Well filmed, well narrated. The hardest thing in crochet is knowing how to recognise stitches and place hook in the right one. You show that so clearly. Also how to end and start each round. I've learnt a lot, thank you
Making this square was so easy after following your explicit instructions. My first one came out PERFECT, and I was so amazed and pleased with my creation. Your are so easy to understand and follow. Please keep showing us tutorials with these concise videos and you got me forever. You made something I would not normally tackle seem possible. Thanks again.
I love both the design of the square and the way you teach in the video. It is both relaxing and informative. Thank you very much for sharing the making of this square, it is much appreciated. I hope the watch all your videos over this winter and I know I will finish ever so much more knowledgeable and more confident making complex squares. You are priceless. : )
Thanks for such a great video Esther.I kept getting mixing up with the US terminology and the UK stitches when trying to work from the printed pattern, so your videos are invaluable. I really couldn’t have done without them!
Ganz super erklärt. Auch wenn man des Englischen nicht so mächtig ist kommt man gut zurecht. Und endlich mal Muster die nicht langweilig sind. Vielen, vielen Dank
Love your precise and easy to follow instructions. Its a joy to work these with you! and in english too, many thanks I am making different coloured squares using this pattern for a blanket o its wonderful
Just finished one of these, I did find it quite challenging in places but learned loads. Thank you so much for making the video. I'm going to make another square to make a set of cushions.
all the squares for Nuts about Squares, as well as all the details for the CAL are on my blog here: itsallinanutshell.com/2017/02/25/nuts-about-squares-cal-2017/
Hello Ester, I am enjoying this design up until row 10 where we have to make those double triple crochet. I am working with 100% cotton from Paintbox. Lovely yarn. I don't know if that is why I am having so much trouble keeping the yarn/stitch length short at the point of the large star - before one continues on with the hdc behind the post. Its so frustrating. Do you know any 'tricks' to get this done more neatly? thank you for any help. I know it's hard because you cannot see my crochet work. Thank you.....
the large star has a dtr2tog if I recall correctly. The loops tend to open up a bit when you work the stitches. It helps to keep your finger on the loops on your hook while working the stitches. Also, in the next rounds the points are wrapped by new stitches, pulling the loops back together so it's not so obvious that there are a few holes. Hope this helps you a bit :)
This is absolutely stunning. I have almost finished this square but have a question about row 16. The pattern says there should be 40 hdc per side however I have 42 (2 hdc in the corners and 38 in between). So a total of 168 and 4 chain 2. Is this correct? Thank you!!!
OMG😳SHHH! This is so intricate (and beautiful) WHO THINKS up these designs!?!? I'm going to give it a try lol. I used to crochet tightly like this, but then I saw so many people were working with more loose stitches. This is going to be a challenge. I notice how you're struggling getting some stitches in their rightful place. I better take my arthritic meds before I begin this project! 😆 May I ask what size hook you're using? You may have said it in the beginning but I got involved with the tutorial and can't remember. Thank you ☺️ Beautiful work!!💞
Would you, please, say me the size in cm and how many yard it’s necesary for every Square in weight or meters. I love your beatifull labor. Sorry for my English
yes, it takes you to Ravelry because that is where the designer has the pattern. This square is designed by Helen Shrimpton and the written pattern belongs to her. I have only done a video tutorial for it.
if you could check the written pattern, that would be great, because I would have to go back to the pattern also. it is 3 years ago that I made this video
I love your videos. you do a wonderful job showing all the stitches. I do have a question--what do you do with the squares? are you demonstrating how to make a blanket or afghan?
Thank you so much for your video's they really help me to decipher when I get stuck reading a pattern. I have a question. Since you made the corner different in Round 16 should we do it as written in the pattern? Did it make a difference?
There are a few (incorrect) versions of the pattern in circulation due to different versions being available on the designer's blog and ravelry page. The way I do the corner is the way the designer intended. There will be more differences in the next rounds, I suggest you download the latest version from Ravelry :)
CAL means crochet along. It is a project that grows week by week. Each week a new part of the project is released. Zo you are crocheting along with many other people on one project
ok, thanks for the answer this is the pattern I downloaded on friday, so not that old. are there many differences before round 13, will I have to frog the lot?
what I mean with OLD is that the designer had uploaded an old version of the pattern on her website. On Ravelry there was a newer version. And there was also a difference between the photo tutorial and the written only pattern. there were no differences before Round 13. So you are OK :)
This is by far the most ridiculous crochet square pattern ever conceived. I tried it twice and twice threw it over the room. I crochet to gain peace and serenity NOT BE AGGRAVATED.
Oh my goodness….. that invisible join is something I have never seen before and it is life changing! Thank you so much!!

size depends on your yarn thickness. size is given in the written pattern by the designer.
I love this square it's too easy

Beautiful ❤️
Thank you, Esther. :)
You are most welcome
Beautiful
you do fantastic work! thanks for all the great tutorials.
You're welcome
This is a beautiful pattern, to make this a large square i.e. a baby blanket should I just repeat the second to last row
you could do that, or use many squares together.
You are just great thank you !!
awesome trying right now ....
Me gusta como explica
thank you
i am vers happy with your video's. thank You!
Happy that you like them 😊
Should we follow the written or the video pattern for round 16? Thanks your your reply!
If you are doing Nuts about Squares and you Follow only the videos then you have no issue. Then you will have 44 stitches at the end of round 17.
Hello❣️ I love these colors ❣️ I think they are differents from the original pattern😇. Could you please give me the name of the colors? Thank you 😙💞💞
the colors in the video are random colors of Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn.
Yes, I understood, but I just ask about the number of the colors😇😉😙💞💞💞

Is Spiro star part of the Squares?
I used this square as part of Nuts about Squares blanket
Round 13 written pattern has 3 treble picot 3 treble, video has 2 treble picot 2 treble. Whats the best way to go?
Love the videos.
You have an old version of the pattern. It has been updated to 2tr. You will find more differences. I suggest downloading the pattern again 😊
