We use our van to transport our handicapped son to therapy for weeks I have been lifting him up into the van using the left door. Thank you for making this video you saved my wallet and my back.
I absolutely love learning about these little fixes. Drives me crazy when I can’t figure out what’s causing the problems in my old odyssey or how to fix them. Thank you so much for making the video!
Thank you so much for your video. I just came from the auto shop and I was being charged $111 just to check what’s wrong with my Honda Odyssey sliding door and to fix the light.
Thank you for sharing. I've replaced door rollers on a friends van and now ours. I don't know why, but shortly after fixing our van rollers, the "slide door" light came on for the first time in 17 years. Good old pull fuse 7 reset it. Hopefully it was a glitch and it will be reliable, but if not, I'll pull it apart looking for a root cause. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for posting this video you literally saved me a $1275 bill the service dealer said was the motor and relay switch I decided to search for videos on here to see if there were similar problems and found your video your advice worked and saved me a very expensive bill I can’t Thank you enough for taking time to post this video to help others fix this issue your awesome and many thanks
Fantastic job, sir. It fixed my door as well! Very pleased with this easy fix and I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for your video so thank you very much.
There is a tiny switch in the latch assembly which has gone bad. it works like a circuit. replacement of that switch or the whole latch assembly will fix it. this is located inside the sliding door panel.
I’ve done the reset a number of times and it works once or twice and then it doesn’t. I’m still looking for answers. Latch switch seems like a possibility.
@@davidhowe5112same here I’ve killed my head always with my right passenger sliding door by doing this remove the fuse 7 comes back works for little while and then stops anyone knows what’s the problem in here?
I have a 2008 Honda odyssey ex-l. My issue was the drivers side power sliding door quit working. I did all the steps in resetting the door i.e., pulled the backup fuse turned off the doors, turned them back on etc., started the engine didn't start the engine and various deviations of the sequence and at the completion of each sequence and after the fuse was replaced the door would operate 3 times and then stop working again regardless of the sequence I was using. This went on for months. Anyway, I end up out of town with the van and it's just about daylight and there is snow falling, it's freezing and I've started the car to heat it up. I'm waiting for the family to arrive and decided that I'd just pull the damn fuse and then put it back in and get the 3 openings and closing. Again, the car was running and the doors were on when I pulled and replaced the backup 7 fuse. Everyone was able to get in and out the sliding since it was good for 3 openings and closings but when we were traveling and had to stop and go on a 600 mile trip it kept working and still is 4 months later. Bottom line forget the rest of this stuff regarding the key in or out car started or not started doors turned on or off etc. Start the car with the sliding doors on and pull and replace the fuse. This is the second time this had happened in 15 years and seems to occur when my young adults get in the car and leave an obstruction in the way while trying to close the doors. Good luck
Thanks for sharing, i have a 2006 honda odyssey with 243,000 original miles. I have the same issues with both sliding doors. Ive tried this method many many times and sliding doors still do not work. Im thinking its a bigger issues that will have to go to the dealership for repairs
Great video..I tried this yesterday, because my 2005 Honda Odyssey EXL dash said "Slide Door." It didn't work after pulling #7 fuse out for ten seconds.. then I took positive battery cable off battery for 20 seconds.. the light disappeared & door work twice, but then "Slide door" popped on dash again and door doesn't work.. Do you have any suggestion? thank you
Anyone know if the locking latch assembly miss aligning could cause a power drain? I have pulled the accessory fuse under the hood to keep it from happening. But from there I'm at a loss. I'm terrible with electricity. My wife rolled the van into a drain ditch and I've tried realigning the doors, replacing to latching assembly inside the doors but still draining
This (temporarily) fixes my van too, but there is something else wrong that causes it to come back on again. After pulling the fuse, I get to open and close the door THREE times, and three times only - then the light comes back on again. I think there is a limit switch in the door's mechanism that is either intermittent or completely bad. The van gives that system three tries to right itself before it marks the door as inoperative. BTW, the radio didn't ask for its code because you had the van ON when you pulled the fuse. The fuse supplies power to the radio when the van is off. Knowing that, I might be able to use this temp fix until I find the root cause of my door problem without having to reprogram my radio every time I pull the fuse (It resets my NAV system too when I do that).
did you find the issue? mine is doing exactly the same, i'm tired of taking the fuse out often, on my case i have ro re program the radio every time the fuse comes out, wonder what the issue is and will be broke if i take it to the honda dealer.
@@jlmag6710 I have the exact same issue described above. Drivers side 06. I think I’ve ruled out gas door. Thinking some latch sensor. Or something. Hoping to get a part name/description. I’m lost.
@@jlmag6710So after almost a year of sitting in my Inbox, I'm finally getting around to answering this. It's because I finally got around to fixing it, last weekend. YES! I replaced the micro switches in the latch assemblies on both of my sliding doors and all of my problems are gone. Neither the left or the right sliding doors were working because of this, AND, the battery in my van no longer dies every time the van sits for more than a day. It had gotten to the point where I had my jumper cables sitting in the back seat of my truck because of how often I had to jump start my van. All because of the micro switches went bad. You see, it's the micro switch that tells the van when the door is fully closed. If the switch goes bad, the van never knows that the door is closed all the way and continuously sends power to the latch motor. This is the motor that sucks the rear of the door in when it finishes closing. When it continuously receives power, the battery drains. If I don't start the van every day, the battery drains to the point where it needs to be jump started. The van certainly knows when the switches go bad though. That's what makes the error light show up in the dashboard and the door to stop working.
You may have to change the Sliding Door roller, It is pretty common on these VANs. If the door gets stuck try greasing the rollers & The Tracks where the roller rolls on at the bottom and on the side behind the door. Hope this helps. If they continue to get stuck and the door backs up. Then a reset is required until the rollers are fixed
What happens if i pull the fuse and the door works for a few times and then stop working again. If i pull the fuse to rest it works again but then stops after a few tries.
@@btcgambler1270 I believe the roller is made of cheap parts and eventually fails. I had mine replaced to the tune of 300 dollars on the passenger side. I did not fix the other one because it is not used often. The slide door light came on, and removing fuse #7 fixed it...for now.
My door will work temporarily. Then back to the button and key not working for the right sliding door. I can manually open and close it but it beeps at me.
You may have to change the roller . if the door get stuck try greasing the rollers and see if that helps. If they continue to get stuck and the door backs up. Then a reset is required . Sounds like you may have a bad Sliding door roller .
try to lift the door or push as someone try to open it at the same time , see if you can release the stuck door roller . you may need someone to help you press the open slide door while you move the sliding door to release it , it can be tricky but give it a try . good luck .
This video fixed the light and made the auto work again... but when it opened it had a grinding sound so I assume my track is off which is probably what cause the “slide door” light to come on in the first place. So maybe something in the track is causing it to continue to come on... I’ll have to trouble shoot mine.
