Full album reaction!!! I promise you it's a whole vibe and as a music teacher/musician I am in awe of their song writing/production skills. please do a straight-through listen of the album!
😎😎😎 First part of song she's trying to break up with him without hurting him, At the beginning of the 2nd half she said. ( you called me again. ) so now she really lets him know it's over, And she's had enough.
The album is not like this song but nothing on it is really like anything else... i.e. it is super eclectic, and the songwriting and vocal performances are several levels above what we've heard before. I don't know why, but the singles sound 10 times better to me in the context of the album. I think it is a phenomenal body of work, but it took me at least 5 attentive plays to reveal itself fully. I think the reason it has mixed reviews is because she has left a few fans behind with her artistic evolution. I feel many people are pining that it is not Bad Guy and Bury a Friend, but that's okay. It's way better, imho, but I'd be interested to see what you think. If she were Radiohead, it's like she jumped straight from The Bends to Kid A without even bothering with OK Computer lol. Cheers.
I totally agree with you, sometimes I think people hate on her without any actual reasons. But music is always subjective, that's why I understand some people not liking her music, personally I think this album is great in lyrics, vocals and 100% in production. Maybe is not as relatable as when we all fall asleep where do we go but the musical growth was big, and that can explain why a lot of people, specially teenagers dislike this album except from happier than ever the song.
You mean that Billie Eilish's voice is VERY CONTROLLED. Like I dare anyone to try singing like her and be as controlled and smooth and have good control of how loud or how silent you pronounce certain words and throughout the whole song. Such a talented, skillful, and wise singer with how she manages her voice well using such intricate techniques.
@@BeyondMagical Im a bigger fan of melanie martinez than Billie Eilish, but melanie martinez has a different breathy technique for singing than Billie's.
@@BeyondMagical You can see this in melanie's live performances where she usually ends up catching her breath in tense parts of her songs. Its not a bad thing tho, it just tells us she obviously isnt exactly the same with Billie's techniques ofc. They still have their own distinct styles.
I'm hearing a weird high pitched buzzing sound on your video that isn't usually there. Not sure if you've noticed. Great reaction though and phenomenal song.
I’ve listened to it with & w/out headphones and can’t hear anything that’s wrong. Maybe it was on your end? It could also be some parts in billies music picking up a weird frequency
I'd love for you to react to some of Finneas' music. Some suggestions with a variety for you to react to: Let's Fall In Love For The Night What They'll Say About Us A Concert Six Months From Now Only A Lifetime If you DO react I'd particularly suggest starting with Let's Fall In Love For The Night, because it has some playful musical elements I think you'd enjoy. And for his music in general there are plenty of "stripped down", "acoustic", or "live" performances for variation. I would also enjoy if you reacted to Billie and Finneas' Radio 1 cover of "The End Of The World", as I found it also vocally compelling.
I love the song and im not an expert but, its only me that feel that the music in the second part is oversaturated? Like a bad equalization? Maybe im wrong but if i put the song in a high volume level, my headsets blow up...
The bass is very very compressed, and the overall sound is really hitting the limiter. Not sure if it's oversaturated, but it's definitely way way louder and punchier than the first part so maybe that's the reason.
The bass is clipping, meaning: it's basically too loud and thus the wave curve looks cut off in the peaks, which creates this distorted sound. This sounds wrong and I even read that Finneas sat on his ears here because he should have heard that and corrected the mistake. Which - in my eyes - is ignorant on basically all levels. To me that clipping is not a producing mistake, but a deliberately placed metaphor for the overwhelming feeling one has when finding out you lived in a beautifully looking prison, then all the sh%t came down on you, you survived - and now you're realy feeling free for the first time. You're willing to break all the borders, even those of clean sound creation. This 2nd part of the song is the defining moment not only of the song but of the entire album. Continuing with the rules of creating clear, distinctive tone would basically ruin the album (in my view). Finneas needed a new, never heard of heavy Rock sound. And he created it. So for me this is the greatest moment in Billie Eilsh's and Finneas' aesthetical development since Ocean Eyes.
maybe its your audio settings? i havent seen anyone else talk about this so i am unsure The first part seems to have a voice filter on to simulate a call (?), and the 2nd part sounds a bit more compressed and "produced" if that makes any sense and which IMO creates a nice contrast between the first part and the second part 👍
It sounds that way on every platform (even Beat Saber) it's crazy how I have to try and adjust the EQ manually just for one song. It's a good song, I have no idea what the sound engineer was doing. I'm actually trying to research myself, was this on purpose or accident? Did anyone upload a remaster?
@@wolfgangwalk337 I agree. Love it or hate it it's unlikely he didn't do it on purpose. He's incredibly creative so it's not surprising ALL of his choices don't resonate with everyone.
It's a fantastic song, the instrumental parts but especially how vocal line evolves, like the whole song. It's quite unusual. One thing I don't like much is the distortion (the drums, the quitar) that starts when the drums kick in. But it might be mostly the kick drum and cymbals. To me it just sounds not right, sounds like clipping, a lot of clipping.
I know I'm not who you were asking but.. If you are ACTUALLY tone deaf maybe not, but if you just "can't sing" the way you think you SHOULD sound, definitely yes. I teach art not music, but I'd argue some of the messaging is the same: what you THINK you should produce may not even be what you LIKE. Many famous artists produce music from genre A but listen mostly to music from genres B and C. So if you want to sing, go for it. If you have the financial ability, consult a vocal coach (like him) and get some feedback on what type of music would be the easiest intro point for your natural assets. You can broaden your skills over time, but you can definitely sing something. There's nothing wrong with having a specific range, for example. (If you ARE tone deaf, there are more rhythm based vocal artists.) Partially I'm leaving this response because non-zero chance it will make this comment more popular so you'll potentially get some of the feedback you actually want, lol.
i completely disagree with the telephone effect, if u can hear it there's a lot of low end body from her voice its very raw, idk where you're getting the "just top freq" from lol
Billie is a very talented composer hands down. She's also a good performer, yet...nature didn't give her "the" voice. I wonder what her songs would be like if "put here a your fav singer" would sing them.
The 2nd song is the only good part of this song. The first 2 minutes sucks. Although that leaves the 2nd half not long enough to be great but at least ot doesn't suck.
