mini server 2012 which has 2 SSDs, but it didn't finish successfully. It hung in the middle of the installation where it is supposed to reboot several times. I am wondering if this is because of the 2 SSDs.. I am thinking about disconnecting one of the SSDs and try it again..

    • @marik_hadare

My 2014 Mac mini runs Monterey just fine. Not giving me an option to upgrade to Ventura. I have the 8gb, 1 TB 5400!!!!???? hard drive. Imagine that. Apple is peak of innovation and yet they used 5400 rpm hard drives. 7200 rpm was the norm. SSD's were just starting to put on higher end laptops.
