As a driver, I've never understood the "payback" using your car. Maybe I am too broke and could never afford to sacrifice my car to make a point. Maybe it's the fear that it could seriously injure a human. Either way I always assumed that it wasn't intentional, offered a beer and a handshake, and moved on
I agree. That's how grown men handle those types of situations but unfortunately that's not what nascar teaches the immature racers. Guess no one learned anything from Tony Stewart's behavior that killed someone.
When I was young and was bitching and complaining about a slower car. Calling them JUNK. My grandfather was quick to correct me and said, " Son, that is that man's car don't say it again." And I didn't it taught me to a better driver like don't follow a slower car for three laps and then bitch about losing. Lessons Learned.
Mate, if you wanna have a swing at someone, get out of your car and wait in the infield. Also, as much as it isn't a high bar to clear, good on the ASCS for coming down hard on this behavior. In an era where NASCAR lets shit like this slide all the time, I don't know if we can take the upholding of moral standards for granted, so thumbs up to ASCS from me.

@DurtyDog he's right. Using a race car as a weapon especially at speed should be an immediate lifetime ban at that track. The tracks have to worry about being shut down as it is and potentially creating a scenario that could cause bodily harm only increases the chances of the tracks insurance going through the roof. Screw drivers or teams that don't look at the big picture or the dangers they create by pulling such crap. They have no business being on a race track if they are intentionally trying to wreck other driver's let alone driver's at full speed. If they want to do that they can go to their local fairs and do the destruction derby. It's absolutely absurd anyone would side with a racer doing such acts on a race track.
Honestly a one year series ban sounds exceptionally light for that type of activity. He's lucky old boy he railed with his car hasn't filed assault charges.
@@kartPhantom68 That's all well and good and thanks for making it clear. But, I was more referencing the length of the suspension rather than the breadth. I was there. After separating them. Anderson was driving the vehicle back to the pits. He stopped the car got out and started fighting with someone else. It lasted about 20 to 30 minutes total
Anderson should be banned from racing completely. There's no reason to purposefully go out of your way to wreck someone. Just go to the pits and calm down, wait till the end of the feature and talk to the other driver.
I think tonight we will lose a real Sprint Car driver for longer than 1 year. Corey Day is going to run ARCA and trucks for a big intro to Bristol. Big fan of the Kid and wishing him success, but still bummed.
Perhaps, but the racing leagues failure to drop the hammer with penalties that will make the point loud and clear have allowed this to get to this point. A year out of the car will get these guys attention. Even the other stuff like parking the car on the track mid race and other stupid crap should cost these knuckle heads races and money. I was at jacksonville speedway and witnessed the tragic accident. I don't care what led up to this. Anderson needs banned for life from the track and series. Make an example out of him.
The suspension isn't near long enough and the fine needs several more zeros behind it. It's 1 thing to pay another driver back in closed wheel NASCAR type cars while still on the track. These open wheel type cars are to wide open and like happened the steering was destroyed because they have the control arm outside not inside the body. There is never a good reason to go after someone in a Sprint Car type racecar because the driver sits to much in the open where a wheel or broken piece can easily injure or kill the driver. I'm thinking more along the lines of a 3 to 5 year or even a possible lifetime ban and the Fine should have easily been 25 thousand or higher.
I'm not usually a big fan of the big punishments. Sometimes I think it's an over-exaggeration, not here though. A one year ban is very justified considering everything that happened.
