Man, I have to say it’s pretty damn cool that you can regularly have cup series veterans on your show. This channel has grown so much. I mean, you grew up just like me. A Texan, who’s been absolutely obsessed with nascar since he can remember, a kid who’s played with diecast cars even in high school and well into adulthood, you’re cut from the same cloth as myself and a lot of us, so I think it’s pretty cool to see how successful you’ve become with this channel. Keep on grinding Eric!
I look forward to the day NASCAR calls Eric and starts paying him to cover the sport. Either way, in 5 or 10 years, he will be the go-to coverage for NASCAR for the majority of fans.
for awhile I've thought the commentary booth would benefit from following a formula of; Play by Play, Color Commentator with racing experience, educated superfan. Having someone like Eric or other youtubers in that 3rd slot would be a great way to extend a bridge to fans for more connection
Fantastic interview. Erik asks solid questions and lets the guest elaborate while McDowell seems to appreciate these smaller (for him) interviews. Really great !
I love Michael. He's one of my favorite drivers. I don't know him personally but he's one of the good guys in the sport. He was gracious enough to let me get a picture with him after he crashed at Texas in April while battling for the lead. I wish him well at Spire. He'll be a contender for a playoff spot next year.
Love Michael. Such a good guy who has ground his way to a well known name in the garage. Wish him nothing but the best for the rest of this year and next year!
Such a great interview! It really shows how much the quality and clarity of the question dictates the quality and clarity of the answer! 🤓 I think now with MTJ almost gone I could become a McDowell fan 🤔😃
I'm actually really sad to see McDowell leave FRM. I was always and big fan of his, and earlier this year my dad and I talked about him and I said he would never leave FRM... well that didn't age well. I will really miss him in the Loves car. I've always pulled for Front Row over the years and it's just so sad to see him go.
He actually started out in nascar in decent equipment at MWR, but he did have a pretty brutal rookie season. Also, MWR only got better after he left. That car in particular became the car that both vickers and Mark Martin had success in.
I’ll always remember when Harvick said McDowell was leaving FRM because of performance issues which was far from accurate. McDowell is leaving because of a longer contract and more money. FRM would do year to year contracts.
My pick would be Chase Briscoe, but if Denny Hamlin is able to get away with bringing a cheated up, uninspected engine again this time like he did when he won in the Spring race, he may be allowed to dig himself out of the points deficit he finds his JGR team in, steal the show and move to the next round.
The Next Gen car allowed drivers with talent but no budget rise to the top. Lesser talent drivers with perfect equipment have slid and struggled. Parity is the reason passing is so hard.

I think Trackhouse Racing and the Red Bull F1 team should merge and become Trackhouse Red Bull Racing as a team that fields both NASCAR and F1 cars. I probably should’ve said this in the previous video, but still.
I recall several years ago McDowell complaining about teams cherry picking top guys from FRM every year. Sounds like he is doing the same. Travis Peterson is going with him to Spire. That is disappointing for me. I really don't understand why he chose to leave FRM for Spire. He was with FRM in during the struggles and they are now contenders most weeks. Why start over? There must be a lot going on at Spire that isn't public knowledge. Maybe it is Michael Andretti buying in? Do they know Honda is coming? Something lured him and can't be just money.
@@handsomedevil4928 They just signed Gilliland to a multi-year deal. I am sure he was offered one as well and chose to make a move. What dos that matter anymore? McDowell says himself in this video multi-year deals don't mean squat anymore.
@@benmorris6831 in the past they hadn’t. When he first made the move, he said FRM tended to work year by year, and he wanted more stability. And sure, multiyear deals fall through, but it’s still better than year by year.

I’m waiting for the EE500 Club or smthn like that so Eric can cover nascar more akin to David Land in Indy car

I like Eric as an independent. he can do whatever he wants, however he wants, being his own boss.
@@MidlifeCrisisManagement My thought exactly. We don't need another sock puppet commentator.
I don’t think Eric will get a call from Nascar. He might be like the Josh Pate of Nascar

Michael could easily be in the playoffs right now. I think he’ll be a great mentor to hocevar and whoever takes the 7

Looking forward to seeing the results next year from M.M and Spire next year.
