      Agreed. I wonder how we could get this under control? I mean I think maybe making it illegal to have kids if you're a drug user, but, how do you really enforce that? Maybe you have to put up 200k before being allowed to have a kid or something, and you get that back with interest, but it shows the parent can at least take care of the kid. I realize these are crazy ideas with lots of issues, but, just throwing stuff out there - we need something dramatic.

    • @redward18
      @redward18 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      No. She said they invited her to multiple family gatherings but she declined because she believed there would be an underlying tension. She said things would appear to be ok but she would feel like there is still resentment from her family. She said her sisters wants her to get help. I'm sorry for being brutally honest here but she doesn't want to hold herself accountable for her actions. If her family abandoned her, they would not be inviting her anywhere at all. They wouldn't even answer her phone calls or want better for her. She admitted to going back to the same man who conflicted the relationship between her and her mother. The interviewer asked her what is she going to do after the interview and her answer was "getting down" again while laughing. I'm sorry for how her life turned out but until she can be able to hold herself accountable, she's her own worst enemy. She has to admit her faults to herself. She has to admit her own part in her own self destruction.

    The best and most freeing thing my therapist ever said to me was "Your mother doesn't love you". Selena- your foster mother didn't love you. The sooner you accept this, the sooner you will be able to process it, realize your worth, and have healthy relationships. She used her foster kids for money and didn't care about your well-being, then she wanted to use you as a caretaker. She manipulated a child's need for a mother to gain a source of income and a servant. That isn't love. Further, your family gaslit you to believe that their neglect was your fault. None of it was ever your fault. You did and DO deserve more. You deserved a mother, but you can mother yourself as you are INCREDIBLY STRONG. You can have your own family someday- I see you being a great mother. You are intelligent- do what you need to do, get a degree (even an associate's) you can use, and start your own family

Then, I got kicked out of my foster home and was homeless for a year in la and OC area. I started doing dates and it was the hardest thing in my life and I would take molly and e pills to numb my issues. Now, I live in San Diego and I work as a document specialist at 21 years old and I will be graduating as a Paralegal early next year. Then, I will be eventually applying to law School. I was there before and that shit is horrible. I pray for you Selena. Keep that mentality, don’t ever let no other human control your path. My condolences to the loss of your mother and friend. I have a daughter named Athena and she is my world. Only one year old and I will love and protect her fiercely with God’s will because I know that’s what kind of care you needed and so many other young women in your position. You do have someone to prove something to - look in the mirror. Because YOU are worthy and deserve joy, love, respect, peace and happiness. Praying for you girl. ❤

I couldn’t even imagine knowing my sister living like this, and me just letting her suffer on the streets. Her mom and sisters kept saying “things can’t go back to how they were” but they weren’t even willing to try. I know she loved her mom but damn she didn’t even do anything for her. Everybody failed her. In situations like this, you need a support system and she never had one.

      I agree! It was so heartbreaking to hear her say she begged her Mom so many times to come home and was told no. I don't understand a mother that would rather let her child continue to prostitute than to allow her to come home. She was a child when she made those mistakes, and more than that she was a child that had been abandoned and sexually abused. I feel like the moment she left boarding school and needed to come home was a huge turning point. If she had been given support and guidance and a place to go at that moment, if she would have been surrounded with love from her family instead of being left on her own trying to figure out how to survive as a homeless 18 year old, she wouldn't be on the path she is now. She wouldn't have ever needed to turn to that first pimp for help. It's really heartbreaking. I really hope that she finds her way out of this life.
